Duuuuuuude, this is so fucking cool! Ok I need to be a little autistic about this- I have the right, my dad is an astrophysicist! Those little lines are high energy state plasma being pulled along by magnetic fields, and shot out and away form the sun! Some of the lines are recursive too- since the magnetic field returns to the sun's core, pulling plasma from the core, and returning it to the sun's surface! We can literally see the magnetic field of the sun in this photo! That's so cool.

The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.

At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.

Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”

i've always wondered what human speech would look like visually in the POV of eridians in the same way eridian speech is written as music notes in the book and my favorite version of it i've seen in fics is when words are written as phonetics in rocky's POV :-) oh and also that one post about rocky and grace figuring out random words they can say in the other's language

can't stop thinking about how andy weir said that rocky is essentially baby talking to grace the entire time because the way he normally speaks is too advanced for their makeshift translator to understand (which makes sense, there is a limited amount of words inputted). so basically the entire time we've been treating rocky as if he's one of the dogs from "up", the ones with the collar that outputs their thoughts in human language. we've been treating rocky like a pet. when actually, rocky has been talking to ryland like a puppy the entire time.... even before y'alls fanon of ryland becoming rocky and adrian's pet human in his zoo enclosure.
