I had the privilege to watch the recent film " Remarkably Bright Creatures " on Netflix and absolutely loved it. You may say that it brought me here. Octopuses are some of the coolest beings on the planet without a doubt. Each arm can taste, touch, and even make decisions independently.

Fly Me Back Radio

Running an internet radio station in today's environment is one of those rare creative ventures where the old magic of radio meets the new freedom of the digital world. And to plan a return to the airwaves this spring would be a most surreal moment. Yes I had a brief period with destiny a few years ago. I have always been a music historian and an advocate for today's emerging independent artists.

Am looking forward to the total creative freedom i.e. not being boxed in by corporate playlists and format clocks. Perhaps the closest thing to being a curator, historian, and filmmaker all at once.

I give a nod to those who champion artists and genres that deserve a spotlight but rarely get one... I'm talking about here and other active platforms. Radio is evolving, not dying. People still crave human curation... maybe more than ever in this algorithm era.

A music track for the moment belongs to Khruangbin with “People Everywhere (Still Alive)” beecauzze... the title speaks for itself. It's a global groove that feels like a reminder of shared humanity. A celebration of resilience and human spirit, and finally a reminder that despite everything, people keep going.

Khruangbin’s name means “airplane” in Thai, and their early sound was heavily inspired by 1960s funk.

Like a quiet vow spoken under a wide sky. There are times when I feel like naming a kind of shelter that isn’t tied to weather, circumstance, or mood, but to intention. A place we can all choose to hold open, even when the world tilts.

There are so many songs to choose from for this moment... one of them that comes to mind is “Holocene” from indie folk band Bon Iver. This song hits me in a place where humility and transcendence meet. Frontman Justin Vernon has said the title refers to a Portland bar where he had a “dark night of the soul.”

The song sits in that paradox of "You’re special and not special at the same time." That duality is something almost everyone recognizes but rarely articulates.

So this may come off as a silly Q. But in all fairness, it is a conversation that is well worth a few minutes of time... yours, mine, and even the fool on the hill.

Why is it important to be kind? After hearing such a question, I gathered my thoughts and with a cool grin, I replied... Because we walk past hundreds of people every day, and none of them wear signs that say, "I'm grieving," "I'm exhausted," or "I'm barely holding it together." But they are everywhere. Kindness might be the only softness they receive today.

Kindness isn’t weakness... it’s wisdom. It’s the hush between heartbeats, the balm in a world that bruises too easily. We don’t need to know someone’s story to soften their day. We just need to show up with grace.

Dear readers and listeners, I rarely share something personal about myself so here it goes. This song cuts deep, it's so relevant to me. I share it for anyone out there who might need to feel seen, held, or reminded you are not alone... I see you.

It’s a reflection of a period in my life that’s been both tragic and transformative...the loss of my father, the birth of a new me. Not a reinvention...an emergence. Forged through fire, softened by grace, and ready to rise.

Common Saints is the solo project of London-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Charlie J. Perry.

Damita Jo DeBlanc (1930–1998) was a soul, pop, and jazz singer born in East Austin, Texas. She attended Samuel Huston College in Austin and the University of California at Santa Barbara, balancing her Texas roots with West Coast opportunities.

Signed to Discovery Records, she released her debut single “Until the Real Thing Comes Along” in 1949. She gained national attention with - I’ll Save the Last Dance for You (1960) – a response to The Drifters hit. And - I’ll Be There (1961) – a reply to Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”, reaching #12 on the Billboard pop chart.

The airwaves are an exploratory space to talk about whatever your heart desires. I have many stories and reflections I’ll eventually share from past experiences. Opinions will always differ, so the topic below is intended to spark some critical thinking.

~ Stability matters to most of us. But the way we develop and use technology often creates uncertainty—disrupting how we live, work, and connect. If we want stable lives, we need to ensure that technology helps deliver what people truly need to live well.

The laws and policies we shape determine how new technologies evolve—and who they serve. These should be designed to benefit everyone. But right now, that isn’t happening.

The rewards of emerging tech are massively uneven. A wealthy few reap enormous profits from platforms and tools that destabilize livelihoods and reshape entire industries. Meanwhile, low-income communities too often bear the cost—through biased crime prediction software, discriminatory banking algorithms, and shrinking opportunities.

We’re being forced to adapt at the pace of the powerful. That has to change.

We need technology that serves us—not replaces or undermines us. We need stronger checks on tech giants, so they operate in the public’s interest. We need protections for workers, ensuring that innovation improves jobs rather than eliminates them. And we need tech that’s affordable and accessible to all, regardless of background or income.
