Tahani Al-Jamil, the woman who needed constant validation for her achievements and talents, decided to spend the rest of (the foreseeable) eternity by sitting in the shadows and creating the simulations that would help others become their best selves.

Michael, a demon who by nature despised all of humanity, found his happiness in becoming a human, and in learning to grow and change for the better.

Janet, the AI who had no purpose other than to fein happiness and provide for anyone’s desires without question, learned to not only love but to think and feel for herself.

And of course, Eleanor Shellstrop, the woman who needed no one, who owed nobody anything, did not ever spend her time in the good place alone, and refused to walk through the gate until she made sure that everyone else she knew was happy first.

Each of them ended their stories with their original faults/sins resolving to become their greatest virtues, and these virtues became the things that gave them the peace to move on and be one with the universe. This show was absolutely beautiful and there won’t be anything quite like it.

I was going to wait until y'all hit the mark, But I feel like I should say this now

When I made this post, it was supposed to be a joke

I mean, none of my posts ever get more than 20 notes if I'm lucky, so what are the odds of one reaching 666k? Impossible, haha

But then, something happened, something I didn't expect

People actually began to... like it? And... reblog? And comment?

Before I knew it, my notifications were swarmed with comments after comments after reblogs after comments all on this one post

Then, still in the mindset of this being a joke, I realised I'd made the goal too easy, so I upped the stakes

But... the notes just got more frequent from there

And it started to hit me just what was happening

For a while, I was overwhelmed with a feeling

A feeling I wasn't used to

It was like... all of a sudden... I mattered...

My existance was actually noteworthy

People actually... cared?

It wasn't a game anymore, it was a race to assure a stranger on the Internet that they were actually worth something

nini - she would not go on to college and instead continue writing songs with jamie, she is a low-key artist at first but becomes a popular public figure within 2-3 years🙌🏼

ricky - to be honest i don’t know!! i don’t think he knows yet either so he’d probably go to community college for two years to figure his life and career out. tbh he would not have a career in theatre, though he would continue playing guitar and writing songs as a hobby🎸

ej - oh he would find his calling in directing/producing!! a film studies major with a minor in neurobiology because my man is an overachiever with a 4.3 gpa so OF COURSE he’s a STEM minor. in my head, he interns with corbin as an assistant director for an upcoming project 🎞🎥

gina - dance major PERIOD (i really don’t need to explain this) she wouldn’t go onto broadway, but instead pursue acting on sitcoms and become a hollywood icon. she would also do modeling for a while before her big break 🌟

ashlyn - i would assume she’d be a music theory major? definitely something songwriting related though, she would write songs and musicals in her free time at college and join a baking club😉

big red - he’d do community college or a state college with a business/sales degree while working the pizza shop for a couple years but later go on to do an MBA🍕

kourtney - OH she’d be a social justice major with an emphasis on women studies because she’s an ACTIVIST queen who would fight for feminism💘

carlos - definitely some sort of dance program, but he’d focus on choreo instead of performing; he’d also dream of directing a musical someday and would definitely ask ej for advice later on🕺

seb - sebastian PIANO GOD matthew-smith would go on to be a theater arts major in Juilliard FS and become a broadway legend (he gives off very jordan fisher energy) oh and he’d stay close to carlos! 🎹

jet - tbh this dude would be a communications major or something idk LOL nothing too intense; he would do the bare minimum and live his life out in college while taking a bunch of elective classes to find his calling🍾

I am sick and tired of portwells and rinas screaming about how x character is the devil for so-and-so reason. I think the love triangle, as individuals, have been built pretty cleverly. All of their POVs can be understood.

On Gina's side, she feels like she's being shut out of EJ's life because has this need to prove to his dad he can do the show on his own. She feels like they were a team and now they're falling apart, but she's also being super petty and immature about it. And tbh it's fine because she was mad! It's understandable to try to hurt someone who hurt you.

EJ is extremely pressed with so many responsibilities. He wants to spend time with Gina, he wants to enjoy camp, he wants to prove to his dad he can do things right, he wants to get everything from the show right, he wants to keep the documentary going. Surely you can see how stressful this situation is for him, right? All he wanted to do was have fun one last summer and he just got dumped with this massive responsibility, and had to act like it was fine. However, he decided to do the whole thing alone. He is a perfectionist who thinks that by doing things alone he can prove that he's good at something—at what he does. If only he asked for help from Val, or his friends, he would know that they're all together, and that there's no need to do everything by himself. Surely you can understand where he comes from, right?

Ricky just left a horrible relationship. He wanted to be free, and find himself at summer, but feelings he thought were forgotten resurfaced and he couldn't feel worse about it. She's in a relationship in which she seems happy, and he thinks he can't ruin that if he really likes her, so he tortures himself by helping her with her boyfriend, going on walks with her, and singing love songs with her for the musical. He's really trying not to get in the way, but his feelings are too strong to not say the occasional completely wrong comment that her boyfriend "stole her" from him. He's trying not to interfere in her happiness, but he hurts himself in the way. Surely you can understand that, right?

These characters aren't black and white. They aren't supposed to be. So saying Ricky is a homewrecker or saying EJ doesn't really care for Gina, or saying Gina's being incredibly unfair to poor bby EJ is wrong because it's not that simple.
