the trajectory of winnie's life in the past year or so has been nothing if not chaotic, and so very far from linear. from demitri getting custody of valerie to fully moving in with greyson and going to a psychiatrist. she's really trying. she's working on the grounding techniques when she loses track of reality. she's pushing herself out of bed and going to the bakery every day. she's working out. sure, she looked like a model citizen to the naked eye. winnie's just learned to internalize everything. for better or worse, everyone in her life seemed to prefer it. winnie's tiptoeing down the steps in her pajamas to the living room where she finds greyson on the couch. she leans down and falls into his side playfully, nuzzling into the nape of his neck, smiling. winnie's chin rests on greyson's shoulder and she pecks his neck gently. "hey, i wanted to talk to you about something," she pulls back the slightest bit, shifting to her side so she can see him. "what… are we?" eyebrow raises in inquiry. "i mean, obviously we're something. parents. romantically, though, what do you see us as?" she's preparing for a few possible outcomes with her question. "it's not a trick question. you can just tell me what you think."

noah wasn’t sure if it was the fourth whiskey sour or the pounding bass that made everything feel vaguely unreal, but the moment the stripper stepped into his lap and tossed her hair over her shoulder, his entire body went into a state of shock. the noise of the bachelor party dulled around him — his brother yelling, someone chanting his name, the stupid sash slung across his chest. but all he could focus on was her. familiar eyes and a flicker of recognition that punched the breath straight out of his lungs. “holy shit,” he said, voice barely audible over the music, his hands frozen midair, not daring to touch. it was her. her. his high school sweetheart. the girl he thought he’d never see again, not like this, and definitely not the week before he was supposed to marry someone else.

record scratch. freeze frame. yep, that's me. i bet you're wondering how i got here. it's the only tangible thought elle can compose. the last time she recalled seeing noah was when she got into her beat up volkswagen jetta and headed north to study photography. she vividly remembers kissing him goodbye, knowing she's never going to see him again. elle's future was set. she was going to be an amazing boudoir photographer. it went well at first, but currently, there's a lull in her business. very little to no income calls for desperate measures — hence her position on noah's lap. it's humiliating. almost instantly, her cheeks flush. noah does recognize her. not much had changed aside from the attire and confidence. elle ducks down to his ear, "holy shit indeed," she quips, hands running down his chest. "not the girl you thought i'd be, huh?" elle offers a half smile, continuing to put on the show so his buddies wouldn't know a thing. "i'll keep it short. i know you've got a line of ladies wanting to do this," she teases nodding to the other dancers.

the image that flashes across her screen causes her breath to hitch. tini is immediately shooting upright to observe the attachment in its glory. the pale skin shadowed by the night sky. the blonde hair that plays peek-a-boo makes her grin, a sliver into the identity of the person on the other end of the tether. the thrum of her heartbeat pounds against her rib cage and the trill of it all makes her gleefully smile. "tasteful." is all she can think to reply as she searches her mind for an idea of what could even come close to the ethereal image gracing her screen. tini rises clumsily from her head, legs quite defiant as her head is sent reeling. the redhead kicks off her oversized sweatpants and adjust her thong on her hips. they're a typical gray, from the target five pack pair. so she has to find a way to a make them suitable for the exchange. she hikes them up so the accentuate the curvature of her ass. looking over her shoulder in the mirror, tini silently deems it a success. a waterfall of auburn cascades down her back as she releases the teeth of her claw clip. she then slips her tank top over her head until she's just standing her underwear. the breeze makes self conscious goosebumps bubble to the surface and tini grins at the thrill. the camera app flashes across her screen and she holds the phone above her so the mirror can be seen at her back. the front facing angle is perfectly highlighting the jut of her ass in the full length mirror. she tilts the phone and presses her tits together with the help of her arm. cleavage pops up at the bottom corner of the screen. when the camera snap, tini can hardly recognize the body as her own. she send it before she can second guess herself. "all for you." drunk on the infatuation, the girl types. "i think you did it better, though. is it weird i'm just imaging what you look like behind that phone? don't get me wrong, definitely appreciating your body. but.. is too intimate to say i want more?"

