the dumbass duffers when they found out smalltown boy was a gay anthem and not some random song about being a boy in a small town
like… how many times can you ACCIDENTALLY give a character closet-related imagery in a show without it being symbolic 😭
a lot, apparently
YOU’RE IN THE MILEVEN MONTAGE, NOAH
so the painting literally meant nothing after all
wait i just fucking realized carlton didn’t even get named in the show IM CTFUUUU they hate will bro can’t even get a name for his supposed bf
even as mike thought el was dying he still couldn’t tell her he loved her bro KILL THAT BOYYYYY
not to sound all tin foil hat conspiracy theorist but i have a feeling that byler was originally intended to be canon, but the duffers chickened out after the election last year. explains why byler felt SO possible after volume 1 but suddenly lost all its momentum in volume 2. assuming they filmed vol 1 first, that is. if they filmed episodes 5-7 after you-know-who took office, it would kinda make sense.
i think it’d also explain why vol 2 feels so messy overall. removing the byler storyline would have a butterfly effect on the rest of the characters and their plot lines, resulting in all the nothing burger filler scenes we got.
i know this may be a stretch, but it’s all i’ve been able to think about since finishing vol 2. cause come on… even non-bylers can acknowledge that mike & will were intentionally paired up for the majority of s4. and the shot in the field at the end, with the couples standing next to each other? once again, i think even non-bylers can see that we were supposed to notice that. s4 felt like priming the GA for byler in s5.
regardless if this is true or not, the duffers are absolute cowards for chickening out. imagine building up the best slow burn love story of a generation and fumbling because you’re scared of how people will react. insane work.
the duffers do realize that byler queerbaiting would cause them to lose their ENTIRE queer audience for future projects, right? like… they can’t seriously think a queer person would wanna watch anything else they put out lol
knowing that byler will end up on fox news within the next week is crazy. let’s go woker things
will byers going as seymour krelborn for halloween send tweet

surprised i haven’t seen more of the GA converted to bylerism through the fact that robin and vickie ended up together. cause i feel like even a casual viewer should be able to put two and two together.
“hmm, robin liked vickie last season, but thought she had no chance because vickie was ‘straight’ and had a boyfriend. turns out vickie isn’t straight after all. now they’re a couple. ”
“hmm, will clearly has feelings for mike, but thinks he has no chance because mike is straight and has a girlfriend.”
“-wait a minute…”
like… the duffers really could not have spelled it out any more clearly 😭
the concept of el seeing the van scene in will’s memories and her being the one to tell mike the truth
if stranger things took place in the early 2010’s, i know mike and will would’ve read creepypastas in the dark to try and scare each other
my biggest byler proof is that it still hasn’t happened yet. like… what would be the point of mike rejecting will at this point in the story? if they would’ve done a rejection at the end of s3 (maybe even s4), we could’ve seen mike & will move on and continue being friends. steve moved on from robin, now they’re best friends. dustin moved on from max, and they’re still good friends. if the duffers wanted to write a will rejection arc without things being awkward between him and mike, they could’ve. and should’ve. but they haven’t.
when i pull up to the “timid character with a bowl cut and telekinetic powers” competition and my opponents are these two
