This seems to be the last time I can participate in something like this, because this is the last part of everything I ever come up out of boredom a few months ago, and I no longer have any ideas about what comes next. Thank you to everyone who tagged my blog, you are the best ❤️❤️
P.S. sorry for the long absence, Tumblr app wasn't working for me for unknown reasons 😞
«theo and tracy (letters from the past) teenager friends to lovers»
For the entire time of their friendship — which, by the way, had been more than five years — Theo very rarely thought of Tracy as his girlfriend.
Yes, she was attractive, he never denied that. But it was something like an objective fact that did not concern him personally. He used to think of her as a younger sister, with whom he always had similar problems.
They'd been through so much shit together that the thought of any other type of feeling just hadn't crossed his mind. He protected her the way older brothers do.
But now, looking at her sitting at the bar, leaning on her elbow, and smiling sweetly at the bartender, Theo suddenly feels anger boiling inside him.
He wants to break the fucking guy's wrist for leaning so close to Tracy's neck; wants to turn her around, remind her why they're here, but more than anything... more than anything, he wants to pin her against the wall and prove — to her, to himself, to this bartender and the rest of the damn club — that she belongs only to him.
He doesn't recognize her. No, he knows that she's just playing her part, that it's part of their plan, but still something inside him protests, as if he's suddenly trapped by his own emotions.
But damn it, if this bartender gets even a few more centimeters closer, Theo will really forget about their whole operation and just crack his skull.
It's stupid, but he wants to go up to this guy and smash his smug face on the counter. Or at least get Tracy out of this ridiculous scene.
He swallowed, feeling irritation spread through his body, and took a long sip of the cocktail, which immediately burned his throat.
But he holds back. After all, it's all for their case. Scouting, surveillance, searching for clues — they're not here to make him jealous, damn it.
And yet, when Tracy finally pays attention to him, his muscles are still tense. She catches his eye, holds her breath for a second, then suddenly, as if nothing had happened, comes closer and takes his hand.
— It's easier to watch the crowd this way, — she explained, putting her hands on his shoulders.
Theo barely restrained the impulse. What the hell is wrong with him? Why did her every touch feel electrifying? Why did he want to forget about everything and just kiss her right there in the middle of all this chaos? So that everyone knows that this girl is busy.
She catches his eye, holds her breath for a second, then suddenly, as if nothing had happened, comes closer and takes his hand.
— Hey, is everything okay? — her voice is soft, but there is a slight worry in her eyes.
— Yes, — he said with a nod, but doesn't take his hand away from her wrist.
Tracy smiles, standing slightly on tiptoe to whisper in his ear.
— Relax. Everything is going according to plan.
Theo just chuckles in response, because, to be honest, his plan right now is completely different — to take her by the waist, hold her close and make her forget about all these idiotic glances that the guys around her throw at her.
But of course he doesn't do that.
Although her hand grips him a little tighter, she leans closer to him, and he feels her breath on his skin. There's a faint trace of lip gloss on his cheek, but he doesn't even notice it right away because that's not what his mind is on right now.
He forced himself to take control of his feelings. They're just best friends. And his stupid attraction was just the result of her standing too close, so beautiful in the soft lamplight.
Tracy smiled, her hazel eyes sparkling, and Theo almost missed the moment when, in the distance, against the far wall, his gaze caught on a guy. He was looking at them too closely. Too intently.
Without thinking, Theo took off his jacket and draped it over Tracy's shoulders, covering her bare back. There was no need for that idiot to stare at her with such admiration. He leaned closer to Tracy, almost touching her ear.
— We're being watched, — he whispered.
Tracy froze slightly, but her hands remained on his shoulders. She didn't look back, just shifted slightly so that Theo had a better view.
— The far wall, to the left of the bar. The guy in the black shirt. He doesn't look away.
Tracy pretended to adjust her jacket over her shoulders, while at the same time taking a quick glance in the indicated direction.
— Got it. And what are we going to do?
— Nothing yet, — Theo replied, — Let's see if he follows us.
They continued to dance, although now their movements were a little less relaxed. Theo could feel Tracy tense up, but she held on, pretending that everything was fine. At that moment, the man against the wall moved. He headed towards the exit.
— He's leaving, — Theo said.
— Are we following him? — Tracy asked.
Theo nodded. They stopped dancing smoothly, moving as if they were just walking to the bar, and then stealthily moved to the exit.
The guy didn't look back, but his movements betrayed tension, as if he knew he was being watched.
As soon as he stepped outside, Tracy quickened her pace, reaching the door first. Theo was walking a little behind her, giving her cover. They stepped out into the cool night air, and Theo immediately noticed a man looking around as if trying to make sure no one was following him.
The guy turned the corner, and they quickened their pace, moving after him. It was dark in the alley, but Theo managed to notice how the man stopped and quickly typed something on his phone.
— He's writing something.. Maybe his partner? — Tracy suggested.
Theo took out his phone and activated the camera, taking a few pictures. They couldn't be considered perfect, but it might be possible to pull out an image of a face or phone number later.
The guy suddenly looked back, and Theo barely managed to pull Tracy back into the shadows.
— He's seen us, — she whispered.
— We need to move. If he tries to leave, don't let him escape.
But the guy, instead of running away, slowly turned in their direction. He obviously knew they were here.
— We should talk, — he said suddenly.
They exchanged glances. It was unexpected. Theo asked, stepping out of the shadows.
— About why you're here and who you're looking for, — the stranger replied, crossing his arms over his chest.
Tracy came closer, still holding his wrist.
— Why don't you introduce yourself first?
— Call me Josh. I work for people who don't like being watched.
Theo tensed up. Well, it seems they've found someone who can help them to find necessary answers.
