Jungwon only wanted to reach Jeju Island.
Yang Jungwon, the sole heir to Yang Youngho's franchise of the most popular bakery and rice cake shop of Korea, Y.Y Confectionery. And despite people thinking he had everything, two things he couldn't ever have was freedom beyond his work and a love life. At the ripe age of 25, his grandfather's constant intervention in his life and decisions led to him never finding love.
But he still loved his grandfather, afterall all he has is because of him.
On a rather eventful day of his grandfather's birthday, his bestfriends Jay and Riki with the rest of his group, informs him of an upcoming trip to Jeju they have planned to take him to.
Much to his luck, Yang Youngho, the biggest fan of the korean baseball team, passes away on his 100th birthday, from shock of seeing his favourite player miss their 100th homerun. Tragic, if you ask me.
Not for Jungwon, who finally decides it's time for him to find freedom. But then his grandmother presents him with a task, his grandfather's last wish— to immerse his ashes in the water of Busan, to fullfill grandpa's last wish.
Although he planned to do the same in Jeju itself, a turn of events occurred when while getting off the train he found a young girl running after the train.
And helping that girl get onto the train became the biggest plot twist of his life.
Han Y/N was a teacher in Seoul but beyond Seoul, she was the heir of the biggest trading group of imports and exports in Korea and the daughter of the most dangerous Mafia group leader of Busan. Her father was a feared man who only listened to himself and no one else.
When Han Dooshik decided he wanted to marry his daughter off to his right hand man, Kang Taejun, also the biggest gang leader and cold blooded fighter, Y/N found herself getting abducted from the roads of Seoul by her own big, scary cousins to be taken back to Busan for her marriage.
To escape this forced, ill fate, Y/N did the next best thing. She ran away. With the gang member cousins in tow, she ran to the nearest train station and found a train leaving the station. Running after it she found a man standing near the closest door and stretched her hand out to be helped up into the train.
And as their hands intertwined, so did their fates, right there on the Busan Express.
Yang Jungwon
25; Sole heir of Y.Y confectionary franchise.
Grandson of the owner of the biggest bakery and rice cake shop franchise in Korea.
Rich, spoiled, sarcastic, a little narcissistic.
(face-claim optional: roh jeong-eui)
Han Y/N
24 ; Runaway bride & heir to Han Group Traders.
Daughter of the biggest trading group in Busan and also the Big Boss of Busan's most dangerous underground mafia group.
Y/n stood behind the large kitchen counter, nervously glancing at the apartment full of idols. She remembered Heeseung saying it is a "small" party. This small party consisted of the whole of LESSERAFIM (whom she was somewhat familiar with due to their former manager Ella being one of her closest friends.), some of the ILLIT members like Moka and Yunah, who are the only people she had full conversations with as she was part of their management team for the past one year. She also saw the TXT members along with some of the members of &Team. She was also in awe of the fact some idols like I.N of Straykids and Chenle of NCT were roaming around. It felt a bit stuffy, the smell of alcohol, a large assortment of it, was overbearing her senses. Y/N not a drinker, it was a rare occurrence for her, and the sole reason of this was that her tolerance was very, very low. Hence she kept herself at distance when it came to the liquor. But right now as she felt embarassment creep under skin, feeling herself stand rigidly like an outsider, which she was, within a large group of people, she was almost considering it.
She remembered how she would never feel any sense of belonging anywhere. Not at home, not in school, not in uni. Moulding herself in a way that fits people's expectation of a nice young woman, a fun friend. She frowned, glancing at Heeseung, who had only spared her a busy "Hi, kid!". She knew it was stupid for her to expect the boys to be more friendly with her, afterall, they only know her for a week or two. And they have other friends—
"Why are you being so sulky?" She heard a familiar voice beside her.
"I'm not being sulky." She scoffed. Jay clicked his tongue slightly, "have you seen your face? You look like the movie characters where she gets cheated on by her boyfriend with her bestfriend and her bestfriend invites to a party to embarass her."
"what kind of movies do you even watch. What the fuck." She cringed.
"I just have a resting sad face." She quipped, quickly glancing up at the idol. She found herself staring at his wrist watch for a second, "sick watch."
"Uh…Thanks." Jay said, caught off guard.
She did notice the rest of him, black full sleeve t-shirt that had it arms rolled up to his elbows, a neat pair of jeans, hair brushed out of his forehead. His usual cap and hoodies missing.
"So…. what's the issue with you?" Jay asked again.
"Firstly, there's no issue. Secondly, why do you care? You literally called me a horse the other day." She mumbled, picking up a cup from the tray infront of her to distract herself from her evident "issue" of feeling unwanted everywhere. The drink smelt like berries, figuring it is just a mocktail, she chugged some of it down.
Jay watched her intently, glancing at the Soju cocktail Sunghoon made for people who don't like direct liquor, in her hand with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, you looked like you were about to throw up…"
"I am not used to so many idols in one place without me running behind them with costumes. Chastise me for being awkward I guess." She sighed.
"They are just some people. And…you know standing at one place waiting for someone to come and save you isn't cool. Sunoo was looking for you." He said, picking up a drink before sipping on it.
Y/n stared at him for a while, genuinely considering his words before she started looking for Sunoo.
By the time she found Sunoo she could feel her limbs grow a bit heavy and her feet stumble. Whatever was in that nice tasting drink she just finished, she had a feeling was not non-alcoholic. She reached Sunoo and slurred something out. Sunoo, already drunk, slurred out something even more stupid to which she giggled. Sunghoon who was leaning on the couch behind them gave her a weird look.
