In honor of pride month, it's story time: I used to be close friends with this white cis guy whom, after I came out as trans, would start coming into my spaces to ask my then-partner and I very valid and poignant questions about being trans such as: "Are you sure you're not just trying to trick cis men into having sex with you?" and then, when called out on his extremely, nakedly transphobic behavior, he would go "Well, excuse me; I was just trying to UNDERSTAND so I can be a good ALLY! I can't be transphobic; I'm asexual! In fact, YOU'RE the one who's being bigoted towards ME, actually!".

Okay, so first: fuck right off with that shit. Lol. Lmao, even.

Second, and the actual reason I'm posting about any of this: this veritable font of charisma had recently shirked stable employment so he could be (get ready for this)... a let's player.

My man just woke up one day and said to himself: "I know exactly what I'm gonna drop everything right this moment to pursue: I'm gonna be Game Grumps! In 2024!". This guy unironically expected the viewership necessary to treat not just any field of content creation, but let's playing, as a full-time job to just fall into his lap instantly like it was his god-given right.

I only checked out the stuff he was uploading once, shortly before I stopped interacting with him, and I am completely unsurprised to report that it contained zero discernible effort. His nigh-inaudible commentary barely existed and was as dry as the Atacama when it did. No humor, no warmth, just a guy quietly playing video games in his room, the silence only ever broken by the rare mundane musing he would mumble to himself. To this day, I have absolutely no idea what he thought he was actually going to accomplish. I'd say "don't quit your day job", but, uh... hmm.

Anyway, I'd like to dedicate any success I might one day find in my artistic pursuits to that guy; your abject hubris is at least partially what inspired me to follow my own creative passions, because I know in my heart that I can do just about anything I set my mind to leagues better than you ever could.
