natalie portman radiates such a terrifying energy i canāt describe itā¦.. itās not exactly evil but itās not warm eitherā¦. i feel like she could unhinge her jaw and drag me into the ocean like a kraken but she wouldnāt bc itās undignifiedĀ
Wanna know why?
āOscar-winning actress Natalie Portman told the crowd at Saturdayās Womenās March in downtown Los Angeles that she experienced what she calls āsexual terrorismā as a 13-year-old after the release of the film The Professional.
Portman described her pride and excitement in releasing the film, only to encounter sexually explicit messages both directed toward her and made about her.
āI excitedly opened my first fan mail to read a rape fantasy that a man had written me,ā she recalled. āA countdown was started on my local radio show to my 18th birthday, euphemistically the date that I would be legal to sleep with. Movie reviewers talked about my budding breasts in reviews.ā
The experience, she said, changed the way she expressed herself publicly, in order to limit the ways she could be objectified by others.
āI understood very quickly, even as a 13-year-old, that if I were to express myself sexually, I would feel unsafe,ā she said. āAnd that men would feel entitled to discuss and objectify my body to my great discomfort. So I quickly adjusted my behavior. I rejected any role that even had a kissing scene and talked about that choice deliberately in interviews. I emphasized how bookish I was and how serious I was. And I cultivated an elegant way of dressing. I built a reputation for basically being prudish, conservative, nerdy, serious, in an attempt to feel that my body was safe and that my voice would be listened to.ā
Video of the speech here:Ā https://www.vox.com/2018/1/21/16917130/natalie-portman-womens-march
I support Natalie Portman unhinging her jaw and dragging every last man who made her feel this way into the deep like a kraken.
[15 year old voice] i want this attractive band member to rip my arm off and hit me with it. i want him to waterboard me until i forget my own name. i wish heād strap me into a death ray and tear me apart on a molecular level
You can say frank iero stans, itās okay
How do we explain to 40+ year olds online that you canāt just end every sentence with āā¦ā without conveying a really ominous vibe lol.
i love that this post has informed me that thousands of other people my age are terrified by totally innocuous messages from parents, professors, and bosses.Ā
i feel like this is important for black travelers who are driving long distances:
but what are some sundown towns do yāall know of? like if someone were to do a cross-country trip, what are some towns they should absolutely not go through?
Small towns in south ga and noth fla
Ga: Jonesboro, tifton, Albany, valdosta, Macon
Fla: Gainesville, Perry, Madison, Marianna, Quincy, Jefferson county, hell I wouldnāt stop in Tallahassee either
Texas: Vidor, Orange, Deep Santa Fe
Texas: Jasper & Lumberton
Iām from Albany and recently the police beat up a young brother for no reason. They were attempting to say he had drugs but he of course had nothing.
If you go to Stone Mountain and find yourself on the trails close to night leave because they still have active Klan rallys up there
I was driving through north Florida during the day and I felt uncomfortable
The Negro Motorist Green Book was guide for black folk traveling in the 60s. Itās gives a breakdown of sundown towns. 50 years later, Iām sure itās still relevant.
I feel like the Deep South is just a gamble.
Ohioā¦just in general
Central Florida, especially the little towns. If you must stop to pump gas, pay away the pump and get outta there asap
Once you get out of St. Louis county start being careful.
St. Genevieve, MO is definitely a no go for me if Iām traveling south.
If traveling in Louisiana stay away from small town with low speeding zones. If you are to go into those please drive the speed limit and donāt stop for gas. You will get a ticket for tint of your car. If your military I pay you drive the speed limit and donāt have a military tag. Get gas in the daylight.
Iām glad youāre looking out for your bros, at the same time itās a pathetic look at the country in the 21st century.
Saving this and reblogging for myself and my tumblr fam stay safe love you guys (also check the notes for comments on more cities to avoid)
Ohio: Hartville, Sebring, Salem are all in NE Ohio. Had the worst experience of my life in Hartville.
Mississippi. Just. All of it. Especially if youāre LGBT and a POC.
The reading comprehension and overall common sense on this website is piss poor.
how dare you say we piss on the poor
so a racist got utterly demolished in less than 30 seconds on the New Zealand morning news on Monday and itās one of the most beautiful things Iāve ever seen
who knew a white guy could be capable of such an iconic response, he knows whatās up and is having none of that shit, every other white guy take notes tbh
I love that he said Pakeha
Can someone write what its being said in this?
Male co-host: We have had a whole heap of feedback regarding Te Tai Tokerau MP Kelvin Davisās proposal to institute a prison run on MÄori values into New Zealand. Heās looking at potentially establishing this prison up north. It isnāt Labour policy just yet, itās just an idea of Kelvin Davisās. And this has been really really divisive on our Facebook page this morning. (sarcastically) Here I think we have the single greatest email, the single greatest message we have ever had on breakfast.
(clears throat deliberately) āāJaniceā says: Good morning. Iām sick of hearing that MÄori need different treatment. If they donāt want to live in our society, then maybe we should put them all on an island and leave them to it.ā
Male co-host: āJanice. That is LITERALLY what happened! That is the history of our country. Last I checked, MÄori WERE on an island, they were left to it, and then PÄkehÄ (MÄori term for white New Zealanders) turned up and look how that worked out. But thank you very much for that brilliant insight. Goodness me. Unbelievable. Unbelievable, they actually-ā
Female co-host: āActually, you canāt even get angry, you just actually need to laugh and then screw it up and put it under the desk. Just when you thought-ā
Male co-host: (mimicking letter) āāPut them all on an island, leave them to it.ā Yeah. What a great idea that is Janice.
I really needĀ āWhat a great idea that is, Janice.ā to be a meme filled with those stupid complete cognitive dissonance bigoted statements.

And that⦠is Amortentia! The most powerful love potion in the world. Itās rumored to smell differently to each person, according to what attracts them. For example, I smell freshly mown grass and new parchment and spearmint toothpaste.