"Are you drunk, Y/n?" He asked, although it was obvious by the way she was obnoxiously laughing at absolutely nothing, face flushed.
He couldn't believe it, he had never seen her let go of her professionalism in person. Sunoo grabbed her hand excitedly, talking about their favourite Pokemon characters, Y/n encouraging him throughout.
"Stop, they look so cute. It's like two marshmallows talking." Yunjin chuckled, as she walked over with Heeseung.
"This is the first time I'm seeing her smile so much." Heeseung said, smiling. "I honestly feel sad sometimes, watching her work so hard. It's just like us, loosing the years we could've had fun without everything getting so serious."
"You're acting like an unc again. Ugh." Yunjin smacked his shoulder before walking away.
Somewhere in between Y/N started singing Mamma Mia by Abba as it started playing on the music system, hitting the notes perfectly well even while being drunk. Sunghoon winced at how close she was to his ear but still smiled when he saw her wide smile, glancing at Jungwon who was happily recording their manager. Jay who sat on her other side had his eyes fixated on her, lips lifting up slightly at how full of life she looked. Suddenly she stood up,
"Mamma Mia! Here I go again, how can I resist you!" She sang pointing at Jake who almost spit his drink out, sighing as he realised it was just a part of her 'routine'.
"I've been angry and sad about things that you do, I can't count all the times that I've told you we're through" she danced around. Everyone was positively having a lot of fun, the energy infectious. Soon enough Chaewon and Yunjin joined her then some others. When the crowd grew, Jay stood up and softly pulled her out of it, sitting her down before shaking his head with a chuckle as he walked away.
Y/n was having a brilliant day. (She was crashing the fuck out)
First she was late to class (guess why).
Then she almost dropped an entire cup of iced coffee on her assignment sheets.
Then she almost got hit by a car while trying to rush back to the company (where she was late as well).
Then the elevator in the main building decided to give up on her and stopped working so she had to sprint accross the large reception area and employee sitting area to reach the elevator of the other building.
"Move. Move." She mumbled, balancing a cup of coffee in her hand along with her company tablet, schedule papers and bag of belongings.
And if all that wasn't bad enough, the moment the elevator doors opened she rushed out and immediately tripped over her own foot.
"Shit-"
Y/n stumbled forward, coffee sloshing dangerously out of the cup. Her foot landed squarely on someone's shoe and just before she could completely lose her balance, a hand caught her by the arm, pulling her up.
For a second she found herself staring at a black hoodie.
Then a jaw.
Then a very familiar face.
Of course.
Park Jongseong.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry." She immediately stepped back, bowing.
Jay glanced down at his shoe before looking at her.
"You should probably watch where you're going." He said, tilting his head, eyes filled with scrutiny.
Y/n's mouth fell open slightly at the audacity.
"I wasn't exactly planning on falling." She said matter of factly.
"Could've fooled me." Jay shrugged, glancing behind her to watch the elevator leave, not moving to stop it either.
"Well, if someone wasn't standing right in front of the elevator-" Y/n started, tone turning irritated at the sheer lack of empathy and absurdness of his random arguments.
"The elevator door?"
"Yes."
"The place people generally stand when waiting for elevators?" He asked in amusement.
"You were literally blocking the entire exit." She huffed, having this sudden urge to throw the cup of coffee in her hand at the man's face.
Jay raised an eyebrow.
"And you still managed to find enough space to assault my foot."
Y/n stared at him in disbelief. "A-asault?"
"You know what? F—"
Before Y/n could decide to finish the series words that would've left her mouth, another voice interrupted.
"Y/n, you're a little late."
She found Gihun, Enhypen's senior manager standing behind Jay.
"Uh, yeah. The elevators in the main building weren't working."
Gihun sighed. "Some multi-million dollar company this is..."
"Hello Manager-nim." Jungwon smiled. "It's nice to finally meet you. Though unfortunately we're in a rush, I'll see you later."
"Nice to meet you too."
Jungwon's eyes flickered between her and Jay.
Then he grinned.
Y/n immediately didn't like that.
"Come on, hyung."
Jay stepped into the elevator.
Just before the doors closed he looked at her and said, "Try not to injure anyone else."
Y/n scoffed.
"Try not to become a traffic obstruction."
The elevator doors closed.
She could hear Jungwon laughing from inside.
-------------------------------------------------
Y/n spotted the rest of the members sitting around the large dressing room of the costume design department. Entering the room, she put down her things and started noting down new pointers on her iPad.
Pros of working in this company, I guess.
"Y/N!" Sunoo waved enthusiastically.
"You recognised me?" Y/n laughed.
"Of course. You have a pretty recognisable face. God, you're so pretty in real life."
For reference: how her parents got divorced after thirty years of marriage, how her entire high school friend group abandoned her, how she received a scholarship from a college she never applied to, and how she landed an internship in an industry she had much to criticize about—the idol industry.
But the biggest plot twist came on a random Thursday when she found herself added to a group chat full of idols from the very company she was interning at and then... becoming their temporary manager.
And the last thing she wanted to do was fall in love.
Alas, she has record of nothing going the way she expects.
(manager!reader x Idol!Jay; crack (mostly), slightly suggestive (sometimes), My sense of humor sucks but I'll do my best; fluff; slow-burn; reader is only half korean; slight age gap? (3 years) Reader is close to Jungwon's age though. Ot7 but Heeseung is solo :( sorry. )
(A/N: Hie, this is my first time. Please don't judge😔 also can someone tell me how to make fake tweet smau stuff? Thanks hihi)
