Capulet cousin headcanons because I will never stop mourning the total of zero scenes they get together:
- I’ve already talked about Tybalt having pointed canines a couple times, and I like the idea of Juliet having sharp teeth, too. It’s genetic on Lady Capulet’s side.
- Also they’re both biters. Juliet can sit for hours chewing on Romeo’s arms and cheek and hips and be perfectly content. She’s very gentle most of the time, because otherwise he’ll pull away, so she quickly learned that if she’s doesn’t bite hard she can gnaw on him as long as she wants. Sometimes she’ll just sit there and hold his hand in her mouth. Romeo is generally indifferent to it, but it makes her happy, and that makes him happy.
- Tybalt is not gentle. I’m a firm Bencutio past-situationship believer, and Tybalt would to sink his teeth into any inch of Benvolio he could get to. He’s not a human chewtoy kinda guy, though, but when he bites, he leaves marks and goes for the neck like a vampire.
- Mercutio’s Prince of Cats mocking isn’t just based on Tybalt’s name, Tybalt does actually act very catlike. He prowls and stalks and slinks and, despite his height and muscle mass from years of fencing schooling, treads very lightly. He plays with his food when he fights, prolonging killing or maiming for the love of the game—and also because he desperately wants to avoid doing any real harm to his opponent.
- He also sleeps like a cat, curled into a protective ball with his head nestled in his arms, and makes little noises in his sleep like that deaf black cat on Instagram named Otter that lets out little meows and purrs and sighs when he wakes up.
- Also. Catlike Juliet. When she wants attention from someone, she’ll follow them around until they finally stop what they’re doing and give her their full attention. Sometimes she’ll lie on the floor in front of the glass doors to her balcony because that spot gets a lot of sunlight. She canonically compares Romeo to birds that she wants to call or trap, which I think is a very feline way of viewing someone.
- Tybalt has always hated the fact that he, the closest thing Lord Capulet can get to a male heir, has to attend so many diplomatic meetings and dinners. Now he seethes in silence and zones out when it gets too boring, but when he was younger, he would sneak away whenever he could to go hang out with Juliet, who was not allowed to attend said meetings and dinners.
- Juliet always wanted to, though, because she felt left out and thought the dinners were exciting. When they were little, she and Tybalt would fantasize disguising as one another and swapping places. It never would have worked, though, because Juliet takes more after her father in terms of appearance, while Tybalt is very clearly related to Juliet’s mother.
- They used to have sleepovers in Tybalt’s bed all the time. They grew out of it, but they’ll still have them on occasion. Juliet will make Tybalt tell her stories, because he’s good at it, and he’ll talk until one of them falls asleep. Usually it’ll be Juliet, but sometimes Tybalt will be weaving a tale for so long he’ll start drifting off, and Juliet will it pick up for him and stay awake for what can be hours on end, talking to herself in the dark while Tybalt sleeps.
- Juliet loves scampering around the house, exploring every inch and finding secret passageways. A lot of said passageways are typical hidden corridors and staircases meant for the servants to travel unseen by nobles and dignitaries, though, so she develops a bad habit of getting in the way and nearly running into people while they’re trying to do their job.
- Tybalt taught Juliet a few simple fencing moves. She doesn’t use them, though; she hates fighting, and if the necessity arose, her instincts would be to bite and scratch and kick, anyway.
