I feel like the whole "the Batman fandom doesn't read the comics" shame phrase only makes the casual fans less willing to read the comics.

Hold my hand as I walk you through why:

Because if this thing that they enjoy right now as a viewer, -an observer of someone's thoughts and what they like and dislike about the source material- turned out to be completely false and fabricated and someone's silly little daydream.

Then it's not worth it.

yes it's not worth interacting with the source material if one enjoys the lies that hold its name.

Because from where they're standing, someone calling bullshit on fun is just saying that the holy original text is the opposite which is super not fun

and that would DEFINITELY be something they won't enjoy

And we as humans, are naturally more inclined to preserve what brings us happiness.

So while I hate when people don't even put in the effort to get familiar with Batman before running off with the fanon, I do understand that it's simply coming from a place of hesitation.

So all this to say; if you haven't done so yet, pick up a Batman comic, if you didn't enjoy it then don't worry about that.

You have 80 years worth of stories to pick from. I promise you this isn't all of it

His mind went blank as he tried to comprehend what Bruce had said, done, and given him.

Hal was about to leave for another assignment, something minor that wouldn't take all month, hopefully. He was ready for the usual huffing and puffing of his particularly clingy boyfriend ("Yes Bruce, boyfriend; I don't care if we're both almost 50.") who would definitely run the argument that his work schedule is more atrocious than his own and Hal still owes a specific number of kisses.

What he hadn't expected was Bruce stopping him by the door and handing him a Batman plushie, pushing it against his chest for him to take.

"What's this for?"

To that, Bruce sputtered about for a few seconds, averting his gaze but failing to hide the adorable pink blush spreading across his pouty cheeks.

"So you... can still kiss me while you're away."

Hal blinked.

Blinked really hard.

Blinked really good.

Then promptly fell to his knees, groaning into his palms because "BRUCE YOU CAN'T BE THIS CUTE WHEN I'M ABOUT TO GO TO WORK ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME—!?"

The most annoying thing about being a Bruce fan in the Batman fandom is actually not the casual blatant hate he gets from the Batfamily fans, or DC fans as whole or the casual dismissive of everything he does because surely one of his kids could do it better

It's actually the fact that no post about Bruce stays about Bruce. Someone will bring up one of his fuckass kids, or make it about said fuckass kid, or reclaim it for the damn fuckass kid

If I wanted to see my post-or any post for that matter- about them kids, I wouldn't have made the damn post with Bruce's name written bold and clear and said multiple times. I'm not stupid, I know what I meant and I know how to spell and I clearly spelled and wrote Bruce's name right so it has to be about him, if I wanted to see content about the kids I would've looked for it, if you want content for the kids make it yourself

Don't be stupid, read and understand if this post is about them fuckass kids before tagging fuckass kids, or worse bringing them up to twist it as a plot for them

Hmmmm that's a hard one to answer.

I'm kind of boring in that regard honestly but if I had to say then my top controversial ship would be

Ra's Al ghoul and Bruce Wayne,

I would really like to say that there's no reason, but there is and it's because I like to explore Bruce's relationship with authority and mentor figures. Ra's Al ghoul tests the boundaries of mentorship and grooming for leadership, and almost if not actual affection to his pupil

Plus there's the aesthetic of it just looking good

It's kind of obvious why it's controversial, that man is an immortal leader of a secret society who attempted to kill Bruce multiple times, he's so much older and the power imbalance is absolutely unbelievable. And his son's grandfather so

It's not one I particularly enjoy or read about but it is really interesting to me and I would definitely love to explore it in the future

Honestly I don't know about any other ship, because every ship is in fact controversial in a way

Out of all of Bruce's mentors/masters she's the one we see the least of. Most of her scenes are focused on her surroundings or her disguise, and I love that detail a lot
