Marley chuckled as Jake challenged her, shaking her head in disbelief but she couldn’t argue with his antics and she knew him better than to try. There were plenty of things Marley wanted to forget, in the past week and just life in general and if she didn’t catch up a little Jake would likely start ranting and he was right….she’d likely knock him out. “Fine since you’re trying to show me up.” she smiled, her eyes going to mock horror as she just brought the bottle to her lips and knocked it back. The benefit of her power was at least there to keep the burn in her throat from bothering her, making the large gulps easier but she looked at Jake’s very determined eyes mid-drink and almost choked on a laugh, a small drip of tequila running down her chin as she set the bottle down. “Very lady-like….this behavior you’re requesting of me.” she joked, bringing her thumb up to swipe across her lower lip. “And drunk off my ass or not I’m still liable to knock you out, depending. Just don’t cry and don’t….if you try to fight me I must defend myself.” God she was ranting now and making declarations. “I will…claim self defense but please don’t hit me because I’ve already been stabbed and damsel in distress is not me, I am not damsel and there will be no distress. You….you you you could be the damsel though. I think if I hit you you could pull off damsel.” She laughed.

Jake giggled, scrunching up his face and banging his hands against the table. That last shot hadn't done him any favors but by this point he didn't have much space in his mind to care. "Lady-like you? I, yes I, could be a better lady than you." He placed his elbow on the table, slipping slightly but able to regain balance with ease. Leaning his face against his hands, he gave Marley a slight poke on her right shoulder. "Do you really think I be the damsel? I think you be the damsel. I have superpowers, I could blow you away like whoosh and away you'd be." He edged closer, towards Marley's ear, and lowered his voice to a harsh whisper. "I don't fight people really, I just blast out some air and away I run. I used to have fights with my friend, ugh that guy, but yeah since then I try to avoid it. It was a me and him thing ya know?" Jake collapsed into his seat, feeling his already watering eyes begin to get a little more hydrated. He nodded his head hoping the action would stop him from revisiting places he usually only thought about when he was alone. It's probably why he hated solitude so much. "More alcohol bartender!" He slapped his hand against the table again, only this time much harder. He snapped back his hand in retaliation to the force he'd hit with, leaving a painful sting on the palm of his hand.

Marley chuckled as Jake swayed slightly, his words becoming less lucid and she was trying to catch up but then if she did in fact catch up they were both likely to hit the floor and end up up knocked out. “Am I gonna have to play hero and save you from yourself?” Mare joked, bringing her glass to her lips to take a sip. “I’m glad you’re my friend too.”  She was trying to calm her element down, not allow it to counter the alcohol in her system but she was still struggling with that a little, leaning into the counter across from his as she listened to his slurring words, his eyes very honest and determined to voice how he felt about probably anything and everything and it made her smile widen. “I will call you surprised then but I have no problems with her.” she nodded honestly. “The gash in my thigh begs to differ.” she laughed, a continual nodding of her head with his words. “Just so you know, you’re gonna hit the floor before I do and it is not my fault.” she smiled, letting her head rest down to the warm wood counter as she swirled her glass in her hand. “This is why guys are easier to hang out with like this, they don’t cry the way most girls do. There’s three types of drunk girls, the ones who cry, the ones who try to fight and the one’s who turn into guys and start molesting the counters.  I prefer the ones who fight to be honest. Guys either rant or they fight or they just fall asleep. I can handle those things because those are the things I do.”

Jake reached for the small vodka bottle to his left, scraping its bottom against the wooden bar and stopping it in front of Marley. "Drink all of it. Come on we can have a drunken fight, rant at each other and the fall asleep. I don't really believe in either or's." His words weren't completely slurring not yet, but a few more drinks and he'd barely be able to understand himself. He needed to get her to catch up with him, and fast, before he ended up being the only one who wouldn't be able to remember tonight's events and to be honest he thought it would be nice not to have to worry about his misbehavior with the guard until at least mid-day. "If you don't drink up then I might have to resort to plain ol' fighting with you and you'll end up being alone for the rest of the night because you've knocked me out. You have to consider these things." He grabbed the tequila bottle and knocked some back. He didn't think about it really, it just seemed to emphasize the challenge somehow. Though his head wasn't exactly in the most accurate place of good judgement. He took the vodka in his hands again, this time lifting it and shaking it towards his friend, trying his best to use the glassiness of his tiring eyes to guilt her into taking his direction.

