Just because you’re perceived as something by homo/transphobic antisemitic idiots doesn’t mean you’re now part of the oppressed group.

Sometimes I’m perceived as straight, that doesn’t make me straight !!! If I’m perceived as trans that doesn’t make me trans !!! Or give me the right to reclaim trans slurs !!! If I’m perceived as Jewish that doesn’t mean I’m suddenly Jewish or can cash in on the oppression holy shit.

this is why only lesbians can reclaim dyke. Because it’s a slur...meant for lesbians...to demean their lack of attraction towards men and their attraction to women. It doesn’t make any sense used in another context, and just because ignorant people use it as an insult doesn’t mean everyone else can go to town with reclaiming it

dude, stop treating bi women like secondary wlw. we aren’t any less oppressed for being attracted to men. the word “dyke” is about being attracted to women. not about the lack of attraction to men. if that were the case, aroace women would be allowed to reclaim dyke. our attraction to men does not diminish the discrimination we face due to our attraction to women. plenty of bi women have been called dykes, myself included. there are better things to do besides police bisexual women on the slurs they want to reclaim.

No one is saying pansexuals aren't LGBT. No one is saying their attraction to more than one gender is invalid. We are saying that the label they choose to use is harmful. It's not a hard concept to grasp.

I made this post about people who make bisexual women feel unwelcome or even hated even in LGBT spaces, the spaces that are literally made for them, because they’re biphobic idiots who literally despise bisexual women for daring to exist in LG B T spaces. Because they’re ~too straight~ or ~filthy bihetties invading WLW spaces~. Bi women, even those who prefer men, are still WLW. They are oppressed because they are WLW, and fuckwads like you make them feel like they don’t belong in any space; either with hets or LGBT people. Bi women don’t owe you a preference to women, or gender nonconformity, or rejection of men to be in LGBT spaces. Bi women don’t owe you shit. We are already ‘LGBT enough’.

while yes “not all pansexuals are biphobic,” the very existence and invention and need felt to use the word and the movement in general are rooted in biphobia and this distinct lable is unnecassary. Bisexuality =/= love of 2 genders alone without nuance and a focus on sex

even if you squint enough that you’re not being biphobic and say “like all other bisexuals im attracted to more that one gender but I am ~gender blind~” you wouldn’t need to make pan it’s own sexuality because it describes how you experience attraction and not who you are attracted to, which is by definition a microlabel and not a sexuality and microlabels pointlessly divide the community usually where no one asked for it. ๑ In 1969, a series of spontaneous and violent riots in response to the June 28th police raid of the Stonewall Inn took place—commonly known as the Stonewall riots. The patrons of the bar, bisexuals included, followed Stonewall leaders such as Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P. Johnson, and Miss Major to the streets in order to fight for LGBTQ rights.

๑ bisexual activist Stephen Donaldson (also known as Donny the Punk) founded the first university-sanctioned gay student group, the Student Homophile League, at Columbia University.

๑ In response to Stonewall, bisexual activist Brenda Howard organized the Christopher Street Liberation Day March a month after the riots.

๑ A year later, Howard coordinated another march to commemorate the year anniversary of the Stonewall riots, thus beginning the longstanding tradition of pride parades each year. Because of this, she is often known as the "Mother of Pride."

๑ Brenda went on to found the New York Area Bisexual Network to coordinate resources for regional bi+ individuals. NYABN is still active.

๑ The first bisexual political organization, BiPOL, was established in San Francisco in 1983.

๑ As a result of BiPOL's nationwide lobbying efforts, bisexuals were successfully included on the platform of the 1993 March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation.

๑ The Bisexual Pride flag was designed by Michael Page and unveiled in 1998.

๑ The inaugural Celebrate Bisexual Day, now sometimes referred to as Bi Visibility Day, was created by Wendy Curry, Michael Page, and Gigi Raven Wilbur in 1999 and continues to be celebrated every September 23rd.
