Oggi, 25 aprile - Festa della Liberazione

L'anniversario della liberazione d'Italia (anche chiamato festa della Liberazione, anniversario della Resistenza o semplicemente 25 aprile) è una festa nazionale della Repubblica Italiana che ricorre il 25 aprile di ogni anno.

È un giorno fondamentale per la storia d'Italia ed assume un particolare significato politico e militare, in quanto simbolo della vittoriosa lotta di resistenza militare e politica attuata dalle forze partigiane durante la seconda guerra mondiale a partire dall'8 settembre 1943 contro il governo fascista della Repubblica Sociale Italiana e l'occupazione nazista.

It is a national celebration day, a very important one as it is the symbol of the winning battle fought by the partisans partigiani (and called Resistenza) to free Italy from the Regime and the Nazi occupation throughout the WWII.

April 25th is the day in which the CLNAI (Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale Alta Italia = Committee for the Liberation of Northern Italy) proclaimed the insurrection of all the Partisans in the Northern areas that were still under the Nazis’ control. “To give up or die” was the sentence that they started telling the opponents since that day. On May 1st (and around it) the whole Northern Italy had been finally liberated and that meant 20 years long domination of the NaziFascism + 5 years of war were finally over for real. It all actually became official on May 2nd, as stated in the “resa di Caserta” signed on April 29th by all parties.

April 25th is a symbolic date: it’s considered the day in which the Resistenza movement had its culmination, its chiefs took control and carried Italy to June 2nd 1946 (important date as we had the Monarchy VS Republic public vote), to the Repubblica Italiana and the creation of the Costituzione, our Repubblica’s law.