Marley fought back the burn in her eyes as Jake leaned closer to hug her. She hated that he felt he had to because she’d never want him to feel like that was his role. It wasn’t. It her responsibility to hold herself together, what she’d always done and she wasn’t the type to cry in moments of weakness. They just made her angry instead. “I’ll do my best not to kill you.” She muttered, hugging him back for a moment before he pulled back and regardless of her needing a friend in that moment…she was grateful for Jake. “If you die then I’ll have to kill someone and then I’d likely get killed and no bueno.” She smiled, nodding as he poured another drink for them both and she took her glass to down it quickly, not really caring if she ended up completely blacked out tonight, or any night for that matter. then again it was probably just the alcohol talking because on a normal day she cared more and right now she didn’t. “Bee? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that side of her and she’s been a really good friend to me. It’s more my fault than anything, what happened, and I’m woman enough to take the blame for it. It was my idea to go ghost hunting like some damn teenager and then the stabby bitch was pissed at me for…I don’t know….simply breathing. Might have called her a bitch a few times and that didn’t help.” She chuckled, wanting to change the subject for her sanity and Jake’s. “So what’s been bothering you Jake?” she smiled warmly, studying her friend. “Girls have good intuition about things like men’s heads being very busy and we’ve talked about me so…your turn.”

Jake turned his eyes to the shot glass in front of him, his cheeks glowing a shade of rose. "Nothing really. I'm just glad I have you as friend, that's all. If it weren't for you, I don't think my life would be all that interesting." It was true. He'd expected the island to be full of fun. A bunch of powerful people on the island experimenting, hanging out. It was a little disappointing to find out it was just like normal life, only without your family and nothing to aspire to. "Well you can call me surprised anyway, from what I know about that Bianca girl she isn't exactly my favorite person on the island. Neither is the bitch who stabbed you, but hey people don't shove knives into people just because they speak the truth." He poured another shot, knocking it back before he'd even put the bottle away. His head was beginning to feel a little fuzzy, his tongue loosening. He hoped Marely wouldn't be able to tel he was getting a bit drunk off of barely anything. God Jenkins, why'd you have be such a lightweight?

"Demon is the word Bianca used. She was attacked too but I don’t really know honestly. All I know is some blonde chick hiding out in the caves by the falls isn’t too happy with me." Marley clarified, shaking her head lightly but her eyes were honest on Jake’s. "I’m not hiding anything I just…..what am I supposed to do? Do yo want me to cry about it? It’s not like I can change it or anything and believe me….I would." Marley dropped her blue eyes to her glass, swirling the contents lightly before she took another drink. She thought being on this island would be a safe place for her, separate from the world that had hurt her so much, but the truth was that she was still scared here and it was having the few friends that she did that made her less scared. "I didn’t go to the hospital." she muttered. "I worked a little healing on my own and it’s fine." The last thing she wanted was one of her only friends thinking she’d willing go out and start a fight that would get her stabbed because that was complete bullshit. Who would want that? Maybe the best thing she could do was stay away from everyone that way no one she cared about could look at her the way Jake was right now.  She didn’t ask for any of it and her being blamed for something out of her hands just made her eyes burn because she felt like that. "Me and Bianca went out on a playful ghost hunt during the camp out and she came upon us and decided to entertain herself by torturing us a little." She admitted. "Blaming me is like blaming any other victim being attacked. Did the victim ask for it and is the victim’s fault for trying to defend themselves? I don’t want to be a victim and I’m not but that doesn’t make me the instigator."

