— JADE DID HER BEST TO CONCEAL ANY disappointment at astrid’s response to her question. of course she hadn’t meant anything by it. the red-head was just getting ahead of herself as usual and embarrassing herself. “i don’t think it’s shameful,” she replied with a shake of her head. “it’s just my dates themselves don’t seem to end very well. that’s the embarrassing part.” instead of looking at astrid in the eyes, she focused on the food she was being offered instead. she smiled to herself as she grabbed a handful of pretzels to munch on and hopefully be able to survive the rest of their conversation.Â
her stomach sunk further as astrid offered to set her up with some friends. oh god. “no, no, it’s okay. i wouldn’t want to put you out like tha–,” she trailed off as astrid reached forward to push her hair back. jade inhaled sharply as the invasion of her personal space and stared at the alpha for a moment before returning to her sense. “th-thank you. to be honest, i’m not exactly sure what my type is ? i haven’t dated much as you might be able to tell.”
   —  “WELL, YOU SHOULDN’T BE EMBARRASSED,” astrid said resolutely. “if your dates can’t treat you well, then that’s on them. you’re a beautiful omega and have a lot to offer from what i’ve seen. if your dates can’t see that, they’re just stupid.” she thinks she might be doing okay. at least that sounded like solid advice. maybe she wasn’t as bad at this as she thought. this was practically work, except she was talking to a friend.
“are you sure ? i have a few that are good enough alphas to know how to behave. or do you only date betas ? or do you not care ?” astrid was fully aware that she was rambling and cleared her throat hastily and forced some more pretzels into jade’s unsuspecting hands. “you should eat more, jade, i have no idea when those two will be done with their lovey dovey makeout session, so this might be all i can feed you for a while ... and it was only a suggestion, of course, no need to take me up on it if you don’t want to date.”
