"Imagine it’s a warning sign, I don’t wanna lose more time. Darling, don’t you close your eyes, Keep listening, are you listening?"
Give all of us gathered here tonight the strength to remember that life is so very fragile. We are all vulnerable and we will all at some point in our lives fall; we will all fall. We must carry this in our hearts, that what we have is special. That it can be taken from us, and that when it is taken from us, we will be tested. We will be tested to our very souls. We will now all be tested. It is these times, it is this pain, that allows us to look inside ourselves.
Coach Eric Taylor, Friday Night Lights
Rivers and roads, Rivers and roads, Rivers 'til I reach you.
The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because it’s only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend. They can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. the way they see themselves, the way they see the world, you can change the way people live their lives. That’s the only lasting thing you can create.

"Falling Slowly" by the original cast for Once the Musical
On repeat. "Take this sinking boat and point it home, we've still got time."
"This is not déjà vu, I've never met somebody like you"
"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes to make them possible."
T.E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia)
Simple + original. Vance Joy's songs are catchy, but something about them is also uniquely new. I think it's the story behind each song that makes him such a breath of fresh air in music, at least for me. All of his songs are wonderful, but I thoroughly enjoyed this video and wanted to share.
"You say you're used to playin' with fire. You say your heart is on your sleeve. You say you're sometimes sentimental, well that ain't showin through to me."
"You can get lost in the music for hours, honey, you can get lost in a room. We can play music for hours and hours, but the sun'll still be coming up soon."
Everyone returns us to a different sense of ourselves, for we become a little of who they think we are.
Alain de Botton, Essays in Love
"You lift my heart up when the rest of me is down. You, you enchant me even when you're not around. If there are boundaries, I will try to knock them down."
I've got Sam Smith on repeat. His songs are a raw combination of soothing vocals, soulful beats, and strong lyrics.
Books were safer than other people anyway.
Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane
"Getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air."
This will always be one of my favorite TED talks. It's a reminder on tough days that life is innately difficult, but as humans, what we have going for us is the strength to persevere. This is something I've been learning over the past few years: it's okay to be vulnerable and fragile, because that in itself is a sign of bravery and fearlessness.
I believe the universe wants to be noticed. I think the universe is inprobably biased toward the consciousness, that it rewards intelligence in part because the universe enjoys its elegance being observed. And who am I, living in the middle of history, to tell the universe that it-or my observation of it-is temporary?
John Green, The Fault In Our Stars
"I've been chasing this idea about a perfect life, but life is unpredictable and irrational and complicated and I want a complicated life."
So excited for this movie! Tina Fey + Jason Bateman, need I say more?
I care not how similar 'Wish I Was Here' is to 'Garden State'. I will watch, and hopefully, love it. If anything, I know the soundtrack will be amazing.
