how do you think magic the gathering design philosophy would change in an alternate universe where you're a horse
Oats would play a bigger role.

Okay, I'll be real, I stole this one from tiktok
First, get yourself a very big pan, because this makes a fuckton.
You boil a whole box of celletani- THE perfect mac'n'cheese noodle.
Then you prepare the sauce, which, I'm usually a measure with your heart kinda guy, but I feel you have to be a little exact, if you want the porfect sauce consistency.
You melt down three tablespoons of butter, and once it's melted, toss in a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika (prepare this beforehand, use half). Toss in three tablespoons of flour, mix. Then, you pour in a whole can of evaporated milk, and get everything fully incorporated before adding two cups of heavy cream. Toss in the other half of your spice mix. Stir this until it starts to thicken.
Then, you add a cheese mixture, which is three parts 8 oz of mozzarella, sharp cheddar and cheddar jack. A couple handfuls at a time, let them fully melt down before adding more. Once everything is melted down, add your noodles, and mix thoroughly.

this composition has to be on purpose it just has to be
What would a magic player have to do to qualify for the pro tour in June? Wotc hasn't made it very clear what the path to get there is

Dungeons & Dragons players: I'd love your input on something. My group has changed the rules for multiclass spellcasting, but I'm trying to decide whether or not it's good for game balance.
So rules as written, if you are multiple spellcasting classes, you learn spells for each class as if you were just that one class. For example, if you were Cleric 5 Druid 5, you could only learn spells up to 3rd level despite being CL 10.
We play so that characters can learn spells according to their highest available spell slot level. This same Cleric-Druid would be able to learn spells up 5th level.
Here are some of the considerations:
We all agreed that only playing with low level spells sounded unfun, but none of us have actually played with the vanilla multiclass rules.
I personally welcome rules and restrictions as a way to encourage creativity. Maybe if I try the vanilla rules I'll like them more than I expect.
The biggest trade-offs for multiclass spellcasting include missing capstone features, missing high level subclass/class features, and having reduced effect of features that scale with class level. These downsides apply to both rulesets.
Some of the upsides include full access to the spell lists of 2 entire classes as well as learning more spells overall (depending on class choices).
There are no unique downsides posed by our ruleset. It is strictly more power to the players. I'm fine with that, but I want to make sure it's not too much.
Our rules also allow half casters to gain access to their high level spells much, much sooner than they would normally. A Paladin 2 Sorcerer 8 can get access to spells like Destructive Wave and Banishing Smite 7 levels before a normal Paladin would.
A Paladin Sorcerer can Divine Smite for max damage 7 levels sooner than a regular Paladin, but this also works in the vanilla rules.
I'm not sure if I've seen the most abusable case for our rule. What do you think that would be?
Do you think our change is a good idea, or are the vanilla rules better?
House rule
Vanilla rule
Whatever you choose, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
1 week was probably too long for this poll
Anyway, thanks to all who voted. Things are effectively tied, apart from my own vote
I think I'll continue to DM with the house rule going forward, if only because I am prone to saying No a little too often. If I'm going to say Yes to any possible antics, might as well say Yes to something that's going to encourage creativity
The main issue I could see with this being abusable (if I'm understanding the premise correctly) is that you could have a level 8 Fighter take 1 level in Wizard and have access to a plethora of spells with little investment. But assuming your players aren't planning on abusing this then not a problem at all.
Where is Garruk in the art of Garruk's Uprising? I feel like the only place with that many dinos is Ixalan, but we've never seen him there before.
He's that one
my serious, peanut-gallery answer is that's definitely Muraganda. Ixalan dinosaurs are intentionally over-feathered.
Yeah basically.

Anyways, who watch the new chainsaw man anime?

Hi, is it possible that you could give me some advice on playing modern Slivers? I've been building a deck for a while but still don't think it's tournament-level even once I have all the cards and could really use some help if that's okay
While I'm not much of a modern player myself, I believe with slivers there's two common routes people take it: a green base that utilizes Collected Company as a fast way to deploy threats OR Aether Vial to be able to deploy them efficiently and difficult to interact with. Deciding on an aggressive plan with high damage output and things that enable speed (like Haste and pump effects) is one route, whereas a disruptive strategy involving maybe some slivers that have opponents discard cards or tax their mana in some way is another viable option. The good news is that the mana fixing for a 5 color tribal deck in modern is insane and its really easy to include all 5 colors. In the end I think I would suggest looking at MTGtop8 for slivers lists, and maybe also looking at Humans decks for a reference on manabases, removal, and sideboard strategies. Hope this helps!
Anyone else have any recommendations for this person?
Can I ask for slightly less power when you inevitably get around to printing a Modern Horizons 3? The general consensus seems to be that MH2 was a bit farther than people really wanted.
Let's ask. What would you like for Modern Horizons 3:
a) the same power level as Modern Horizons 2?
b) a lower power level than Modern Horizons 2?
c) a higher power level than Modern Horizons 2?
B) lower, mh1 was in a good spot
Oh no. I seemed to have fallen into some sort of rabbit hole. The next set is some 1930's sort of thing? Sort of got thinking about rubberhose animation and well... This is the weird thing that came out of that.
Basically I tried to redo the Phyrexian Praetors in old cartoon style.
The first one I did was Sheoldred, felt decently Betty Boop-y. Had a lot more trouble with the horrible spider butt with a very John Dillworth-y kind of smile.
Got into something of a groove and did Vorinclex next. And the big galoot felt very Bluto/Sinbad. The skull isn't as animalistic as his real face is, but I decided it was a good time to reference the Skeleton Dance.
The third one was Jin-Gitaxias, and he was just a delight. If a little odd to figure out. Won't lie mostly vibing off of "The Ghost of Stephen Foster" here. And maybe an old cartoon vulture or two. Went with an accordion spine leading into baggy pants.
Definitely the easiest one I wound up doing. Elesh Norn just wound up having some Olive Oyl proportions. Long limbs, offbalance noodly proportions to match her cumbersome headwear.
Urabrask was definitely the one I struggled the most with. Mostly because even in his main card art, its hard to tell what's going on with him. Plus there isn't exactly much that "looks" like him in old cartoons. Initially considered going a dragon route, before stumbling upon Andy the Anvil (Skullgirls) and just giving him weird boat smokestacks and a mouth that vaguely resembled a cow-catcher. Sort of get the industrial vibe.
And yes... there is a color version (of the characters at least). By the time I was working on the background I had thrown on Black & White filter, and was just trying to use more oil-painty brushes to keep it separate from the characters.
The background was meant to be an afterthought, I swear. Maybe I'll try and put a color version of that together too.
Anyways off I go... Doing my various other art projects.
Why “target player draws a card” instead of just “draw a card” ?
The former allows you to force another player to draw which might be to mill them out or be a strategic political move in a multiplayer game.
I think its important to note that a lot of times its formatted in a way where if the target of a spell is removed, the additional effect (in this case, drawing cards) will still happen instead of "fizzle" the card for a lack of target. For example...
Explosion could just say "Draw X cards." But if it were formatted that way and you targeted a creature with the damage, and the creature were sacrificed in response, you don't get to draw the cards. But if you the player is a target for the spell you'll still get to draw the cards with how it is actually worded.
