Genesis in the Apocalypse.
Sentry duty, for all intents and purposes, sucked. It sucked hard. Standing all day while staring at the same bit of landscape was beyond boring. Wade had seen paint dry that looked more amusing than most days on sentry duty.
Well. Occasionally he got to shoot something on sentry duty, but for the most part it was a long, boring day filled with nothing but Wadeâs own singing and a quick look at nothing through his binoculars.
He just started on his second or third round of Mamma Mia when something caught his attention. Something moving, human shaped.
He swiped beside him for his binoculars. Maybe, if he got lucky, he could shoot this⊠whatever it was. Some blue-looking zombie. Maybe this one choked itself before turning into the undead?
He lifted the binoculars and focused as much as he could. He saw blue skin. Black hair. And a familiar black line cutting across the Piersonâs face.
Was just about dropped his binoculars. Without hesitation, he leapt over the railing. He hit the ground running, barely believing his own eyes as he caught up to the person.
âEvan?!â

Evan had no clue how long he was walking, days? Weeks? Of course he had pit stops to try and find food and water but even then, it was exhausting having to fend off the undead while trying to take a sip of water.
He knew he was nearing the destination, which caused the blue skinned teen to sort of quicken the pace. He didnât know who was there but god did he want to be able to talk to other people once more.
Until he saw a figure rushing towards him, at first he was confused and a little frightened at who or what was chasing him. Then he heard his name, in that all too familiar tone of voice.
âWade?!â The teen yelled back, feeling himself begin to run over to the other. Thank god for Wade Wilson for still being alive.
They met in the middle. Wadeâs arms reached out to hug the teen the second he could get his hands on him. âItâs so good to see you. I was worried you didnât make it. Or worse.â
He didnât want to imagine what worse was. A zombified Evan he would probably have to put down. Just like X-Force wanted to... no. No, he couldnât do that to Evan. Even if heâd been zombified.
After a moment of hugging, he pulled away, still holding Evan by his shoulders.
âAre you okay? Youâre not injured, right? Because if so, I will carry you through those gates, myself. Just watch me.â

Wade knocked on the door to Peterâs room. He didnât so much knock, as punch repeatedly until someone answered. Even then, he might just punch someone in the face. He has made bigger mistakes.
âPEETAH! Open up! I havenât seen you in, like, a month! I get youâre busy with the girlfriend and all but you gotta have some buddy time, too! What about bros before hoâs?â
He hit the door one last time, just about ready to give up. âOkay. Truth is, I need your help. And youâre probably the only guy willing to give me a shot when it comes to crap like this.â

âYou know Iâm not generally in my room in the middle of the afternoon, right?â Amused Peter came up behind Wade, his hands stuck in his pockets.  When Wade started banging on his door one of his neighbors passed word along to him about the red-suited manâs antics. Â
âYou know youâve been wrapped up in your âman mountainâ yourself you know.â Peter lifted his hands to put air quotes.  âSo does that mean you are calling Nate a ho now? Cause Iâm not calling Laura one. I like all my body parts to remain attached to me. Plus she really isnât one.â
He knew Wade didnât mean anything by that.  Just trying to catch his attention.  âSo, whatâs the deal. What do you need my help with. Before you ask Iâm still not ripping your head off.â
âYou know Iâm the first person to call Nate a âho, true or not.â He turned around to face Peter. âAnd, well, if I called Laura a ho, either you or her psycho big brother would hear me and finally rip my head off.â
âThough I feel like I should give Juggernaut a call, should the need ever arise.â He patted Peter on the shoulder. âYour services are no longer required. Thanks for... I donât know, rejecting me repeatedly when a buddy wanted to die for a minute.â
Forgetting his original plan, he was just about to walk away when the thought struck him.
âNo! Wait! I still need your help!â
He looked around the hallway, expecting someone to turn the corner and foil his plot.
âBut not here. Someplace safe. Quiet. Where absolutely no action occurs, ever.â
He took Peter by the shoulders and ushered him towards Peterâs room. âUnlock it. This is top-secret, no one can know business. Not even Nate.â

