I love this as like the "solution" to not be gay while kissing the homies. when i was like 6 my grandparents got me an awesome dollhouse (playmobil haus 5301 if anyone needs to know). for some reason, i had in my head that one day, god would shrink a bunch of people until they were the size of polly pockets and the world would be so cruel and scary for them. so every night i would pray to god that if he did that, that he would please put the tiny people in my dollhouse so i could provide for them. and every night, in case it happened, i would put water in a little cup for them and make their little beds so theyâd have somewhere warm to rest after finding out they would be tiny forever. i told my friend in school about this and he said âoh my dadâs a wizard dont worry he can make them grow againâ and then i felt at ease and never worried about it again.

Nietzsche was right about a lot of things, but unfortunately at some point he took a very wrong turn. We are a child species growing up, transitioning from a world where a cosmic Santa Claus keeps track of who's been naughty or nice to one where there is no inherent truths, that much is true. Unfortunately, Nietzsche got stuck in humanity's adolescence with the whole Ubermensch thing.
Because the Ubermensch (Great Man) is just a secular god. The Great Man, made of sterner stuff and here to figure it all out for us. Not a perfect, endlessly benevolent sky father, but a capricious human, suffering from human vices but still greater than us, who has the right to punish us and decide for us. It's the invention of an adolescent mind who has just learned about the evils of the world. They are now too jaded to believe in an endlessly good god, but are still desperately longing for a parental figure. Even an imperfect one.
The truth is, there are no Great Men coming to guide us. That's just another sacred game we have invented to stay children a little longer. There is only us: All of humanity. And it's going to take us all to go into the future. All of us must grow up together.

The dark forest theory is so unnecessarily gloomy. If I was lost in a dark forest with a gun, and I met another person, also with a gun, my first instinct wouldn't be to shoot just in case they shot first, it'd be to ask "Hey, do you know how to get out of this dark forest, and if not, do you want to team up to find the way?"
We developed intelligence to better cooperate and teach each other, that's why humans rule the world and not the lizards. And you don't get as far as we've come by spending all your energy on hate and paranoia. Yes, we have hate and paranoia in our world, but scientific advancement always slows to a halt when it takes over. Because bigotry and science are fundamentally incompatible.
No civilization that truly values science and learning can keep bigotry alive, and no civilization that doesn't truly value science and learning will ever make it to the stars. The aggressive aliens aren't exterminating lesser species before they even make it to the stars out of paranoia, they are busy playing king of the hill on their own planet.
