Original under the cut
the camarilla should be bad guys. this isn't an original take, but it's one i hold pretty strongly, and it's a pretty core design ethos of the game i gm.
as presented, the camarilla is a beautiful elite. it's run by ventrue for the most part, who, while rich, privileged and callous, are often shown to be true believers in the sect. the camarilla is the last tide of defense against violent, depraved extremists like the sabbat, and while some anarchs might hold moral superiority, come on, do they really have a chance? the camarilla might not be the best, as presented, but it's the best we've got, so it's worth it, at least for the moment. right? i took a little bit of an issue with this. i've always thought vtm, for a game that purports to be punk, is a pretty status-quo-ey kind of game and setting, where the entrenched, openly exploitative establishment is shown to be the best chance against scary hordes (among other issues i have with it). so i decided to spin things a little.
in the game i run, the camarilla is nasty. not merely "bad because they're vampires," but nasty. in the city i run my game in, the camarilla is dreary, sterile, trashy, faceless, broken by design, run by and riddled with the absolute worst sorts of people, not merely repulsive morally but thoroughly tasteless, actually miserable to be around. the elite of the city are hideous, tacky, BMW-driving yuppie trash, the kind of people who hold immeasurable power but lock their doors when minorities walk by their car. they've got the delicate touch of a jackhammer; they swallow neighborhoods overnight and sic hit squads on the "squatters", seize their assets and rush clumsy through the liquidation so they can set up overpriced low-tier feeding grounds as quickly as they can, all while they lock down on feeding outside said grounds "for the safety of the masquerade". speaking of masquerade, they enforce that with their overbloated force of violent yes-men, who are set loose on undesirables and out-of-favor sect members, disappearing people and ripping out memories left and right - they're not efficient, or even effective, but they're not supposed to be; their only real job is to intimidate and browbeat the city. the sabbat is used like a tool; desperate sorts eking a living, selling out false-flagging and goon-squadding for the enemy just to get by - that is, when they're not the sickos, perverts and serial killers given the pass because they make a great excuse to scare the populace and justify further bloat of the camarilla's law enforcement.
the camarilla is exactly as i imagine it'd be, exactly the sort of system put in place by the sort of people who'd get embraced in the upper class of vampire society. it's the same sort of broken-by-design system that exists in the real world, in countless places across the globe. on the nose? yeah, sure. hell, i lean into it. there's a sick sort of undercurrent to see that undead society is broken just as bad as ours - even in death, you don't get to escape the bullshit. lord knows what i'd be doing if i was running wraith.
the camarilla are not the main villains of my campaign. it's hard to say there even is one singular villain, due to the setting-first way i design the campaign. but the camarilla is at the heart of vampire; it's the most important faction of the game, and all the other factions are informed by their opposition to it. so i had to go big and nasty with it, yeah? the tower's shadow looms hard. the anxiety it inflicts on my players is palpable at times, the we're-so-fucked stress that bubbles up whenever it comes up in conversation. it's a sleeping dragon that the players keep poking, and everyone - including me - is dreading the night when it actually gets up.
it's a nice change of pace from what the books put forth. try it sometime
And that's my piece for the art trade with @scribesofcalamity. Of their VtM characters. I love drawing hot vampires and oh boy is it hot in here.
Its both a last drawing of 2024 and first one of 2025! What a way to start the year!
I won an art giveaway on bluesky from @mformultiverse and I am smitten with this piece!✨🦇🖤
Bats and Poppy are my new vampire obsession atm… my tremere former Sabbat almost had a relapse and diablerized the cute malkavian Poppy. Now of course it was love at first sight!
“I wonder if you bleed in pink too, cupcake.” - Bats.
Art trade with @casuallycryptidcider of their lovely Nosferatu Lattie ❤️

A Diablerist’s Guide to Vitae
So, in all my years of unlife, I have decided to share my personal opinions of the vitae of each clan. Yes, there will always be some variation among individuals, but the base flavor remains the same regardless of the different members of each clan.
