Louis dressing Lestat:
Armand dressing Lestat:
Lestat dressing himself:
I'M ALIVE!!
Didn't post anything in a while because of the exams, but hey, look at this little animation i made : P
armand was feeling a little thirsty in episode 4
why are people genuinely shipping Marius and Magnus with characters, how about we ship them to a prison facility
this is how I watch the vampire lestat as a lesmand truther
I think what many don't get about Armand and submission is that it's not manipulative, or a lie, in that he's using it as some kind of act to have his upper hand of control go unnoticed. Submission is a deep part of who he is, and what he desires, and this is true to him, and so a part of him does want to not have so much power or say or control. To not submit in the same manner as he was made to be coven leader, right. It is just that he can't articulate he has any other kind of want, does not believe he can have, or think he has them, doesn't know what those are. And so then because he believes he's not to have control of want for anything, or doesn't believe, or know, he has any other wants, that articulating them is bad for love - and so can't - it makes this a situation where he cleverly works around having said wants which exist outside this, often still under a premise of submitting as to be good, and often under the perception of him doing the right thing, a service as to revere them, of being what the other wants of him, of what's expected. Or, in other instances, it's a resentment in having all these unnamed wants unmet building to a point he gets angry, and this anger fights in inappropriate ways for what is lacking. Because again, how he perceives submission, it is totalizing, he can't articulate his own needs, his needs need to be articulated for him. But that's not how that works, he can't expect himself or another to give it 100 all the time, and it's not what he really needs or wants either all the time. It's not therefore manipulative, per se, even if he manipulates within this framework, its core is it being a mental trap he is in - rooted in trauma. He also doesn't know exactly what he wants more than this, because this is all he's ever had, and all he's ever known to be what is good, and expected, and what is to be in love. It's just easier to see Armand as submitting through the lens of it being for Marius, than it is to think he thinks he's ever in a position to have this control, unless control is something he is expected to have, is something he's been articulated by someone else he needs to do, or which can only make sense for survival of himself or the other or both. The way he has been able to survive is rendered abusive from the cruelty of what it meant to be able to do so.
Lestat's new song🎵🎶
I haven't been able to put it into words but there is something to the fact that Lestat's trauma was so wild and tumultuous and came out of nowhere and how Lestat is. Well I mean he put it best. Toxic bitch, anxiously attached, show-pony with a personality disorder. He's a hurricane. He reacts and he reacts hard.
And how Armand's trauma was so prolonged and sustained and almost predictable in the most awful way possible and how he was in pain for so long. And Armand is the one who messes with people's minds and waits and watches and lies. He's a painting, he isn't an active participant in his life.
It really is unstoppable force meets immovable object. They are so similar and so different and I love them. It's never lesmandover
this is actually so true, they are foils to each other in the worst possible ways sjdhisjshdk they make me so sick!!!! the way that I always thought about the reason they deal with their trauma so differently is that they both in some way tend to replicate the abusive dynamics that traumatized them, even when they try desperately not to
For Armand, he always puts himself in positions of power, the maítre/ master role he assumes when ruling his cult or even toward the theatre des vampirs, in the same way that Marius was his maítre/master while he was forced to be the slave. He's trying to break out of that submissive role, at the same time as soon as he gets into a relationship, he falls into his old patterns, letting himself be called Arun and addressing all his known partners in the show as maítre.
For Lestat, his major thing seems to be abandonment issues from when Magnus threw himself into the fire and the drastic way his relationship with Nicki ended. He tries to make a big show of turning Louis consensually and being there for him to teach him how to be a vampire, something Lestat himself never got, but much like Magnus his insecurity makes him prone to extreme abusive violence and a need to control others. This insecurity is also definitely what makes him more easy to manipulate for Gabriella and probably later on Akasha.
While they both superficially try to break out of their traumas, it's very clear they haven't actually worked through them, but I find it so interesting how that has lead them down these extremely different paths :0
Absolutely insane.
I am so lesmand-pilled I was fully ready for armand to lick the blood off of him-

✨My version of the “Abduction of Helen”, which is my contribution to @singomusezine, last volume coming out in July, as you know, full of great fellow artists drawing Greek Mythology awesomeness.
I chose this episode from The Iliad, Book III as the theme of the zine this year is about The Trojan War and all related.
🍏🦢 Paris and Helen of Sparta/Troy.
I was going to write about the meaning of the illustration and what I’ve expressed here, based on that episode, but I prefer to leave it to your understanding and imagination. And I’m sure you can also spot the little symbols I’ve included. I hope you like it ❤️
