Very dangerous.Ā
I have actually! (also his last name is Bramble :) ) He gave me a plant and I went to his house, and he has such a lovely garden!Ā and cactus cat. How did you two meet?
He gave you a plant? I canāt say Iām not jealous. We met online, but weāve met in person once too. How about you? Do all plant lovers just know about each other?
Thank you! Iām quite proud of my languages, if Iām honest. Can I ask what your job is?
Nothing to be ashamed of. I would be too. I bartend at The Watering Hole.
I am a very confident person. Awesome. Welcome aboard, I guess. Iām Saskia, by the way.
I can tell. Thanks, Iām Clark. So what do you do when youāre not plotting world domination?
Not for me, it doesnāt. Like, Iām always conscious of what I say.
That could work! Consider me your first viewer.
Like youāre the type to sit there and delete the same sentence three times before sending it?
Or theyāre working for the CIAāĀ Yeah, what a waste that is⦠Spend all your time going through a system to become the very best you can only for your skills and talents to go to waste somewhere. If theyāre lucky, they might be successful, but that doesnāt always seem to be the case for the majority.
Are you living the dream? Or your kind of dream? Is bartending fulfilling?
Just for the system to place you in an average position. Itās just all fake to me.
I donāt know what theĀ dream is, but Iām having fun. And how about yourself, Mr. Officer?
reedhan replied to your post ā[pm] Your alibi was cleared, by the way, but you won't be hearing from...ā
[pm] Okay, listen, Sarcancelot, what's up? Am I on "Asshole" Adrien's level now?
[pm] Not quite. Right now youāre just an annoyance.
Well maybe the two that got ranks ahead of you are probably miserable, who knows.
Probably. I mean I love where Iām at now and theyāre probably sitting in cubicles somewhere waiting for it to turn 5 oāclock so they can go home to their boring lives.
Phone @ Clark
Reed: Alright, thank you. Where were on the night of June 18, between 7:45 and 8:20? And who can we contact to confirm your whereabouts that evening?
Clark: What day was the 18th? Probably at the bar, though. And you can ask anyone.
I love languages. I find them easy to learn too so itās not too much of a stretch to know so many for me.
I just canāt even comprehend having 30 languages stored in my brain. Thatās really impressive.
[pm] Your alibi was cleared, by the way, but you won't be hearing from me anymore regarding any update on the investigation. Probably some new guy.
[pm] Obviously it cleared. Oh wow Iām beyond devastated.Ā
I think it was less the speed and more that the person I was with actually wanted to see me super drunk. So yea. I learned my lesson with that one let me tell you.
Iām studying to be and Ecology and Environmental Science major. Which is just basically a fancy term for I like plants and want to have a job when i graduate.Ā
Oh yeah that can be dangerous. I bet.
Thatās awesome. Plants are cool. Have you met Oakley (Iām not sure of his last name now that I think about it), but he loves plants and has like millions of them.
What do you get? That Iāve traveled to Australia and ridden a cockroach after I tamed it with the power of love?
Yeah, thatās exactly what I was hinting at. Youāre incredibly perceptive.
I will look into it for you.
Oh yes! I speak over 30 languages.
Holy shit. I can barely manage one...
Phone @ Clark
Reed: Okay, Mr. Wade. Why do you wish Adrien disappeared?
Clark: I don't like the guy. He pissed me off and now he's on some mission to annoy the shit out of me. Once again, it was mostly an expression.
Just testing the watersāĀ Are you easily envious? Or aggressive? It was pretty rude of me but I guess my intention was to find out your reactionāĀ I wasnāt thinking, Iām sorry. That was pretty very insensitive.
Ah, but now Iām curious. Whatās in the past is in the past and the shit sounds like a very interesting story.Ā
Have you kept in touch with the first two people or bothered to see what theyāre up to? Maybe see if their lives are shittier? Because, you know, karmaā¦.
Yeah.
Of course you are. Like you said, itās in the past so Iām keeping it there. No, actually. I kind of ghosted everyone from high school, but now that you bring it up I am kind of curious.
Fairly Local || Clark&Reza
Reza wasnāt sure heād seen anyone smile that wide since⦠he couldnāt really remember since when and the borderline Cheshire grin was somewhere between invigorating and annoying. Mostly annoying but less so after Reza had downed that second shot. Really, it was almost fascinating that the gleeful face didnāt crack in two. Despite himself, Reza actually found a smile creeping onto his own face. Barely visible, but still there. He blamed the booze. And the smile was mostly self-deprecating because really, this night couldnāt get any worse. Even though he was drinking with an almost complete stranger and knowing this town, the guy could just as well be a flesh eating monster. Maybe if he got eaten, Reza wouldnāt have to face the shame of returning to the apartment later on.