Yes yes yes yes. This was a great idea. Honestly? Gwen is gonna place the blame on Quentin. If for some reason Scott starts yelling, of course. Which he probably will. This plan was very reckless and very dumb but also the best fucking think sheâs ever thought up. So fuck off Summers LET HER LIVE!!
Gwen happily grabbed her biggest and best guns with a toothy grin as she skipped out and towards wherever the hell Wade was. Role play magic lead her to him with out any issue. She smiled and waved to get his attention.
âYou, me, go and steal the X Jeep and take turns shooting Zombies from itâs roof.â

He looked up from his refurbished, Pikachu-edition 3DS. Yes, he still played PokĂ©mon when the mood took. And he wouldnât trade his Squirtle for anything.
But there she was. Coming at him with weapons in hand and a look that screamed trouble.
âJust that simple, huh? Steal the Jeep and just hope to hell they left the keys in?â
He sighed. âX-dicks get all the best vehicles. First the Blackbird and now the X-JeepâŠâ
âGod I know right! I hope Quenny can convince X to let us borrow some of them in the West Coast comics,â Gwen mumbled to herself. âAnyways, if all else fails we can hot wire it. You know how to do that right?â She asked as she adjusted the strap on her back. âOr we can pick pocket Scott and see if he has them?âÂ
âYeah, I should be able to hot wire the Jeep.â He said his DS into one of the pouches on his belt. âNot that I donât love a good pick-pocket job, but Scott sees me coming he reflexively reaches for his wallet.â
He stood up, stretching a bit. âBut Iâm down. Just need a little sneaky-sneak to get into the garage, and a little bit of luck to get past the main gate⊠too bad we donât have Domino.â
Gwen nodded. âDomino would be really good to have right now. But hey! Iâm sure you an I can figure it out!â She gave a toothy smile and put her hands on her hips. âNow grab your guns and lets go fuck shit up!âÂ
âAlright! Alright! Iâm going! The zombies will still be there by the time we manage to get out!â
He stopped by his room on the way to the garage and picked up his usual weapons. He also grabbed a pair of Tech 9âs and slung them from his belt.
âYou know. Thereâs this military checkpoint Iâve wanted to raid down a ways from Haven. We could possibly pick up some ammo, maybe something that goes âboomâ?â
The garage wasnât too far away. He checked the corners before sneaking into the main garage where they stored the Jeep. Not seeing anyone around, he made his way to the driver side door, moving for Gwen to follow him.

The person came around the corner. No Storm, or Steve. But some rando Wade had never seen before.
âHi.â He said, flashing his best smile. âJust a little⊠midnight vase fight. You know how it gets, the urge strikes, and you just need to get into a fight with vases!â
He took a look at the vase hitting him in the shoulder with a frown. âOkay, I get it, you got the vase from me! Maybe itâs time to put it down and go back to bed.â
He was crazy. Certifiably insane. That was the only explanation for this whole situation, for what he was rambling on about now.
Darcy rolled her eyes, not budging an inch to put the vase down, and turned her attention to the person who had come to investigate what was going on. âJustââ She gave a small shake of her head, waving with her free hand. âHeâs fucking nuts. But everything is fine. Just a misunderstanding orâŠsomething. I donât know.â
Whoever it was seemed to know Wade, or at least know of him, because they just nodded as if in understanding. âYou sure, miss?â
âYeah. Yeah. IâmâIâm sure.â Darcy seemed to deflate a little at that point, plopping down on the arm of a chair behind her, vase dangling between her knees.
She waited until they had moved on before returning her attention back to her unwanted companion. âYou go to back to bed, dude. Let me read a book or play the piano without shooting anything else up. JesusâŠâ
He breathed a sigh of relief. At least the rando walked off without much of a fuss. No questions about gunshots or anything. Hopefully it never got back to Ororo.
âNah. I donât think Iâll be able to sleep after all that fun. Thank you, by the way. I donât know if my reputation could take another hit like shooting up literature.â
