roathes entire thing being "can the orokin be forgiven" is for lack of better words, fucking stupid because we already have daughter/kaelli.
the orokin who we actually see go through deconstructing and changing her worldview? who we actually see learn and grow? who does actual work to change things? like her relationship to kahl and the rest of the garrison is one based in her unlearning everything she was raised as?
and kahl goes through deconstructing too - he was born and raised to be nothing but cannon fodder and to love and obey his queens. and while modern day grineer are different than the ones during the reign of the orokin empire, to kaelli they're the same and serve the same purpose, because that's how she was raised.
kaelli is arrogant and demeaning towards kahl and his brothers. she constantly insults them and treat them like less. but kahl gets to directly confront her whenever she acts like an asshole. when she speaks down to him and his brothers, he calls her out on her behavior. he insists on their personhood and individuality. he constantly challenges her worldview.
Kaelli: "Kahl. Are you sulking? Don't be a child."
Kahl: "Kahl not know 'sulk'. Kahl busy planning. Brothers need Kahl."
Kaelli: "Yes, well, I'm bored."
Kahl: "Not everyone get to be bored. Kahl 'filthy clone'. Built to kill. Built to die. Kahl want to not be slave, to free brothers, he need to plan. To work. Maybe die. You want clown? Find other Kahl. Orokin made plenty."
Kaelli: [scoff] "Kahl, how da—" [comms channel shuts off]
and while she often gets defensive when called out, she actually begins to work through the things he points out and begins to change for the better.
she goes from referring to them all as a bunch of "filthy clones", seeing them as nothing but "vat-rats" and being ashamed over her connection to the garrison.
to slowly understanding that grineer are more than just cloned soldiers born to obey and fight, how kahl and his brothers, despite being clones, are individuals, are their own people, and she becomes part of the garrison.
obviously she still has work left. but with her we actually see her work through the bias, prejudice and sense of superiority she was raised with by being born into the orokin class, and change how she treats the people that were previously considered below her.
but i forgot, shes a woman, not a sexily evil white man so that's not interesting at all.
anyway, there's a lot of good exchanges between them in drifters camp, i really like one of the later ones:
Kahl: "Blue Girl. Narmer veil make brothers love Pazuul. Kahl know that. But Kahl not know why brothers still love Queens. Why?"
Kaelli: "You can't change anyone, Kahl. Try and go mad. If you're lucky, you can help those who want to change. Everyone else is a lost cause."
Kahl: "Does Blue Girl want change?"
Kaelli: "What, exactly, are you suggesting?"
Kahl: "Hm. Fancy talk about rich old family. Empire. Orokin. But rich old Orokin family empire? [spits] Dust. This new world now. Kahl think Blue Girl want to be part of new world. That why she help Kahl make it. Kahl want to… help… Blue Girl. If Blue Girl want help?"
Kaelli: "I… I have to go."