Taken back by the sudden burst of laughter, Reza blinked at Clark, hand halting where it had been reaching for the third and final shot. He could already sense how much he was going to regret all that vodka tomorrow. Clarkās theatrics probably would have made Reza laugh if it hadnāt been for the bursting statement and the fact that heād just assumed Clark to be straight because that was much, much safer. Hanging out with a grinning, sociable and good looking guy was shady enough but when that guy also liked guys? The thought filled him to the brim with guilt, dimmed by the third shot being poured down his throat. Fine. Heād go have a smoke with Clark after this and then go straight home. Or maybe take a walk for a few hours and then go home. Yeah, that was definitely a plan.Ā
āOh,ā came the reply to Clarkās amused announcement, finally, the single syllable somehow managing to be so ridiculously awkward. Damn it. The subject of vampires seemed much safer and Reza was relieved that Clark wasnāt one of those idiots with his head in the sand. Did that mean that Clark wasnāt human, either? And if so, what was he? Would he answer honestly if Reza asked? Probably not.Ā
The sixth and final shot vanished and brown eyes trailed after it with envy, even as Rezaās stomach quietly objected to the abuse and his vision blurred just so.Ā āNot all vampires,ā Reza found himself objecting, instantly protective over the non-crazy vampires he knew. Sure, a lot of them were⦠eccentric, but nothing like that insane and overly sexual girl from before.Ā āBut that one was fucking insane.ā Licking his lips, grimacing at the lingering taste from the shots, Rezaās eyes trailed over the crowd and towards the doors, hand already moving towards the smokes in his jean pocket. Tentatively, his eyes moved back to watch Clark.Ā
āI really need that smoke now.ā
Once theyād shouldered their way back through the crowd, slipping past people laughing loudly and gyrating hips, Reza was grateful to breathe in the cold, evening air.Ā āFuck,ā he sighed, unsteady hands instantly pulling out the pack of cigarettes as he sidled away from the entrance of the club, pointedly not paying too much attention to Clark. Looking inside the tattered pack, Reza contemplated just grabbing a normal cigarette but his fingers were pulling out the rolled up joint sitting between them before heād even made a decision. Not like it would surprise Clark, seeing as Reza had already been outed as a drug dealer or whatever.Ā āWant a normal one orā¦?ā Reza trailed off, joint hanging from between his lips as he dug around for his lighter, holding out the pack to Clark with his other hand. Part of him kinda hoping Clark would say no and prefer a hit from the joint.Ā
Usually blinded by his own cheerfulness, Clark never really picked up on anyone elseās emotions. Itās not that he wasnāt good at it; it was more like he wasnāt concerned with it. He could read into what people were saying easily, but when it came to their feelings he didnāt bother. If someone was being negative in anyway, he usually just ignored it and pushed on with his strong personality. He just assumed everyone was always having a good time like him. That was definitely happening tonight. Anyone else could see that Reza was uninterested, or at the very least uncomfortable, with the current situation, but Clark kept pressing on. Besides, he could swear he saw the hint of a smile playing on the otherās face.
āYup,ā Clark replied, gliding past Rezaās awkward exclamation.Ā āNo worries, most people donāt expect it, which is kinda funny to me. Except when a guy Iām into doesnāt expect it. Then it just makes getting with him more challenging. But thatās also kind of fun.ā Alcohol had a tendency to make Clark, who was already quite the talker, ramble on and on. Clearly, it didnāt have the same effect on Reza, who had just taken his final shot and was still as quiet as a mouse until he spoke up about vampires.Ā āAlright, yeah, I guess not all of them. But a lot of the ones Iāve met are just really wild. Iām glad weāre on the same page with that girl, though. She was fucking wild.ā
Reza announced his need for a cigarette, which Clark was glad about. He could use the fresh air after being in bars all night. The duo pushed through the crowd, simultaneously stepping on people and getting stepped on themselves.Ā āJesus Christ,ā Clark said, mostly to himself as they finally broke through the exit into the night. He watched curiously as Reza pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. The whole concept of smoking was so strange to Clark. The thought of having to smoke one every few hours was unsettling. Really, the thought of being controlled by anythingĀ was terrifying. His gaze lingered on the pack as Reza pulled out not the smooth, white cylinder of a cigarette, but the crumpled paper of a rolled up joint and put it to his lips. Now that was something that didnāt terrify Clark in the least. He didnāt smoke weed that often, but ever since high school he enjoyed the occasional partaking. āNah Iāll take theĀ ānot normalā one,ā he answered, pushing away the carton of cigs and glancing at the joint neatly tucked between Rezaās lips.
Clark leaned back against the wall as he waited his turn. Realizing he hadnāt checked his phone all night, he pulled it out of his pocket. There werenāt any texts, but he checked the time. 1:45 AM. The night was still young and Clark had no intention of ending it this early.Ā āSo, what are your plans after this?ā He asked with hope that he could either join him or make plans with him. What Clark really wanted was to see what he was like in another environment. There was definitely still more to the guy than a lava field or a sprawling club allowed for.
