the vampire lestat was uhhh. how u say. not good
does anyone remember the amc show interview with the vampire? one of the greatest things television gave us in its era. heartbreaking that it ended after two seasons when those characters were so beautifully crafted. i really wish we could’ve had more.
this show.
To paraphrase well-worn criticism of TVL: "Lestat is the writers' favorite woobified blorbo and all other characters are essentially shafted now for his benefit."
I fully agree, and YET they are still fucking that one up! Because s3!Lestat has never been less complex or likable or interesting to follow! In a season supposedly all about him, he is actively stripped of agency and an actually detailed backstory, both of which were central to the source material. He is given trauma that is fully made up for the show (and in parts just cannibalized from other characters' stories, mostly prominently Armand) as if that inherently balances out the lack of care given to the flashbacks, because trauma=character depth shortcut that you as the audience just cannot argue against, I guess. Flaws and admitting (or denying) fault? That's for suckers, too - clearly, it's an external force as nebulous as Akasha's blood that is truly to blame!
And then there is the cringe memeification of his base speech patterns. Louis is defined by his reflective, lyrical monologues. Lestat, meanwhile, is "serving cunt".
The writers have royally screwed over all other characters in the service of absolutely fucking nothing of value.
taylor swift getting married just to one-up the vampire lestat…
has anybody heard about armand
lestat having a musical written about his life by elton john which got negative critiques all across the board and only had a 2 month run on broadway before closing is the most lestat thing that could happen to him
"it’s very Ursula LeGuin"

iwtv is back I’m defrosting
every season the evilest vampire gets to rock a cunty little bob. last season lestat got the bob, now it's armands turn. heavy is the head that wears the cunty little bob
…is this my legacy
every season the evilest vampire gets to rock a cunty little bob. last season lestat got the bob, now it's armands turn. heavy is the head that wears the cunty little bob
lestat said, "match my freak" and armand understood the assignment
@ursulaklesbian It is crucially important that you are aware the actors have seen this post. They were asked during a Q&A session who would be rocking the cunty little bob in season 3. I dare not tell you their response
HOLY SHIT WHAT
it is so incredibly funny how everyone predicted the difference in promotion between tvl and iwtv. like we all knew already but it still sucks
maybe my favorite bunch of the season
