i am interested in marxism, class society, labour history, colonialism and imperialism, histories of the marginalised, fascist states, and antifascist resistance. i also like film and fashion history, and most things to do with the modernist period (roughly 1890s to 1940s).

it really pisses me off when adults sit there and drill it into kids’ heads that their youth is fleeting and tell them things like “enjoy your childhood while it lasts because this is the best it’s gonna get”. why are you telling children that adulthood is the worst thing they can experience? seriously what the fuck is wrong with you, why are you trying to make them feel like growing up is a fate worse than death? trying to convince them their life is over before it even begins? i’m tired of that shit. because tell my why my 12 year old cousin told me when she turns 30 she’ll be so depressed she’s just gonna cry all the time. what the fuck. kids don’t need to hear that their already stressful and overwhelming lives are never going to get better, that the abuse and lack of autonomy they face is apparently the highlight of their lives. they need to hear about adults who are happy to be alive and happy to have made it to their age. they need to know that growing up rules, it’s a gift and life does not have to suck for them, that they have a future that’s worth sticking around for. this rhetoric is so damaging mentally and i’m about to start hitting the adults who parrot it. i’m sorry you hate your life but you don’t get to dump your issues on these kids. don’t piss me off and leave these babies alone!

hey all, as you may or may not know, I have a condition called guillain-barre syndrome that has caused, among other things, my hands to be partially paralyzed, making typing and using a mouse more difficult and painful. my physical and occupational therapists have suggested I look into getting an ergonomic mouse and keyboard that would be less strain on my hands and wrists, and if anyone can help me do that it'd be greatly appreciated~!

i dont think people truly grasp the idea that america from its very beginning was built in a way that makes it fundamentally impossible to redeem. the myth of the ''american dream'' depends on someone else being exploited, displaced, or harmed. there is no version of success within that system that does not come at a cost to someone else, often someone with less power.
this is not a temporary flaw or a series of bad decisions that can be corrected over time, it is structural and it is foundational. the system is not a broken version of something better, it is functioning exactly as it was designed to function. expecting it to suddenly produce justice or equality ignores the reality of how and why it was created.
political participation, especially within the narrow limits of electoral politics does not meaningfully challenge this foundation. choosing between candidates who operate within the same system does not alter the system itself. it reinforces the idea that small adjustments are enough and that progress can happen without confronting the underlying structure.
people often ask what is wrong with america, why it behaves the way it does, why exploitation and violence seem so persistent, and the answer is that these outcomes are not accidents. they are consistent with the country's origins in colonization, slavery, and imperial expansion. those patterns have not disappeared, they have evolved and adapted.
there is also a reason why so many people feel exhausted, disengaged, or unable to imagine alternatives. capitalism benefits when people are too overwhelmed to resist or even to question what is happening. economic pressure, constant stress, and limited time all contribute to maintaining that condition.
capitalism, as it operates, is not failing. it is producing exactly what it is meant to produce, concentration of wealth, inequality, and dependence. the belief that it can be reformed into something fair without fundamentally changing its structure keeps people invested in a system that continues to harm them.
the idea that america can simply be ''fixed'' rests on the assumption that its core is sound. if the foundation itself is built on exploitation and domination, then surface level reforms will not address the deeper issue. continuing to believe in those reforms can delay more honest conversations about what real change would require.
the real danger of capitalism is not that it will fail, it's that it will succeed completely.

Sometimes, time seems to move in a vicious cycle, repeating itself in a painfully astonishing manner, as if mocking humanity's ability to learn from its mistakes. Two images are separated by 79 years, yet they appear as though no time has passed, as if the gap between them is merely a few fleeting moments.

I know that I probably sound a little crazy sometimes when I get so worked up over this because there are very huge problems in this world and I think to most people, these issues are not so important in comparison. And I get that. Why would you care about New Mexico when there are genocides going on? Entirely peoples being systemically targeted and murdered?
But this is my home. This is my home and I have witnessed many things that New Mexicans go through. And I know my state's history. I know what the US government has done to New Mexicans. And I love New Mexicans. I love them so much. So it's important to me that I tell others about these problems.
The US government has allowed in my state pedophilic abuse by the Catholic Church (I know this isn't NM specific but I kid you not, pedophilic priests in other parts of the country used to be sent to rural New Mexican communities so that they would not be caught and cause a scandal) and Epstein, they have allowed New Mexicans to get cancer and suffer from other diseases caused by radioactivity without offering compensation and often not even doing anything or communicating with these communities about this, they have poisoned New Mexicans with fentanyl, they have contaminated the water, they have let homelessness become rampant and created more homelessness by sending homeless people from other states here, and overall there have just been so many injustices committed on this land.
Even outside of incredibly recent 20th and 21st century history, New Mexico holds so much trauma from events like the Long Walk of the Navajo. Again, events of our past like this continue to affect people.

My mother is in Gaza, where every day is a struggle to survive. Some time ago, she was injured when shrapnel from nearby shelling struck her back. She tried to endure the pain for as long as she could, but now her condition has become critical.
She has now been admitted to the hospital, and her condition is very serious. She is suffering from unbearable back pain, extreme exhaustion, and every passing day brings more suffering. Watching my mother fight through this pain while I can do so little is heartbreaking.
The doctors told us that she urgently needs emergency back surgery. They warned us that the operation must be performed within the next 6 days to prevent her condition from deteriorating further.
The cost of this life-saving surgery is $1,000.
Thanks to the incredible kindness of compassionate people, we have raised $292 so far ($188 from our previous appeal and $104 from our latest one). We are deeply grateful for every donation.
However, we still need $708 to give my mother the surgery that could save her from worsening pain and complications.
