im sure its common knowledge now that furudate likes to use animal motifs for his characters. fukurodani seems to be one of the most blatant cases lmao.

*note: even though his name doesn’t indicate a specific owl, the one I chose for bokuto is a Rock Eagle Owl, based on the owl furudate draws in official art.

3/14/21 edit: looking back at this post, I realize there are some mistakes that I’d like to amend:

konohazuku actually refers to the eurasian scops owl. however, the white faced scops owl is technically a konohazuku as well (full name is africa-o-konohazuku, referring to its natural habitat/range in south africa). all scops owls and screech owls belong to the same genus “Otus.” in japanese they all have the same “konohazuku” epithet.  sarukui IS based on a verreux’s eagle owl, however the name in japanese can either be sarukui fukurou or kuro washi mimizuku 

for bokuto, mimizuku can refer to any owl with ear tufts (mimi meaning ear). fukurou is the term used for owls w/o ear tufts. the rock eagle owl is officially called the minami washi mimizuku. washi mimizuku can refer to the eurasian eagle owl, but the phrase is included in the names of all eagle owls

Oh my god I need this to happen ASAP can you imagine the shenaningans?

1. Fukurodani. Both Bokuto and Akaashi are known to eat…a lot. I guess no one will ever beat them, especially if Yukie is competing too!

2. Karasuno. They are the most feared competitors in this, with Hinata, Kageyama, Nishinoya and Tanaka as the MVPs. Crows are omnivores and they will literally eat you too if they need to. 

3. Aoba Johsai. We’re about to see them eating in the upcoming movie, but I’m sure if the competition is about ramen they are second to no one!

4. Nekoma. “We are the body’s blood–flow smoothly and circulate oxygen so the brain functions normally" and surely they’re used to eat LOTS of food to do that. But please don’t make the brain Kenma participate too!

5. Dateko. I don’t know why, but I feel like those big boys would be surprisingly very competitive about this. After all, who is Futakuchi to back out of a challenge?

- bonus: if this was a drinking challenge tho…ALL the teams will be dead by the time Johzenji actually starts to feel even remotely tipsy.

What does your drawing process look like? Like how do you go about sketching the characters? I really admire your art and anatomy

😭😭😭😭😭 thanks for saying so, anatomy’s so hard and it’s crazy to hear this because I KNOW I am never correct…

For my process (aka haze state where I manifest my desires) if it’s like a bust-up shot I usually just start at the face and work out from there, but if it’s full-body I do a sketch first where I decide where the joints and limbs will be. I don’t have great examples because I try not to draw more than just like.. neck up most of the time, but here are some occasions where I did:
