“Diapers, bibs, places to stay, stuff like that.” The day to day expenses of parenthood were about as much as health class said, if not more when something went wrong and you had to spend your morning in urgent care, cuddling an angry infant. That had been a day. A long, long day. “I had some life events come up, you know how those go.” Granted, not everyone took the same path as her, though, this woman’s magic seemed to show some differences in their worlds.
Eventually, though, she chuckles. “If I have it in me, I’ll get more. You’re welcome to see! I really just want more plant life. I’ll feel more at home I guess, better.” Breathe in, breathe out, don’t think of the cults and the voices that hang around her. Her odd and terrible dreams.
“Sorry to disappoint, but I didn’t want to get your hopes up on the whole thing. I tend to be a one person only sort of gal.” That’s how it’s always been, at least, and doing more than that seems uncomfortable. She adores Remy, after all, and how he looks at her. Miriam is hard-pressed to give that up.
“It’s been months.” She admits that much, fiddling with a few strands of deep, red hair. “So, yeah? I guess I qualify as experienced in this neck of the woods. Why? What sort of job?” Miriam taps her foot in her shoe, hand rubbing at her chin without much thought. “Looking to find out about something? A building? People? I can try to help out. Granted, I mainly focus on the place I own.”
“Ah.” It’s immediately obvious what she means and it’s only mildly uncomfortable for Ba’al. Children- no babies, specifically . . . Are not a thing she enjoys thinking of, especially as of late. There’s a noticeable difference in her gaze as she looks away from the red head. Melancholy, her voice is a little humorless now- she doesn’t bother hiding it this once. “Yes, I am familiar with life events, and how they go.”
It’s a temporary thing though and she gathers herself back up again in no time, facing the other as if nothing had changed. “Plant life is good, flowers, thorns, vines, trees, they’re all rather pleasing to the eye. I have a fondness for them as well.” She isn’t particularly disappointed of course, it’s understandable. She was a pretty lady after all. “To each their own of course, it’s been awhile since I’ve been stuck to just one.”
Her eyes do perk up a bit at the mention of being somewhat of a veteran here and a small head tilt at the mention of ‘the place she owns’. “Yes, back where I’m from I worked in something . . . Similar to the military. Sort of like an off-branch of the main thing. I figured I could do police-work, maybe protect people here. I also did a lot of information gathering, interacting with the press, writing reports. Reeeeeeaaaaaaal fun stuff.” A small sigh before she continues. “It’s nice to have a sense of consistency in life though. I have to admit I’ve been somewhat of a drifter since arriving here. So as boring as those later parts were, anything would do really. I just need a . . . Distraction.”
