She shifted her weight, stepping a little closer anyway, curiosity clearly winning over. A smirk tugged at her lips.“…But alright,” Valeria added, voice dropping just a touch, a little sharper now. “I’ll play. Valeria let out a soft unimpressed hum, watching him, slowly, the corner of her mouth twitched upward.

“That’s cute.” she said, folding her arms as she looked him over. “You always this mysterious? Or are you feeling adventurous tonight.”She tilted her head slightly, eyes sharp but amused. Still, she didn’t move away from the table.

“Blackjack, huh?” she added after a moment of studying him. “I don’t bluff well and I’m a sore loser, so we may be at this table all night if we get into this. You may be very good at winning against others, but you’ve never played with me before. Fair warning.”

At his comment, she huffed a soft laugh, rolling her eyes just slightly. “Oh relax. I don’t actually want you to be bad at it. I just like keeping your ego in check.” She smirked. “Someone has to.”She leaned in just enough to close the space. “Oh yeah… I stay in charge in this…” she murmured, gaze locked on his. “That’s not up for debate.”She looked at him, her lips curved again.“…But don’t get it twisted. Jeremiah replied to the woman as he looked at her and examined her favorably. "Oh do I? I feel like I don't normally do that but something tells me that you like the way I look when I walk into it." He teased her as he shimmied his hips a bit.

"Don't keep my ego in check. That's boring as hell." He said to her as he looked at her and shook his head slowly. "I like when you need to reign me in and bring me back to reality." Jeremiah said honestly to him. "Oh you let yourself fall for me?" He asked as he looked at her and then he looked her in the eyes. "I know you're in charge of this and that's what makes me love it even more. You tell me what you want." He shot a playful wink over to Val.

Valeria let out an amused breath at the little hip shimmy, immediately rolling her eyes like she hated that it worked on her even a little, but she didn’t. She loved it. It drove her wild.“God, you’re obnoxious.” she muttered, but the smirk pulling at her mouth said otherwise as she moved closer clearly intoxicated by the meat presence of Jeremiah. “And don’t flatter yourself too much.” Val added, fingers looping into the front of his shirt. “I like watching you walk into trouble because it’s entertaining. There’s a difference.”

Her gaze flicked over his face for a second before settling back on his eyes, sharper now, more honest than she usually liked being. “And that I fear” she said quietly, “is exactly the problem… I’m falling for you…”Before he could push further, she leaned in just enough to kiss him in a slow deliberate way, then she pulled back like she was putting distance between herself and the moment on purpose before it got too real.

“You loving that I’m in charge is probably the only reason this works, if I’m honest.” she murmured, thumb brushing once against his jaw before dropping her hand again. “Because the second you start thinking you’ve got me figured out, you’ll be sick to death of me.”

Sitting back in her chair as she looked at her twin, really looked at her. "What's wrong with him." She knew it had to be something wrong, and that worried her a lot more than she realized.

She flagged the bartender down with two fingers, not even looking at Marlee as she ordered. “Two of whatever’s strongest.”Then she leaned back slightly, glancing over at her with a side-eye that softened just a fraction.“…But if I do accidentally enjoy myself and we end up singing karaoke.” Val added, grabbing the drink when it arrived and taking a small sip, “We’re not talking about it tomorrow. Some how we are managing to work together." Her tone gentled. "I enjoy working with you too, Val." No teasing there just steady honesty. At the mention of food, her grin returned, lighter now. "Ah. Yes, the food part because that is the most important." She tapped her pen thoughtfully against the table. “I was thinking we could go to the Waterfront or we could go to your parent's restaurant.”

I don’t make the rules.” Her eyes flicked toward Wren, amused. “Waterfront’s tempting. But my parents’ place means better food and I get to boss people around in my natural habitat. So maybe we go there?”

She stood and gathered herself. “Now, before we go pretend to be functional adults in public… tell me something not work-related. I feel like I only know your ‘strategic mastermind’ side.” She tilted her head. “What do you actually like doing when you’re not saving projects and tolerating me? That’s what friends to right? Talk about non work topics? Sorry, I’m not very good at making friends. New Year’s resolution, get better at small talk.”

"Oh trust me, you definitely didn't do any of that for nothing. It was all noticed and absolutely appreciated." Jeremiah mentioned to Valeria as he looked at her and shot a wink at her. He loved the energy that was flowing between the two of them. "This is also true but you control me professionally so why can't I control things in the bedroom?" He asked as he then stopped for a moment and then began to speak again. "Actually, you know what? It's a huge turn on so don't stop. I absolutely love it honestly." He explained to her.

