ITS SERIOUSLY MY LEAST FAVORITE THING, I posted about this so long ago and thought I was the only one but it seems a lotta people agree which makes me feel so relieved.

I hate crapping all over somebody’s hard work and characterization because I personally LOVE to characterize and storytell but this one to me is just SO unoriginal lazy AND distasteful because from what I can see darlin’ isn’t even like that at all in the series, just the most boss thang ive ever seen

distasteful is actually just the word to describe it!! like characters being mischaracterized and scrubbed down to exactly ONE character trait is so common in fandom spaces but something about how it's being done to darlin specifically upsets me so MUCH.

to take darlin, who shows so much consideration for those around them, who puts themself in danger and tries to carry a heavy burden alone because they think it's the only way to keep their loved ones safe, who at the beginning of the series just went through something traumatic that they blame themself for and who only wants to stop quinn from causing more harm to innocent people, and then twist their character into somebody who is dangerous and selfishly starts fights at the smallest provocation with no consideration for others feels almost sinister.

the way a lot of the fandom treats darlin almost mirrors how quinn treated them: as somebody who needs to be kept on a tight leash and can't be left to their own devices.
