viper rolled her eyes at calico's line of questioning. everyone tried to get herself, radar, kaito or jiwoo to reveal the things that they knew about ghost. keenly, they always seemed to forget that her name was ghost for a reason.

"nobody knows anything about ghost, other than we have the same goals. that is the whole point of her." she was efficient and merciless to the enemies of diamond city but she would likely always remain an unsolved mystery, even if they discovered the person behind the mask. whenever viper had tried to entertain conversation with her, it didn't seem like ghost was even of this world.

"to be honest, i don't give a fuck whether it's ravenheart or ruby who rules." she said, curtly. she didn't like ravenheart based on her interference with chainsaw's operations over the last few months. but all criminal on their level were the same. selfish and heartless, even when they claimed to love you.

"don't worry about chainsaw. ravenheart or whitestar could wipe all of us out and there would be someone else to take the mantle. it is about the idea, not the people." she said, with an almost wicked grin. whitestar knew that they couldn't win permanently which is why they were mostly ignored. it wasn't worth it to waste resources.

her gaze flicked up the drink board with a light smirk. she'd clocked calico's affliction within minutes of meeting her the first time. viper had spent enough time around jiwoo to spot the signs. "want something a little more human, huh?" she questioned. she shifted her body closer and tilted her head slightly. "nobody would look twice if you wanted to indulge right here. i've always wondered what it felt like, you know?"

calico simply nodded along to viper's words as they answered her question about ghost. she figured it would be nearly impossible to get any information out of her, so she wasn't surprised or disappointed at her answer.

"i guess i can see why it wouldn't matter to you." the pink haired woman replied. her tone remained neutral, offering no hostility. though loyal to ruby until the end, she was aware that her war with ravenheart didn't matter to everyone in the city. for a moment it looked like she was about to say more on the matter, but decided to drop the topic for now.

"i know what you mean." she nodded. "someone will want to stick it to the corpos anyway. i bet you got more street kids wanting to help your cause every day, hm?" she wasn't entirely sure if the whole cause was worth dying for as the cycle of oppression from corpos appeared to be unshakable, but she respected chainsaw's resilience and dedication to their cause.

viper's offer surprised her. it wasn't often she ran into someone so willing to be fed on, which is why she mostly resorted to obtaining blood through other sources. and she refused to drink from babs on principle, as she was worried about what would happen if she accidentally went too far.

"since you're offering..." she leaned in closer with the intent of sinking her fangs into viper, but suddenly stopped. "actually..." she paused for a second. "you got any substances in you right now? not that it bothers me, i'd just rather be aware of what i'm consuming." calico wasn't too picky about her diet, but it didn't hurt to know what she'd be getting into.

camilla's past experience of parental neglect means that whenever someone does show her affection, she will cling onto them and become easily attached to them. and since her parents didn't even try to pretend like they cared about her, she has a really hard time telling the difference between fake affection and real one.

"baby, i feel kinda weird." camilla clung to laura's arm, staring at her girlfriend with big sad eyes as they walked away from the club together. "all that blood source around and you didn't even try to stop me. i feel so gross now."

though what she brought up were genuine concerns, camilla deliberately put on a tone that made it seem like she wasn't that mad at her. she knew what happened if laura got upset and she wanted to avoid that at all costs. she thought if she used a not-so-serious tone and paired it with puppy eyes, then surely laura would feel bad enough to want to make it up to her and maybe even apologize.

"how about we stay out out a bit more and do something fun, hm?" camilla gave laura a small kiss on her lips as she did her best to lighten the situation, but within her was an underlying feeling that not only did laura not stop her bad habits but encouraged them. she refused to accept that as a truth, however, and quickly shooed those thoughts away every time they entered her mind.

unbothered act aside, she meant every word she said. camilla refused to begin her daysleep in this state. she firmly believed she had to burn through some of that blood that she overindulged herself in. what if she woke up the next evening and felt even more gross? that just simply couldn't happen.

the shot of pain that rippled through her veins wasn't enough to force lacey away from the body that now lay limply in her arms. her maw was coated crimson, hands bathed in liquid gloves that dripped down her exposed forearms. she hadn't always been a messy eater -- that had come when she had started to enjoy hunting, taking as much as she could to experience the brief euphoria that came with lack of hunger. alas, it never lasted long enough to sate her. she would always want more and the hunger would always grow. one day she would surely lose herself to the beast in her veins, but until then she had decided that she would enjoy every drop that she could from the mortals she drank from. why waste it?

besides, this wasn't just blood. it was hunter blood. despite the pain of gods will burning inside of her, lacey continued to drain the body of the young woman that had made the mistake of trespassing in her domain.

so lost in her gluttony was she that the sound of further footsteps had avoided her notice until the sound of an unfamiliar voice caught her attention. grinning, she lifted her head and turned to face the newcomer.

