So after getting the Steven Universe I found a concept drawing of what the Earth Beetle would look like if she were to be healed and I fell in love with her design so much so that I had to draw her. Admittedly I have changed her design a tad, swapping in the correct gem shape and changing the hair shape to make her a little easier to draw (I’m bound to draw her again in the future, so it’s easier for me and it’ll still probably change). I know the back ground is awful but it looked terrible on just a plain white canvas, That and it’s a bit of practice for me (I was tired and I fudged it) I’ll fix it later.

Australia’s reverse-formality respect culture is fascinating. We don’t even really think about it until we try to communicate or learn about another culture and the rules that are pretty standard for most of the world just feel so wrong. I went to America this one time and I kept automatically thinking that strangers using ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am’ were sassing me. 

Australians could not be trusted with a language with ingrained tiers of formal address. The most formal forms would immediately become synonyms for ‘go fuck yourself’ and if you weren’t using the most informal version possible within three sentences of meeting someone they’d take it to mean you hated them.

You can’t tell how old a kid is just by looking. I’ve known multiple 5th graders who were taller than I am, and I’m 25 years old. With their faces hidden by masks, you won’t be able to tell they’re elementary schoolers, but they still are. 

Lots of older siblings are expected to take their younger siblings trick-or-treating, and they only get paid in candy. 

You don’t know if that teenager is developmentally disabled. 

You don’t know if that teenager spent most of their childhood in a hospital or sick and has never had the traditional trick-or-treat experience before.

You don’t know if this is that teenager’s first Halloween in America, and they just want to experience a piece of American culture.

You don’t know if that teenager ever gets candy any other day of the year. 

You don’t know if that teenager has eaten anything at all today.
