I don't see enough people mourning over the slow death of physical media. And I don't just mean TV shows, video games, or movies--which don't even get me started about how we don't really 'own' anything anymore. It includes notes, journals, and letters to one another...so much of our history is lost when we lose a password, a website goes down, a file/hardware is corrupted, or a platform disappears. History that doesn't seem important until you no longer have access to it. Physical media does a lot for memory recall. How many memories will we lose because we don't have something tangible to tie it back to? Something to hold in our hands and stir up those memories we thought were once lost? Sometimes I wonder what the difference between burning a book and losing access to physical media is when someone can pull the plug and remove your access so easily.
Dude it’s really starting to piss me off-
Like so many so many fandoms I’m in have started off with the “WE HATE AI” or “DOWN WITH AI” mindset because the fandom at this point is only kept alive by the artists and authors creating their vision and sharing it with us. Now though, I see people in communities saying they want to use AI ACKNOWLEDGING HOW BAD IT IS FOR THE ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT to make things as stupid as movies with their favorite fancast actors or songs for characters. Even worse more and more people are supporting it??? Back the fuck off. You really think your AI generated movie is more important than the ecosystem and actors lives, because if you can just generate their likeness through technology then what the fuck are they needed for?
Anyhow yeah
unfollow me if you support AI in any capacity - for medical procedures of further research (it’s been proven to be racist and sexist), for art (you are taking away the livlihood of real artists, authors, and musicians), or for education (it has literally been proven that it’s making society more stupid)
Reminder this shit is not okay
Saying brutally murdering people just bc they enjoy a fandom and THEIR LOOKS is JUSTICE is so fucked up
thought it blocked them when i reported them
BLOCK AND REPORT THEM THIS IS SO FUCKED
James: You kissed Moony?!
Sirius: It was a distraction!
James: FROM WHAT?!
Sirius: My feelings!
“I am lonely, sometimes, but I dare say it's good for me.”
-Little Women(Louisa May Alcott)
Loneliness sucks! It is depressing and heart wrenching. It can feel never ending. But, when we are alone, we learn the most about ourselves and learn to truly love every unique part that is us. And, hopefully, when you’ve learned all you can, others will follow and love you too.
In keeping with the theme of loneliness, I started this blog based on the idea in John Green’s book Turtle’s all the Way Down at a time when I feel pretty lonely. If any others share my love of books and positivity are also lonely would like to be a little less lonely, Follow me and maybe we can make new friends together.
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“—so long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
-Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll)
The future holds many paths and adventures, yet so much time is spent worrying about where we will end up. As long as we are moving forward, we can end up on many paths rather than just one.
“You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.”
Looking for Alaska(John Green)
When the present is too boring we look to the future. When the future is too scary and uncertain we look to the past. But often we are too trapped in these dreamy or nightmarish times that we ignore the rest of the world living in the present.
“We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.”
Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix(J. K. Rowling)
One of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite characters. While I don’t agree with her current views, I will forever be grateful for J. K. Rowling’s words that have helped me love and accept every part of myself as well as taught me to love and accept others over the years.
“I don’t know how to be anyone but who I am. This is how I’ve always been. It’s not much, but I do the best I can with what I have.”
-The House in the Cerulean Sea(Tj Klune)
If we can’t love and accept ourselves for every amazingly weird or unique part how can we ever find someone else who can or find true happiness by ourselves.
“I must have shut grief out. Found it in books. Cried over fiction instead of the truth. The truth was unconfined, unadorned.”
-We Are Okay (Nina LaCour)