"ah, so they've started sending you out in pairs now? perfect, I was almost finished with this one."

luna had taken one minute too long in there. at first, amber was willing to give the situation the benefit of the doubt that maybe she's simply taking her time carefully scouting out the area, but even when taking her thoroughness into consideration, this entire endeavour had taken far too long. amber knew it was time to follow her in there for backup.

shotgun in hand, amber burst through the door and quickly took a glance around only to be met with a horrifying sight: luna, completely mauled and drained of blood by the bloodsucker they came here to eliminate. the beast's mouth was dripping with blood as she slowly drained the life out of luna. amber's own cousin now laid dead on the ground, her life abruptly cut short by the brutality of the disgusing monster that had defeated her.

she had witnessed other hunters prematurely meet their end before at the hands of one of those things, but none had been her own family up until this point.

"what the fuck?!" she yelled without even thinking, mind entirely foggy as the overwhelming sense of grief and anger took complete control over her. unsurprisingly, this alerted the vampire to her presence.

without even hesitating or saying anything else, amber lifted the shotgun and took a shot at the beast. unfortunately, the anger that had overtaken her previously made her hands so shaky that she missed the shot entirely, putting her in a vulnerable position as she was forced to reload at a moment's notice.

"fuck..." the woman reached for more ammo, but the shakiness from the adrenaline rush and the pressure from the time constraint made her drop the shells to the ground. she had never found it this difficult to control her panic before. nothing she'd faced before could ever prepare her for losing family to a bloodsucker.

and now, she certainly became the creature's next target. though she had previously poisoned her blood, it was only enough to weaken the monster, not incapacitate her entirely. if she were to drink from amber, it would only give the hunter little time to react.

viper didn't feel like playing around with criminal organisations. she'd had a taste before and it had turned more than sour. but radar insisted that for the moment, they play nice with ruby's girls. she had recognised calico's pink hair from the moment that she'd entered the neon mire. it clearly wasn't her scene. she stuck out like a sore thumb down here with the chainsaw gang and other such aligned people.

she had sat next to her a few moments ago. she thought it was amusing that one could be so unaware of her surroundings as this. she figured at ruby's elysium, calico had never had to be worried about someone causing her problems.

"i was wondering when you might notice you had company." her lips curled up into a friendly smile. she gestured the bartender over and ordered herself a drink and then glanced expectantly over at the other.

"it was ghost's idea." she explained. radar didn't seem to have an awful lot of his own plans, they all seemed to be inspired or dictated by ghost. viper didn't care though. she got to make the explosives and got the thrill of watching part of her prison, diamond city, crumble.

"nobody knows the connection between the durare family and ravenheart, but clearly there is one." she shrugged a little. "hit them where it hurts and all, draw her out into the field, rather than hiding behind those seals of hers." viper rolled her eyes. it was all revenge for radar and didn't truthfully get them anything significant for their ideals. but it was one chip that would work with corpos off the board if ravenheart was dead.

"bet your miss ruby wishes that she'd had a hand in it. i've heard that she's trying to really start building herself up as better than ravenheart." viper said, looking amused.

calico nodded along as viper mentioned the attack was ghost's idea. she knew a lot about many people, but ghost had been a complete blind spot. this greatly piqued her curiosity about her. she needed to find out more.

"what do you know about ghost, anyway?" she had no idea of the extent of viper's knowledge about ghost, but it was worth asking them regardless. anytime calico had been faced with an unsolved mystery she would not rest until she had solved it and elusive people certainly fell into this category.

"how hard do you think she'll retaliate?" the woman questioned once viper explained what happened. "sure hope you guys are prepared for whatever they have in mind." not that she dobuted chainsaw's capabilites to defend themselves, but caution never hurt before.

"she is better." calico replied confidently. "she's the best thing that could've happened to this city. i'm sure we both agree ravenheart needed some open competition." the woman smiled as she added. she believed morals had no place in a city like this and that personal loyalty mattered more than anything else. and the subject of her loyalty was ruby. she admired how open and honest she'd been about her goals and didn't hide them like so many others.

calico briefly turned her head away from viper and at the bar as she wanted to examine the drinks on display. obviously no place would openly serve blood so she did her best to try and deduce which one of those drink names could be code for the suspicious red liquid, but none of them were ringing a bell.

"that all you serve here?" she inquired as she turned her attention back towards viper. the woman didn't mind waiting another few hours to be able to feed, but having something here could be nice.

thoughts on jia's humanity and morality:

the way jia reacted to being offered power at humanity 5 vs how she would've reacted at higher humanity levels is very different. currently, she isn't overly bothered about who or what this power comes from so long as her plans aren't negatively affected by it. she has reached a point where she knows that she has to be a little bit corrupt in order to have a voice within the camarilla and learning blood sorcery in the manner that she did very much falls into the morally questionable category.

she spent all of her kine years being constantly disrespected and pushed to the side so that other people around her might succeed in her stead. up until very recently she tried to be moral about gaining respect and genuinely felt bad for her wrongdoings, but that kind of isn't as strong anymore at this point. she'll still try to avoid being a sensless monster not because she particularly cares about causing harm, but because she's still concered about how others view her. she knows that being civilized is still very necessary and she also knows that being a malkavian means people will look for any reason to judge and mock her.

does she trust jason? absolutely not. she still very much despises the guy and knows he just wants other kindred under his control so she's making her plans accordingly. when the time is right, she will absolutely try to stab him in the back and overthrow him because she won't stand for being controlled by anyone in any way. for now, though, she'll pretend to play along and will wait for the perfect opportunity to strike.