Jake leaned across the table and wrapped his arms tightly around her. He didn't want to be her rock, he really didn't, but it didn't mean he wouldn't be there at all. "You'll be the death of me Marley Nolan, I swear you will." He gave her a reassuring smile as he loosed his grip and returned to his seat. "Let's just forget about stabby chick who lives in the hills and is gonna give me nightmares shall we, how about some tequila?" He took the bottle and poured it into the large shot glasses. The atmosphere was tense, he hated it. Jake didn't do well in times of emotional turmoil. All he could do was hope that the alcohol was enough to ease Marley's pain. "Bianca? Isn't Bianca that really obnoxious girl who thinks she's Beyonce or some other form of Goddess? Why were you with her?" Jake scrunched his face as he recalled the unpleasantness of meeting her. He already disliked her, but since she had led his friend into an almost life-or-death situation, he didn't think he could stand to even be in her vicinity.

With a single arm wrapped tightly around her waist, Summer kept her eyes strictly to the ground as the sound of every drop of rain hitting the ground soothed her nerves. Today was just one of those days that she needed more than anything. Instantly, her privacy was invaded as the contact of another startled her with the result of a dropped umbrella. “Oh—” She took a quick step back to see a slightly familiar face due to their circle of friends being within the same pool. “Y-you’re fine.” Her nerves taking over her speech as she bent down to pick up the umbrella. “I seemed to be in the same boat. My thoughts getting the best of me.” She gave a soft laugh of reassurance as she finally remembered the boy’s name. “Jake, right?”

"Yeah... have we met?" Jake's head was too all over the place to recall names, though her face seemed fairly familiar. He could vaguely remember being at a party with her, or maybe a few. Suddenly he felt embarrassed that he'd never noticed her, especially considering she was the sort of girl who captured someones attention. He guessed he was too busy thinking about Brooklyn to notice. Saying that it had been a while since he'd thought of her too. His mind was too focused on... other things.

Summer hesitated as she brought her umbrella over her head to continue walking down the trail. She took a deep breath as the rain and silence around her helped clear her mind.

Jake wasn't paying much attention to where he was going. His paranoia since the camping trip incident as he was now calling it was growing thicker by the day. The guards seemed to give him shifty looks, as if they knew something. Though he was probably looking rather suspicious - he never was good at concealing his emotions. He was pondering this when he bumped into the blonde, knocking the umbrella out of her hands. "I'm so, so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going, I'm... I'm sorry."

At least I'm hilarious, that guy on the phone hasn't got an ounce of funny in him. Trust me, like the fifth time I called him I just spurted jokes and he didn't get a single one of them. I was little bit offended actually.

Persistence works. Threats work better, which is probably what the government are using to ensure we don't get through. How badly do you need to get through?

"It’s a Bar & Grill, actually, so it’s kinda of a given that there’s additive-ridden food products though I’m not sure they go to such extremes as to lock them in a trunk." Marley smiled, ducking her head to let her eyes search the shelves beneath the counter, mostly extra bottles so she didn’t have to go the the stock room in the middle of a busy night but she smiled and reached for a bag of cheese puffs and a package of chocolate chip cookies. "I’m not sure who’s these are but they’re ours now." she beamed, slapping them up on top of the counter with a proud smirk. "Mm no. I don’t break in. If you remember I brought the original bottle from the campsite because I bought and the second bottle, if we even need it, I’m more than willing to pay for too. It’s also not breaking in if I have keys." Marley pointed out, arching an eyebrow and bringing her glass to her lips for another drink. It’d been a long few days during the camp out and her system was tired from it all.  She couldn’t feel an inkling of her element and she didn’t even try to focus on it so the alcohol burned hotter through her veins. "Jake Jenkins bonding time? I was actually under the impression that this was ‘Marley Nolan drink: away your cares so you don’t have to think about the fact that you were stabbed by a lunatic demon’ time." She chuckled, taking another drink to polish off her glass before she set it down to the counter so she could pour another. "We’re gonna have to our stories straight, Jenkins."