Banu Haqim: Unique in that they have three flavors among their castes. However, all have a particularly bitter taste, with their Viziers being the most appetizing among them with a flavor that reminds me of the spices I tasted when I still drew breath. Warriors are the least preferred, being pungent and raw, like blood left in the sun. Sorcerers have a certain appeal, but their vitae is maddening in ways difficult to describe
Brujah: Hot and hard to swallow, like their personalities. It serves well should one travel in a colder region, but without it I would rather choose something else. Their more educated elders are passable however, and I savor the knowledge that comes with feeding on one of the learned
Cappadocian: One might expect the clan most touched by death would lack the flavor and sustenance of the other clans. That person would be wrong, for each is a scholar in their own right, and the knowledge mixed with the scant tastes of something other than the kindred leaves me breathless at times. Pity the Giovanni had to be born
Gangrel: Surprisingly passable. The untamed nomads are rich in flavor, comparable to the choicest cuts of meat one could taste. Their widespread bloodlines add even more touches to an already expansive palate. I wish I could taste an Ahrimane again, that first one was enchanting… who was she?
Giovanni: The best way to describe these putrescent wastes is vile. Imagine stagnant water, except several times worse
Lasombra: The shadows have a nice quality to their vitae, a cold, refreshing sting that leaves one feeling revitalized. Perhaps it is their darkness breathing new life in this dead shell of mine
Malkavian: Sharp, and indescribable. It’s quite addicting, but the voices I’ve heard in my mind’s eye are enough to cause me to turn down further opportunities
Nosferatu: Like overcooked meat, passable but not particularly satisfying. Still, the variations among their kind can be flavorful in their own way. One in particular was quite filling, but it was as if being referred to as Nosferatu angered them. Strange…
Ravnos: I do not feed on another of my own
Salubri: Their vitae is like iron, sharp and coppery. Perhaps it is due to their nature of being the “purest” of our kind, but those who feed on the Unicorns should best take a sip and no more. They have a tendency to fight back even years after the amaranth
Toreador: Sweet and flavorful, like flowers and fruits mixed into one’s drink. I cannot complain should I come across a rose, for they are always just as sweet
Tremere: Strangely, it can best be described as being as if I decided to eat the soil beneath my feet. There is a harsh, metallic flavor to it, and while there are hints of the sorcerers magics, it’s little more than a faint aftertaste
Tzimisce: Interesting, rich and earthy in flavor. Still, I would not risk a further attempt unless I’ve staked one, lest I lose access to another limb for several months
Ventrue: The so-called lords of our kind have only two redeeming factors. Their ability to act as a puppet ruler, and the high quality of their vitae. It is like drinking the richest wines in the land, pity their skin is tough to bite through
Followers of Set: To describe the serpents is to try and describe the flavor of poisoned honey. Sweet, but acrid. I will say no more on the subject
Now he has standards. Will not touch his bloodline. Interesting.
Tumblr of Darkness Fashion Week 2025
Have a toreador that loves to play dress up with their ghouls? A hunter who likes to look good while hunting? Or a garou who embraces their natural beauty? This event might be for you!
Tumblr of Darkness Fashion Week is a giant art trade for the community to put fashion forward. You could draw a character on the runway, on a magazine, doing their own makeup, or anything else! Artists of all levels are welcomed!
How to Participate:
Has your vampire diabled? How many times? Who? Why?
fishmalk in her natural habitat
Your Toreador Elder would NOT be that conventionally attractive
avery - malkavian [oc]
Stop giving Malkavians multiple personalities its so tired and overdone
Give OTHER clans multiple personality disorders!!! Malkavians may cursed with insanity but hey you dont need a curse to have DID! And dont give me the "only Malkavians would embrace someone with multiple personalties" because 1. Plenty of people with DID can be impressive in all the traits other clans look for, 2. Plenty keep it a secret as its looked down upon, and 3. DID can manifest as a result of trauma in some cases and guess whats traumatic! The embrace!
Give me a Toreador who has one personaltiy who is a painter and the other is an art critiquer and the painter keeps getting frustrated they cant measure up to the critiquer's standards
Give me a Brujah or Gangrel who had DID before being embraced and when they were embraced, their curse manifested into a new personality so theyre basically the hulk
Give me a Tzimisce who straight up gives each personality their own body and fleshcrafts themselves each time they switch
We where talking about how its more interesting if the embrace in vtm changes your relationship to intimacy and sex on this post so I had to make this real fast
I will fill this out soonish with one of my characters
