parents have a special obligation to care for, respect, and honour their kids as human beings. parents are a child’s first introduction to close loving relationships, so they are required to be more careful, not less, with the way they treat you.
sometimes parents have to overrule children to protect you when you are too young to make certain decisions. but this should never be done in a violent or cruel manner, and ideally they should talk to you about why you can’t make a certain choice for yourself, because it’s their job to teach you to how to think about and make those good choices on your own.
you should be able to expect that your parents treat you right. they don’t get a pass to be abusive or cruel or emotionally unsupportive just because they’re your parents. you are not obligated to search for reasons to justify abuse or neglect from the people who are most responsible to protect and care for you.
be gentle with yourself if you are struggling with this. you deserve kindness, love, and respect, and you always have.
all lesbians do is sit around thinking about their future wives and sustainable agriculture

First you start knitting, then you try crochet (or the other way around) because that cool project requires it, then you see all that marvelous embroidery and you think why not? At a certain point you wonder, is it so hard to sew clothes? Maybe you could try, and you start thinking about that old sewing machine in the attics. Then you see a video of someone spinning wool and you feel your hands itching, but wool is so expensive, how much does keeping alpacas costs, then
I feel personally called out by this post
Emily the Psychic(?) Chicken predicts a win for England this evening!
if you’re transphobic you can’t be a farmer. sorry.

How we made our Scarecrow
Materials:
A bamboo stick from the vegetable garden
A stick from the yard
String
Straw from the packaing of a plant we bought
Scraps from the sewing box
Baby clothes from the charity shop
Total cost £1
First we put the stick through the shirt sleeves and the bamboo cane up through the neck. We tied them together tightly, leaving just enough cane above the collar to attach the head later.
Next we sewed up the bottom of the trouser legs and stuffed them with straw. The trousers had a little loop at the back, so we ran the bamboo cane through that, so that it was running through the middle of the shirt and then behind the trousers.
Next we sewed the bottom of the shirt to the top of the trousers, with the shirt folded over a little to look neat. We filled up the shirt with straw and that’s the body done!
For the head we found an old t shirt in a suitable colour and cut a big, rough circle shape. We made a pile of straw in the middle and then gathered up the edges to make a rough sphere, first using a hair bobble, then sewing it up when the head had the right amount of stuffing.
Our scarecrow has orange yarn hair and green button eyes. The other features are made out of scraps of material from old clothes. When the head was finished we stuck it on top of the bamboo cane through the hole where the material had been gathered up, then sewed it on to the collar just to keep it steady.
She was so proud of her leaf.
