My favorite Jegulus fics in no particular order because I have many opinions and feel the need to voice them all‼️

(Keep in mind that these are not summaries so if you don’t know the plots to any of these, this post probably won’t be of much help. This is just me rambling about my experiencing reading them and how much I loved them)

1. Art heist, baby!

Fun fact this was actually my first marauders era fic ever. This will always be favorite Jegulus because their dynamic is exactly what love is to me. Everything about them is just so beautiful. I also love this fic because everything about it is just so iconic. The red and green shutters, the pink sticky note, the orange muffins, every single painting they mention. It’s all so distinctly part of the fandom. Art heist baby just has this unmatchable energy and the characters all felt like such a family (i especially loved Barty, Evan, and Regulus because of this) They all found each other for this short but beautiful part of their lives which they got to spend together accomplishing this incredible task and I just think that’s so wonderful. I love art heist baby so much.

2. Grow old together just to pass the time

I read this in one sitting and it literally changed my life. Also the author (meremythos) is my tumblr pal so if you’re seeing this, I loved your fic so muchhh! This Jegulus is the most accurate characterization of them to how I imagine them that I’ve ever read. They hold each other up and their lives are just so intertwined that you can barely tell who is who in the tangle. Like, they have their own support systems but they need each other. They just need each other. This fic is what comes to mind when I hear the term soulmates. James and regulus were made for each other in it. The whole things is so well written and moved me so much emotionally. And somehow, through all of this beautiful and poetic writing, mixed with it’s heartbreaking angst, it manages to be absolutely HILARIOUS. Nothing but good things to say about this fic. Wish I could read it for the first time again.

3. The Long Game

This fic changed how I look at Jegulus forever. Imagining them as these very real people and what they would’ve been doing if they had gotten the opportunity to just be normal teenagers SHATTERED ME. And the whole thing is just so charming and funny. The dynamics between all of the characters are hilarious and I genuinely loved all of them. They felt so real. It is THE muggle highschool au. Everything about it was just so engaging and I absolutely loved every moment of it. I felt so immersed in this fic and it made Jegulus feel so REAL.

4. Borrow my name

Read it in one go and I have never cried over a fic so much in my life. Which is especially impressive because the fic is relatively short compared to other works in the marauders fandom (*cough cough* all the young dudes, crimson rivers, tcoptp, choices, etc) The way it explained Regulus’ view of love is so interesting and also really realistic. Also this is gonna sound silly but the way he thinks of it reminds me of that song they play in Shrek that goes “then I saw her face! Now I’m a believer” (I forget what it’s called) James being so happy go lucky all the time whilst simultaneously being in the trenches and wanting the lord to take him was very true to how I imagine him also. Their relationship just felt so raw and real. They’re so messy in this. This fic smashed my heart into a million pieces and I would do it all over again for that ending. Truly can’t put into words how much this fic impacted me emotionally.

5. I adored you madly, extravagantly, absurdly

This fic literally stopped me from reading other fics for a week because it felt like I was cheating on it. I was literally too emotionally attached to move on. Regulus and James are SO in love in this fic it’s genuinely insane. My favorite part of this fic though would probably be the rosekiller and Wolfstar. The background relationships both have their own arcs and they’re SO well written that I sometimes forgot it was mainly a Jegulus fic. I was fully invested in what was happening with every single character in this story. Also special shout out to Sirius in this fic. He’s so perfectly selfish but also so loving towards the people he cares about. The way he treats Remus shows how absolutely WHIPPED he is, but also how cruel he can be towards people who hold power over him. Also, the author put so much research into the fic (it takes place in the Victorian era) and you can so clearly tell by the writing. Everything is just handled so well and the author is so educated on everything, while still telling an entertaining fictional story. Regulus is trans in this fic and the author puts SO MUCH research into how that could’ve been possible in that time period that I was in genuine awe of them. The passion that went into writing it was so clear and I love it so dearly.

Remus and Sirius have hated each other ever since they met in the elevator on Remus's first day of work. When that very same elevator breaks down and traps them together two years later, they have nowhere to go, and nothing to do except address the tension.

4. On a Pillow of Blue Bonnets - WIP, slowburn enemies(ish) to lovers wolfstar, background rosekiller, dorlene, and jegulus

Sirius Black is spinning out of control and all of his friends are terribly worried about him. After announcing his departure from the acting career forced on him since birth by his parents, and getting caught in a compromising position by paparazzi, Sirius starts coming apart at the seams. His best friends and estranged brother all decide to send him away to their uni friend's ranch in Montana to "get away for a while". Remus Lupin says yes to doing a huge favour for an old friend, but he has no idea what he's getting himself into- or how much it's going to change his life.

5. The Facility - james centric, jegulus, prologue to a WIP i haven't posted yet :)

It's been a long while since James Potter was kidnapped. He knows it's been longer than six months, but anything beyond that is a mystery. It's also irrelevant, because James Potter is ready to escape.