her phone buzzes in her hand and for a moment, she just lets it go. of course it's going to be tini's reply. of course morgan's going to panic about it. she's not an insecure woman. morgan knows she's conventionally beautiful, but something about knowing that photo was going to tini made her anxious. her heart races as she opens her messages. morgan blinks a couple of times. she thinks, 'was it too tasteful?' she doesn't have long to ponder her apprehension as tini has sent another reply. breath taking. her stomach flip flops, lesser lip between her teeth. the cascade of red hair. the perfect curve of her ass. she doesn't feel worthy as she reads 'all for you.' morgan reads the final message, goosebumps prickling her skin. "no, no. you definitely did it better. yours are effortless. sexy. i can't even see your face and i know you wake up looking like a goddess." morgan's thinking of how to respond to tini without writing 'ditto.' hues dart to her window again, staring directly at the redhead's house. she climbs off of her bed and pads to the window. fingers reach for the cord of her blinds. she pulls gently, allowing the covering to rise. morgan is in full view if tini opens her blinds. she presses the audio recording button and says, breathlessly, albeit sultry, "you know, you could just come over." she clasps a hand over her mouth, mortified but exhilarated at the same time.

she'd gone too hard last night. she shouldn't have trusted the blue tablet that some random man at the dive had offered her. she certainly she shouldn't have chased it with three shots of tequila either. headache reeling, maura can hardly keep her eyes open when she hears a rapid knocking on the door. there was only one person it could be, one person bold enough to disturb her slumber. maura wraps herself in a blanket cocoon and haunts her way over to the door, a ghoulish wash of color plaguing her features as she fears she might hurl. "bitch, shut the fuck up." maura remarks. she always mean she was tired. curls are spouting off in a million different directions, and maura can tell by the draft she's like showcasing a nip slip. "your present better be some intervenes electrolytes and an eight ball." the girl spins around and leaves the door open in her path before collapsing horizontally on the couch, face down in the pillow as she mumbles. "you're like the grim reaper. put me out of my misery."

an eye roll. cassia gives a huff of a sigh at maura's remark. "you don't scare me, bitch," she retorts just before maura opens the door. instead of a scowl, cassia grins at her. "honey, you're beautiful," she coos, pressing a hand to either side of her face and squeezing gently. cassia reaches down to fix maura's top, laughter slipping past her lips. "you were givin' me a show. not that i minded," she quips with a smirk before following her friend inside. despite maura's demeanor, cassia remains positive. not much brings her down -- and what does can be fixed with a bump. she flops down on the couch by maura's feet. cassia reaches into the top of her sweatshirt and retrieves a small pendant with an even smaller spoon. she takes the loose necklace off and hands maura the charm. "now, now, maura. i'm much too short to be the grim reaper. i also don't have a scythe, so… i don't think i'm legally allowed to own one, though. no weapons on probation, right?" she winks, as if she's not holding cocaine and sharing it. she's never been worried about failing a drug test. her probation officer is very hands off which cassia appreciates. in her deluded mind, she won't be asked to take a random. it hasn't happened yet, so why would she worry about it? "you do the honors, my love. it is you that needs to be elevated from the depths of hell. what even happened to you last night? i was with some guy i met online for a minute and then i lost you!" she puts an index finger in the air, as if she's remembered something. "i also have liquid iv. it's the bomb pop flavor. needless to say... it's bomb."

cassia's bored. in fact, she's been bored for a few days. cassia has so many acquaintances but very few true friends. she's come to see maura as a friend, often going out with her until the wee hours of the morning, trying any drug they can get their grubby little hands on. cassia truly never laughs as much with anyone. naturally, when maura went into hibernation for a few days, cassia couldn't have it. she's pounding on maura's door, and this isn't an unusual scenario. "bitch! come on --" she knocks again. "i know you love a nap but this is a coma! i have… presents." she pauses, but then hits her head against the door softly a few times. "maura... i'm so lonely. let me come back, wifey. i promise i won't look at them other girls ever again!" she feigns a fake southern accent. one can almost hear the pout that tugs at her lips from her voice alone. "baby come back..." cassia sings softly against the door before letting out a chuckle. "just let me in, girl, i don't care what your apartment looks like."
