i missed non-binary people’s day but here’s one of my favorite headcanons for botw link
Before I know it, something in my heart begins to change I wish I had somebody else to share my everyday My body feels so numb as I succumb to prickling pain I realize now that solitude is not a strength

This just might be my favorite Hyrule Castle theme yet
Offline.
My past caught up to me and I’m ready to cry. May even delete/leave this blog. Apologies.
Link is very hard on himself, how can he not be? He left Hyrule alone for a hundred years or more and it suffered greatly. After his travels to Lanaryu and Zora’s Domain especially he has grown to hate himself and who he was. What kind of HERO or CHAMPION would allow such S U F F E R I N G to happy to innocent people. He knows he is to blame, he who wields the sword that seals darkness.... For it is on his shoulders alone that darkness took over Hyrule.

SEVERAL HOURS HAD BEEN SPENT WANDERING THIS OLD DIRT ROAD, and there was still no sign of civilization. Now it was getting close to night fall, and while Kubo didn’t complain out loud about it, his feet were sore and he was growing hungry. He hadn’t really thought ahead and considered getting food to save for later… A whistle draws the boy’s attention. In the growing darkness, there is the warm glow of a bonfire, and a figure sitting next to it. The wave of the hand might have made Kubo wonder if this fellow knew him ( Impossible, unless the traveler had stopped by his village! ) but, eager to rest his feet, he quietly accepts.
“ … HELLO? ”He greets tentatively, while clutching the strap of his shamisen. “ Good evening … ”
He couldn’t fathom being alone at night the way the other was. Without shelter or a bonfire, without anybody to spend time with (or maybe he was simply lonely) but Link inclined his head in a silent greeting, a small smile curving his lips upwards as not only did he share his fire and it’s warmth with the traveler, but the stew he’d been cooking was scooped into a bowl and offered to the stranger. “Hyrule... is dangerous to travel alone at night.” his words were quiet but there as he smiled gently at the other, he didn’t have much to offer another traveler aside from the stew and the warmth of a fire (he was fairly sure he wasn’t even good company as he didn’t like talking) but he’d offer it all the same.
ndeavor:
“…!” Oh no how much has he said exactly for Link to come to that conclusion? “N-No not my princess,” though he’d argue that she could be one..a rather powerful one. “She’s just a very good friend to me.” Crossing his arms he looks towards the unfolding match and away from Link in hopes to save some face. “..I just miss my friends.” Though true and regardless of his own wants Tifa deserves better than someone like him.
He could understand that, missing people. Link knew what that was like. His mind turned to Sidon, to Teba, to Riju and even to Yunobo and his heart sank. Yes, Zelda was here... But was Kass currently singing over a Hyrule that had become even more ruined with it’s princess and last living champion gone? Guilt wrestled in his heart as he tried to gather words once more. “I’m sorry for... assuming. I hope we can all go home soon...”

@valoroushylian - !!!
Everyone knew of the legend of The Hero. The fabled warrior that had stood at the Princess’ side during the final hours before Ganon’s power had locked her away inside of the castle.
He was just a legend, though. At least that was what Honda had come to firmly believe. A legend that had never existed that people spoke about because they needed hope. They needed something other than the ever and omnipresent fear that was creeping over the land from Ganon’s influence.
There seemed to be a change creeping over the land. Maybe the tide was actually turning. Maybe things were getting better!
… and maybe there was a strange blond kid stalking through the pasture land that the goats were supposed to be feeding in.
“Hey!”
Everybody knew of him... Which meant that everybody knew how he failed, how everything that was wrong with Hyrule was his fault... and his alone. How he had chosen to protect Zelda over protecting Hyrule... How he hadn’t been strong enough to do his duty. But hearing somebody call out to him the blue clad knight turned, his ears flicking some as he tilted his head in a questioning, curious manner. Who was this stranger? Link had never spotted him before in this little town, then too.. Link didn’t pay too much attention (not after the fiasco that had been Zora’s domain especially). But his hand raised and waved in a ever silent greeting. He wasn’t one to be rude after all.
