The 66th annual Sapporo Snow Festival (previously featured here) began today and its feature attraction is this incredibly awesome Star Wars-themed sculpture that looks like what we imagine would happen to Mount Rushmore if the Galactic Empire conquered Earth.
The colossal sculpture was built over the course of a month using 3,500 tons of snow - 700 truckloads delivered in trucks 5 tons at a time. It’s the most snow ever used for a single sculpture in the 66 year history of the Sapporo Snow Festival. The finished piece measures 15 meters (~50 ft) tall, 22.6 meters (74 ft) wide and 20 meters (~66 ft) deep.
