A Spirit in Love
I received a wonderful birthday gift from @vhen-harel — a beautiful Solavellan poem!🥹
I'm deeply touched and truly grateful for all the love and inspiration that went into every line. Thank you for your beautiful words and for such a special gift that spoke straight to my Solavellan heart!
She won't deny her desire for him. It shows plainly in her eyes, in how her body calls to him.

Vir Dirthara: Birds of Fancy
The pages of this book - memory? - describe a pair playing, colliding in the air, bodies formed for kissing, stroking, lines of heat as molten as the sun. The dance is fluid, roiling, never ending, lovers tangled in a laughing knot that rolls on for years, a promise never to be parted, whatever ages come.
An annoyed thought intrudes, from one who marked this memory after it was recorded: “By the gods, find a private chamber!”
Inspired by this text from Trespasser and the marble statue The Waltz, by Camille Claudel, c. 1895.

[ repost from my other blog ] commissioned this piece by @kkekaart. it’s based on the crackers in bed pinup from 1955.
something about love being the death of duty
(some guy on the internet voice) it's so unrealistic and forced when women win fights against men in stories. of course, when a young boy defeats a huge man I'm cheering and screaming because it is so badass, and when a frail old man defeats a cocky young warrior I feel nothing but satisfaction. I love these power fantasies about easily dispatching people who underestimate you, a thing I desire despite the fact that I will likely never have the skill to achieve it in real life, but I'm pretty sure women don't have that same desire, and even if they do, they shouldn't get to see it in media. because it's so unrealistic, you see. I mean I'm smart enough to know I can't take down a big man in a fight but the women, you know, they'll get ideas. I could probably do it if I trained hard enough, but the women??? for some reason I can't see it happening, and who can say why that is.

A Fine Romance
Thank you for the tag @vhen-harel!
Share your favorite romance scenes that you've written. Kisses, dramatic confessions, tragic partings, tearful reunions—whatever you like.
Part 1
Actually, I drew kisses and such when publishers forced me to. For example, in books supposedly about love. Although "Tender is the Night," which I illustrated, is not really a book about love. But I was asked to draw a kiss there.
I want to depict love not through kisses (or anything 18+), but through lingering glances. To depict the happiness of simply being together. That's why I try to draw facial expressions and gestures.
That's what these two pictures are about. In fact, they are the same. I hope I managed to draw the looks of lovers
That's why I love solavellan so much. It's about seeing each other despite our differences. We are different, but we are together and see each other, understand and accept each other. For me, Solavellan isn't a variation on "The Taming of the Shrew" (I don't Likes that play, it's about violence), and it's not about two people Fighting , meaning they'll kiss. No, they won't. Solavellan is about Understanding. Solas wanted to be seen. To sing a single song in a duet. A duet isn't singing in unison. It's the harmony of two voices. He initially wanted it from Mithol. But he got it from Lavellan. That's why the terrible wolf fell in love for the first time, the first time someone saw him. And she began to sing a duet with him. Not adapting to him, not forcing him to sing his song. And two voices sing a single song, but each voice has its own part.
Disclaimer: Sorry, English is not my native language. And I live in a country where English is not spoken. So I hope what I'm writing is clear.
I genuinely can't stop thinking about these two. Help

When the Camp Sleeps...
I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this one... I think the lighting is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. I am very proud of my little embers, though! That was legitimately a lot of fun to paint. Idk, something feels off. Maybe it's the character's anatomy, maybe the pose is too stiff? Constructive criticism from my fellow artists and art enthusiasts is greatly appreciated! Full below:
I realize this is all a decade late, but having finally finally played the Trespasser DLC with my Lavellan, I can't stop crashing out over how much the Crossroads revelations would unravel her to her CORE. The impact it would have on most Solasmance Inquisitors, probably. (including male Lavellans because lbh Solas would be pansexual af)
Like, how quickly the discoveries come, that series of mosaics shaking the foundations of the Dalish religion, giving flashes and echoes of rhetoric that sounds eerily familiar.
In this place, you are free. Ar lasa mala revas. You are free. a man in wolfskin standing with a group of freed slaves, clasping one's arm in friendship A wolf jawbone necklace. A wolf pelt around narrow shoulders. You miss court intrigue? When were you at court? Oh. Well, never… directly, of course. The gods, our Evanuris, claim divinity, yet they are naught but mortals powerful in magic who can die as you can. You gave yourself into the service of an ancient elven god! I don’t believe they were gods, no, but I believe that they existed! The brand of the Evanuris can be lifted from you, that all may know you oppose their cruelties. They are slave markings, or at least, they were in the time of ancient Arlathan. If you like, I know a spell… I can remove the vallaslin.
And then, almost right after, stepping into the sanctuary and seeing this:
The absolute gut-punch my romanced Lavellan would feel seeing this. Remembering that night in Crestwood. How he spoke and the sudden breakup and all of it. Personally, for me, this is when she knows the truth of Solas's identity. Other murals and qunari notes add to it, but she already has all the confirmation she needs and her entire world is undone.
Like, the only half-decent comparison I can come up with: imagine being a Christian and finding out the Serpent in the Garden of Eden was actually a guy and that guy just happened to be the one you'd been making out with. Who called you his heart and kissed you like his life depended on it. The absolute mindfuck that would be.
What I really need to do is fanfiction the shit out of all this but I don't have time and I am ALL DESPAIR.
SOOOOO NORMAL ABOUT THEM. SO NORMAL. LOOK AT THEIR FRECKLES (BOTH OF THEM YES). yes it’s based on the piece by joe bowler. (by @lethallana) close-ups under the cut.