Jake's jaw dropped, his eyes burning into Marley's. "I'm sorry, did you just say you got stabbed by a demon? I didn't even know those things were real let alone stabbing people. What the hell? Why didn't you tell me this before? You've been to the hospital right because I don't want to catch any nasty infection? Right? You've been?" He awaited her answer with a fiery expectation. He knew Marley loved to make a stir, it's one of the reasons he loved having her around, but this was something completely unexpected and she dropped it on him like she was talking about chicken. He chugged back some of the alcohol from the bottle, preparing himself for whatever story she was about to tell him. Marley Nolan was bad news; maybe she didn't intend to be, but as long as he knew her he was always going to be subjected to something dangerous. For tonight he didn't care, but maybe that was just the alcohol talking.

Grabbing two glasses behind her Marley chuckled with Jake’s words. “I don’t need a keeper and you certainly wouldn’t be able to keep up with me or my antics. Out of your league, Love.” she teases, pouring them each a drink and if she’d learned anything in the last few days it was how to tell her element to sit the Hell down and let her get drunk for a few hours with a friend. The last time hadn’t gone so well and she could still feel the deep aches in her body from everything that had happened and she didn’t want to feel anything anymore, certainly not pain. Her free hand went to rub lightly into the back of her neck as she leaned into the counter across from Jake, swirling her glass and bringing it to her lips for a long drink as she soothed her muscles but she still laughed and had to swallow quickly before she could answer him. “I can easily decimate this entire liter. You might need your own liter.” she smiled, reaching behind her on the counter to grab a spare bottle just in case and a knife so she could slice through the lime, bringing a small wedge to suck on lightly before she pulled of her cherry candy from her pocket. “We need more junk food because we’re gonna get hungry.” she stated, a thoughtful crinkle forming between her eyes as she took another drink.

"This is a bar, you're telling me there isn't a stash of additive-ridden food products locked in a trunk somewhere? Well now I'm just disappointed. My illusion of this place has been completely shattered." Jake took the shot swiftly, grimacing from its bitter taste. He left the lime untouched, he wasn't keen on the taste of citrus. Well that and he wanted to look like he didn't need it. He wasn't a light-weight, but he knew he wasn't a heavy drinker either - at some point he was going to more worse for wear than his friend and when that time came he at least wanted to look like he'd been more careless with his intake. "So do you always break into this place and steal all the alcohol, or is the bar just a place reserved for some quality Jake Jenkins bonding time?" He cocked his head to the side, a playful glimmer circling his eyes.

The retreat went better than she’d hoped, the guards too busy flailing in the water to notice them and every guard nearby would have gone to offer them assistance in getting out and they reached the back of the bar Marley pulled her keys from her pocket to unlock the door. Being out in the open would be risky and she held the door open with a laugh. “I seriously don’t know what they expect being on a damn island with all of us.” she chuckled. “It’s like babysitting and expecting not to get thrown-up on or have to deal with tantrums though…in our case super powers.” Marley smiled, letting the door close behind them and walking across the space of the bar towards the counter. She was happy to not be outside anymore, the last few days making her tired of the smell of campfires and she smiled over at Jake now. “Hey you wanted the law enforcement position so I say you should apply and show them how to do their job. Though….you’ll just be chasing me all day when I get restless and decide to mess with you.” she winked, twisting the cap off the bottle of tequila and grabbing a lime from a small basket on the inside counter.

This was the second time that Jake had entered the empty bar but the first that he felt comfortable in its spaciousness. "I think they think they're too cool for school with their cigarettes and their fancy outfits. Wait until I fulfill my dream, I'll show them how it done. I'll just be your designated babysitter because you're too troublesome to be left alone." He sat at the edge of the bar, the same position he'd taken up last time and waited for Marley to pour him a drink. He thought about whether they'd be returning to the campsite, but he doubted it. The booths looked comfortable enough to sleep on anyway. He'd rather just sit with Marley and have a few drinks and then a few more, at least for tonight. He could always return to the others the next day, ready to tell them of his little adventure from tonight. "So how much alcohol do you think one person can consume in one sitting? I think we should wage a bet."
