+ 2 for my 5 fellow desi heated rivalry fans:
Heated Rivalry incorrect quotes part 16/?
Part 15
Boy Mom is such a funny concept for me because in my country (India), the default setting of a mom is Boy Mom.
Like 90% of mothers will be boy moms.
And except my mother, every woman in my life who has kids is a boy Mom. They love their daughters but love their sons more. Make daughters learn house chores from a young age and make them serve their male siblings all the while babying their grown sons. Hate the women their sons marry even though it's an arranged marriage and they chose the bride.
Even when the kids are young, the favouritism is clear. But because it's the norm, no one says anything.
Of course, it has a lot to do with the fact that our society is strictly patriarchal. But still feel bad for my female cousins who have to serve their brother's food first and put their needs first. Emotional and otherwise.
OH NO MY KRYPTONITE: sad old people finding love again
you know, the only thing stopping me from being happy for this long overdue reckoning/second-chance romance between the hero's parents is my underlying sadness for this woman who got pregnant and had a child at fifteen, and clearly grew up too fast— was it one of the best case scenarios as far as her health, safety, future security, and the father, a man she loved, stepping up? Yeah, but it still happened, and it's depressing as hell to consider.
All of that isn't to say it's not a lovely, well-written secondary romance with nuance, and they do somewhat have a reckoning with what happened like... forty years ago, but there is never any dramatic "you took my CHILDHOOD from me" kinda monologue coming from this woman— whether she's reconciled with herself already, or this kind of thing was normalized enough back then and she feels she got the better end of the stick... or some other reason. Who knows.
True. As much as I like this book and this second chance romance, there is always a lingering sadness for what Lynn went through. And I wished we'd gotten that monologue.
I can't remember hating a piece of media as much as I hate this Wuthering Heights movie. I don't even have to watch it to hate it. I'll probably have to block the relevant tags because I know otherwise, I'll have to see this fuckass piece of shit in the form of gifs.
you're laughing. emerald fennell, a rich white woman, is adapting wuthering heights into a solely-for-shock-value film and ignoring all of the books themes on racism, cycles of abuse, and class. and casting heathcliff as a white man when he should be dark skinned. and casting edgar linton, the rich white man who holds immense privilege over heathcliff, as a man of color. this woman is racist and can't tackle class dynamics for shit but you're laughing
I don't know why I even thought for even a moment that this movie could be decent. Everything I learn about it makes me hate it even more. How could she be so blind? Why is she doing this? What is she getting out of this since she's clearly not doing it for the love of the art or the novel? Why not just make gone with the wind again? Why ruin Wuthering Heights? I want this movie to tank so bad I'm not even joking.
Okay, so The Force Awakens comes out and there are two characters Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) and Rey (played by Daisy Ridley). There is some chemistry and a new fandom emerges called Reylo.
A Reylo fanfic named Love Hypothesis becomes a huge bestseller and is now being adapted. Kylo Ren becomes Adam and Rey becomes Olive.
The role of Adam is being played by Rey's actress Daisy Ridley's husband named Tom Bateman.
And the villain in the novel is also called Tom.
They knew what they were doing right. I'm losing my mind.
Adam is the name of the Kylo Ren actor, Tom is the name of Rey's real life husband. Adam is the male love interest and Tom is the villain but the the real life Tom is playing Adam in the movie.
My two cents about the whole Cabo incident.
What Jeremiah did wasn't cheating technically. But the fact that he slept with someone twice immediately after a fight and break up doesn't make things great.
Especially since he knew about Christmas, it almost seems planned. Either, he wanted to hook up with Lacie or another girl and picked that stupid fight knowing he would have Christmas incident as his shield to divert responsibility for his actions.
Or it did happen impulsively, and he though he'd just go back and smooth things over. As we've seen, Belly has a habit of giving into him and not standing up for herself.
Whatever the reason, him sleeping with someone and then not groveling or doing any work on himself, like going to therapy. And talking to Belly sincerely about his insecurities, his drive to be like his father, his need for validation. I'm pretty sure he would've cheated on Belly for some reason or the other if they'd gotten married. And she probably would've forgiven him
I don't think Steven would've been that upset if knew about Cabo. Because he's canonically cheated on two of his girlfriend's and they can easily say that Belly and Jeremiah were broken up during Cabo so it doesn't count as cheating.
I just love the fact that I can't wear shorts in this sweltering heat in my own home as a 21 year old woman because a male relative is coming to stay with us and he feels uncomfortable while he can walk around bare-chested like owns the place. Just so much fun.
I joined Twitter a few days ago, just because.
And I'm already so exhausted from it.I don't know how people do it.
I mean, I do want to add that I personally think a lot of books being marketed as dark romance at this moment don't actually have any semblance of romance in them, even if they're SUPPOSED to be romances. So.
I think the problem with dark romances is that they don't have romance. They have abuse. The heroine is a perpetual victim who keeps getting hurt by this creepy dude and that's wrapped up as dark romance.
I think Anne Stuart books are good examples of dark romance done right because the heroines have a personality and lot of fight in them. There's character development and a complete arc for the heroine rather than just be a prop in their own story.

Funny thing about The Buccaneers that it says that it's about sisterhood and the girls but season 1 is just the St. George sisters being mean to others girls and not giving a damn about anyone but themselves.
I know it's probably not going to end well for Theo and Lizzy because Nan is the worst but I'm still wearing my clown hat and hoping that they get together.
