a similar experience to this was a friend recalling how the anime ascendance of a bookworm season 4 intro utilized ai backgrounds and how she didn't see it as a big deal for labor reasons. and i was basically like "well (a) the exacerbated environmental concerns that come with AI usage (b) should those animators remain employed, employers will just see this as an excuse for Higher expectations on output because they have "tools" to expedite the process and (c) if this becomes the norm where we just utilize AI animation, why have animators at all? it saves them from being overworked, doesn't it, isn't that good in the long run" and fully they responded with "i just think these animators should see their families :/" WHERE DID I SAY THEY SHOULDNT SEE THEIR FAMILIES. His memoir — a series of essays and vignettes that starts out fairly experimental, at first reflecting on his life as a homeless teenage prostitute at truck stops and in Times Square, then progressively becoming more lucid and political as his partner dies from AIDS — is one of the best, most underrated American memoirs. It’s called Close to the Knives, one of my absolute favorite books of all time.
His longest, most serious partner was the artist Peter Hujar who helped him quit heroin and mentored him as an artist. The AIDS focused chapters are mainly centered around his rage and grief watching Peter and other friends die.
Wojnarowicz is also one of the artists featured in Olivia Laing’s excellent book The Lonely City. There’s also a documentary about him on Youtube. I really recommend looking into learning about him and his art, it’s very interesting and he was incredibly talented

IMO, blurring the lines between “I’m defending them because they’re right” and “I’m defending them because you’re taking this too far” is step numero uno to cutting down the very existence of fair trial and democracy–even in places where saying that might seem a little dramatic.
Mob mentality is extremely strong in humans and it’s also extremely dangerous. Mobs don’t think things through. Mobs kill and they destroy and they can’t be reasoned with. Someone trying to calm a mob down isn’t someone defending the ~problematic party~ It’s time we re-learn that.

not to keep dragging this post but I think this is because so many of you have a problem recognizing stuff that you see as "normal everyday things" as privileges. stuff like having bananas and other fruits that are not grown in the US all year round for a fifth of the price in the country they're harvested on. having access to more job opportunities just by living in the US. not having to learn other languages.
in your minds these are all the norm, just the way things are, so how could they possibly be a privilege? you don't see how your norm was built on the backs of others
Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

Two things back that up:
There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.
