Okay so my friend over at @hawkercentaurus and I were looking at Reaper’s mask because of a random gif, and then I decided to go into the animated shorts with Reaper in them and see if his mask really does move, and what we found is.. it does, specifically the eye area moves and these hcs were born:
but I like to think there’s something worse under the mask.but anyways the mask moving makes sense, Reaper is able to completely turn to a thick smokey mist and escape. his entire outfit has to be made out of something that isn’t human. we know that Reaper eats souls/drains lifeforce from people on the battlefield, its possible that he himself can create these articles using whatever unearthly power he obtained when whatever happened to him happened.and it’d make sense as to why he needs so much life force.
because of the halloween comic last year, we know Gabe can create prettyyy solid costumes, he probably redesigned his current costume and used his actual life force to make it, that way it can move and wraith with him. it would explain how he doesn’t overheat in the leather he wears, it would explain the mask being able to actually move, and it’d explain why his clothes don’t just fall off when he himself wraiths..
Its because its actually a part of him
Now the second hc is this one:
he doesnt heal as quickly as we think he does.so i honestly think his current condition, doesn’t actually heal him and he’s more like 76, its just the super soldier serum that heals him faster
because his current condition, science-wise, is actually his cells dying and regenerating at extremely fast speeds, which basically feels like constantly being hit by a truck
but even then we see him get hurt, and struggle to get back up
when he gets electrocuted by winston, Reaper literally dies for a moment
he’s turned to only smoke, his entire life force is drained
and for a while even as his smoke form he isn’t able to move, until we see him leave at the last second as smoke
so I think it really is just the super soldier serum healing him, rather than his condition entirely
because the rapid decay and regen of cells wouldn’t heal you as much as you’d think, the regenerated cells would die moments later, hence why he eats other people’s life force(although my living armour theory is backed up by the fact he takes more life force than he really needs) but anywaysthats my other hc
because in “Hero” Jack protects Alejandra from a nade and he groans, struggles for a moment, then gets back up.
In “Infiltration” Reaper is knocked against metal by a giant mech, and he groans and struggles, gets up, and he falls, but is finally able to stand again and comparing them both(both soldiers who went through the SEP) there’s distinct similarities in how fast they heal.
