Fauquier County Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey W. Parker was arrested Tuesday for assault and battery after an incident involving an employee at a Stafford Walmart. The incident, first reported by the Free Lance-Star, happened about 6:15 p.m., after Parker asked an employee at the Walmart off U.S. 17 in southern Stafford for a receipt for some jewelry he had found in the parking lot. “Parker told deputies that he brought the jewelry to the customer service desk where he turned the items over to the clerk,” Stafford sheriff’s 1st Lt. Eric Quinn said. He asked for a receipt or something in writing noting the jewelry found & the date & time he turned it over to Walmart, Quinn said. “Parker told the deputy that he wanted some type of receipt or documentation so that he could return & claim the items if the rightful owner was not found,” he said. Parker reported to deputies that the clerk refused to provide a receipt or give him back the jewelry. The Walmart employee instead said she was putting the jewelry in a safe place in case the rightful owner returned, & said she couldn’t provide him a receipt, according to the sheriff’s office. “It was reported by other Walmart employees as well as the clerk that Parker got aggravated & aggressive when the clerk would not provide a receipt,” Quinn said. During the confrontation, Parker allegedly reached across the counter & grabbed her hand, “causing her hand to hurt.” “The clerk further reported that she was scared of what Parker would do if she didn’t return the jewelry to him,” Quinn said. Deputy J.J. Bryan arrested Parker & took him to the magistrate’s office, where he was charged with assault & battery, the sheriff's office said. He was later released by the magistrate on an unsecured bond. In January, the Virginia General Assembly reappointed Parker, 65, to an eight-year term to the 20th Judicial Circuit. He has served as circuit court judge for Fauquier, Rappahannock and Loudoun counties since 2001. Parker is a graduate of the University of Michigan & received his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1977. Peace! I AM(c). UCC1-308
