My friend Mohammed, his daughter Mona, and their whole family are currently trying to escape Gaza as the opportunity to do so presents itself again.

As time goes on and people continue to doubt the legitimacy of Gazan fundraisers, I must reaffirm that I know Mohammed personally, and have been in close communication with him for over a year. If nothing else, I can offer a picture of Mona by the tent they've been able to afford with previous donations.

The problem with story concepts is that they take a while to ferment, so you think of something at 3am and you're like "wow that's fucked up" and then it sits in the back of your head for 3-12 months until it's ready and by then you're used to it so you're like "oh yeah the thing, the totally normal thing" and you write it and put it out in the world and people are like "wow that's fucked up" and you're like "what do you mean? It's literally normal?"

1. Be educated enough on the basics and look through posts from people in the community. However remember that all plurality is different and it's okay to have variety. It too can be a spectrum

2. Please please please avoid anything that most mainstream media shows. Please do not make "evil murderer insane alter personality". I know it's vague to go "avoid harmful tropes as much as possible" but do your best to be aware of them

3. Have fun, get creative, portray the plural character in a compassionate light and as a nuanced individual (not "individual" bc they're a system but you get what I mean). Take steps to humanize them and their headmates and think about personal details just as much as the more "medical" ones

I've found @this-is-pluralphobia a pretty decent blog who might know more resources. I could also suggest pluralpedia but that might seem super overwhelming at first. I'd suggest you just peruse the basics through there. You don't need to get caught up in having your plural character be super throughly thought out with system roles and specifics so long as you have everything together as a cohesive and narratively satisfying concept. You can make your character's system super detailed if you feel like it but you can also focus on other stuff such as their coexistence and how their experience being plural affects things around them such as relationships and day to day life. I'd say that's pretty solid for getting started
