(preseries) Rimmer, sick and tired of Lister mourning his recent break-up with one Kristine Kochanski, inadvertently agrees to go out for drinks with the man. What should have been an entirely platonic outing between friends—of a sort—changes entirely when a little too much lager makes Rimmer confess the truth about why he never really liked Kochanski anyway. Lister’s reaction isn’t what either of them expected.
Lager Solves Everything (Christmas Edition)
Lister and Rimmer get drunk on Christmas Eve and… well, you can guess.
Lister and Rimmer can’t stop singing. It’s quite hilarious.
Suit and Tie (Depends on the Occasion)
(preseries) Lister wears a suit. Rimmer wears a t-shirt. They both can’t stop staring at each other.
(preseries) Lister accidentally gets Rimmer suspended from work for a week. He expects moping, complaining, and whining; what he gets is indie rock, ramen noodles and surprisingly fantastic drawings. He might have to get his bunkmate suspended more often, if this keeps up.
The Good, the Bad, and the Smeggy
The Red Dwarf crew ends up traveling back to the Wild West. Lister ends up wearing a dress. That, ironically, isn’t the strangest thing that happens.
A leak in one of the stasis pods turns into a big problem when Rimmer is accidentally turned into a six year old.
(preseries) Lister and his pals are famous among the rest of the crew for their ridiculously fanatic truth-or-dare (but mostly dare) competitions. Somehow, Rimmer gets roped in. This leads to a series of rather bizarre events, many of which involving Lister ending up with a smegload of Petersen’s pocket change.
In which Lister says something nice, and Rimmer reacts.
Reading is F.U.N. (a Freaking Unnecessary Nuisance)
(preseries) Lister decides to help Rimmer study for his astronavigation exams; of course, this leads to his inevitable falling in love with the man.
Rimmer and Lister rescue a pair of alternate them’s from their collapsing ship— which means there are now two identical Listers and Rimmers on board Red Dwarf. It takes quite a long time to figure out just what is alternate about these alternate selves; the answer isn’t what anybody expected.
An explanation for the hiatus between seasons 8 and 9, in which our darling Rimzy returns from his adventures as Ace and ends up spending some time with his reincarnated self whilst trying to find Lister (and also accidentally realizing that he’s totally in love with the man)
Arnold Rimmer and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week
In which Rimmer suffers one ailment after another from a virus to an unfortunate emotional breakdown, with Lister by his side all the while (so maybe it wasn’t all that terrible).
Money isn’t Everything (But it Sure is a Lot)
In which Rimmer is rich (like, really smegging rich) and Lister doesn’t seem to care. This is something Rimmer isn’t used to, and also something that bothers him greatly.
To be Fair, it was Petersen’s Cat First
(preseries)(slight book reference) Lister agrees to watch over Petersen’s cat, Frankenstein, until he can find a place to keep her in his own quarters. Rimmer finds out. Now, with a big, potentially career-ruining secret between the two, Lister and Rimmer are forced to get to know each other— who would have known that they’d fall in love??
(preseries)(in which I pull a Will Riker and have a smegload of fun with it) An engine explosion somehow leaves the Red Dwarf crew with two Rimmers— one of which is absolutely smitten with Lister. Is it just an after-effect of the amnesia, or is our Rimmer repressing something?
Weed and Lily Allen (Or the One Where Rimmer Gets High)
(preseries) Rimmer is always stressed. Always, always, always. Then, he’s not stressed anymore. It might have something to do with the odd looking lettuce he found in Lister’s locker and added to his omelet.
