when you download a pdf and it's called like 1328723486basdf12.pdf but then you gently rename it to what it's supposed to be. that's forming a bond with a hurt and wild mythological creature and reminding it who it is.
The thing that always gets under my skin is that everytime I see people share Sylvia Plath's quotes or recommend her book, The Bell Jar, no one ever ever mentions that in-between these beautifully cathartic moments that push you face first into the reality of the depths of depression, there's just suddenly blatant racism out of nowhere from her self-insert character... and it's glossed over in the book like it's not bad or a big deal at all... and it sucks because there were moments in that book I connected with so deeply... but the racism was so unapologetic and disgusting that for me, it ruined anything good I wanted to take from it.
I've seen people recommend the book countless times, and never with a "Hey, parts of the book are really touching, but just so you know there's some pretty fucking racist stuff in there."