"I doubt it would turn into a regular thing. I figured you could use some breakfast after we burned all of those calories last night that you could use some food before we get back down to business." Jeremiah suggested while looking at the woman and then smiled wide. "I certainly hope that it is going to earn me a nice thank you because that sounds amazing actually." As he set down the food in front of Valeria, Jeremiah was hoping that she would enjoy it so that he would be able to get that thank you gift from Valeria.

Lorenzo grinned, shaking his head like he couldn’t quite believe her confidence. "Tragedy?" he said, his tone teasing, leaning just slightly toward her as he caught up. "Ah… only you could turn a drink into a matter of life and death." He took a slow sip from his glass, pretending to contemplate the horror she accused him of, then shrugged with mock solemnity. "But… for you, I’ll risk it. Lead the way, comandante. I’ll follow—even if it means facing your impeccable taste."

He fell into step beside her, his shoulder brushing hers briefly, matching her playful pace, eyes glinting with amusement. "Though… I’m warning you," he added with a sly tilt of his head, "if your superior judgment gets us lost, I’m holding you personally responsible. I'm Lorenzo Esposito, by the way."

"No idea, I wish that Sofia would just get him to sign off his rights and move on with her life." But her daughter was just as stubborn as what Gabriella was so she knew that wasn't going to happen. "I know you aren't but I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate that. Every time." She felt like she was going to fall apart but she couldn't. Not yet. Not in front of everyone. "Yeah, we do. Just like I'll always be here for you. I love you too.."

Returning the hug, it felt like she could just break but she didn't. "I don't think I can. Same with food, I want to make sure she is okay. I'll probably have an appetite later on but right now. Not so much." Some water would be fine though at least so she thought right now. "Some water would be nice. Worried and scared like the rest of us."

When she came back, she pressed one gently into Gabriella’s hand. “We’re all scared.” she admitted quietly. “But she’s strong. Stubborn, like the rest of us. And we don’t break in this family.”Her voice lowered, softer now. “I love you. Drink the water.”

Valeria told her like she was the big sister. “You don’t get to fall apart yet. Not while she’s in there. Not until Lilliana comes out and says she made it… which she will.” It wasn’t a question, Valeria refused to accept any other solution than her niece coming out of surgery in one piece.. “Did they tell you what exactly happened? How did she end up in there?”

"Yeah, so Sofia will be here once jackass gets his shit together. She would have already been here if it wasn't for him." Gabriella gave a small, grateful smile at Valeria’s words, her hand covering the squeeze on her arm and holding it gently. "Thank you," she said, her voice soft but firm, letting her relief slip through just a little. "It helps… hearing that. I needed to hear that we’re in this together."

She leaned a fraction closer, lowering her voice to a whisper almost meant just for Valeria. "I’ve had a little, but… I think I need more. Maybe some food too, if you can manage it. We need to keep ourselves steady so we can be steady for her." Her eyes softened, tracking Valeria’s as she added, "I don’t know what I’d do without you right now." There was a pause as she took a careful breath, grounding herself in the moment, then she managed a tiny, teasing smirk despite the tension. "No, I haven't had any water actually."

Valeria arched a brow over the rim of the coffee cup, lips curling into a slow, knowing smile. “Oh, so you did like that thing I did last night.” she teased, voice low and amused as she leaned against the counter. “Good. I’d hate to think I was putting in all that effort for nothing.”She took a slow sip, eyes flicking over the tray, then back to him. “And make me earn it?” she scoffed lightly, stepping closer. “Careful, Jeremiah. I’m technically the one in charge of your schedule, your listings… your professional well-being. I should be the one making you earn things.”

Her expression softened just a fraction when she glanced at the food, clearly touched despite herself. “You cooking though… that’s dangerous. Sets a very unrealistic standard for a casual thing. I might make you turn it into a regular thing.” She nudged the plate with a fingertip, inspecting it like a critic. “This better be good. If you burned my eggs after all that confidence, I’m going to be personally offended.” Then her gaze lifted back to his, warm but still teasing. “And if it is good…” she added, stepping into his space just enough to brush her hand lightly along his arm, “maybe I’ll decide you’ve earned a thank-you. Jeremiah had spent the night with Val and he held her close as they slept. But when the light began to hit his face, he could feel himself groaning as he stretched a bit. As his eyes fluttered open, he looked qround and Val was still asleep. She was supposed to be just a hookup but she ended up spending the night and he wasn't super upset about it.
