It's been a while since I posted something. I bought a 3D printer and I've been quite busy with it. There's been a lot of failures but it's so much fun working with it! Unfortunately today, I kind of destroyed the nozzle. Wanhaos method of clearing a filament block sucks.. the internet knew better. Need to buy a new nozzle :(
It's taking forever to print the parts for the plant-watering-system since I only have access to the makerspace 3 times a week. I usually only have time for one visit per week though and have to finish printing while it's open for 5h. And of course, printers can be occupied. So.. I've bought a 3D printer! Should arrive in a couple of weeks :) #3dprinting #wanhaoi3plus #lundsöppnaverkstad #diy
Much, much, much better! Professional 3D printer guy from now on! #3dprinting #wanhaoi3plus #diy
I made a mistake for the USB connectors so one of them is flipped over. Lessons learned: I have outputs from the PCB to a step-up module and then inputs for it which is just plain unneccesary.. I can just run everything at 5V and then boost the voltage directly at the DC motor. The TIP120 gets really hot! I measured 70° C. The mighty internet has revealed that it's bettet to use a MOSFET. I'll keep it like this for this project but will create a heat sink for the TIP. Other than that, all seems to be working! Now I need me some 3D prints 👩🔧 #arduino #electronics #diy #engineering
Aaaw yeees! They have arrived 😄 #pcb #eaglecad #electronics #diy
First print, complete disaster. They got unstuck on one end from the print bed which I guess is the reason they look like they do. I'm guessing the brim was too small. Next try is on saturday 🙂 #lundsöppnaverkstad #wanhaoi3plus #3dprinting #diy
I joined the local makerspace to get access to these sweethearts! First print for the ongoing project. #wanhaoi3plus #3dprinting #diy #lundsöppnaverkstad (på/i Lunds Öppna Verkstad)
I've finally receieved everything I ordered from eBay! I forgot to buy capacitorst hough but I'll just buy them from a local store. The PCB is also ordered! Next step is to develop arduino code, finish the android app and finally finish the CAD so I can 3D-print the son of a gun. #engineering #arduino #diy #electronics #android #cad #pcb
Testing the peristaltic pump together with the step up module, powered using a USB adapter. I tried hooking the pump directly to the USB power output even though the specs of the pump says it requires 6V. Seems to work ok at 5V also but runs slower.
More and more components showing up in the mailbox! It looks kind of cramped so might need to redo the design so the components fit. #diy #arduino #makers #engineering
Hmm, where and how to place components? Also, need to redo the PCB.. shocker. #diy #engineer #electronics #arduino
@stefan.granlund let me borrow his makerbot thing-o-matic! And I've realized 3D printing is everything but easy.. need to go back to freecad and redo a lot of my designs 🤣🔫 #3dprinting
PCB for the plant waterer. Re-done this like a billion times because I keep forgetting I/Os. Hopefully this is the final design but probably not. Doesn't matter, this stuff is fun 👩💻 #eaglecad #arduino #diy #pcb #engineer
Working as a project manager is fun and all but I really miss pure engineering. That's why creating custom android views that require some math skill has been nothing but pleasure for my brain! Not far from finalizing the vital functions in the app now. Soon.. soon I'll be back at the soldering iron! #android #programmer #coding #diy
Been spending a lot of time coding the android app. But progression is slow, mainly because I want to have custom views. I've never coded my own views before and also I can't seem to decide their look and feel so this is taking forever. The gauge in the picture is a WIP for displaying the soil moisture level #android #development #app
Still slow progress :( My job is kind of demanding at the moment and I just feel too tired to spend my evenings working with the hobby. Anywho, here's what I manage to cook together in a couple of hours. I'm fairly pleased with the animations and will probably use them. Still a very long way to go before app is finished. #android #diy
