Phew! I hope everyone enjoys this one! Now if youâll excuse me, Iâve got some rambling to do!
This comic is all about Ralsei and Krisâs complex relationship. It follows them through their unseen interactions during the âclose your eyesâ scenes of chapters 1 through 3. The goal of this comic is for these inter-spliced scenes to be able to be read as one flowing âconversationâ which characterizes the whole of their relationship, but also for you to be able to read only the panels of each specific scene and be able to read a complete conversation between them there as well, which characterizes the state of their relationship at that point. Iâm sure that, if we ever learn what these conversations were about, that theyâre probably not really like this at all, but Iâm less focused on theory crafting than using these moments where the two no longer have to act a certain way for the player or other characters and are able to speak plainly together to illustrate their complicated situation. Ralsei in Chapter 1 coming on too strong with his, âjust be a good guy!â Talk, (not unlike how he did with susie,) then in chapter 2, having spent more time with his friends, expressing his care for them, and in chapter 3 being more understanding because of their growing friendship⊠only for that to be undercut by the betrayal after a victory against the knight.

So, yeah, elephant in the room, this comic considers Kris Slash theory (aka They Slash Them theory) as canon. I know itâs kind of a controversial one, but I really like it at least. I hope this comic has expressed how I find it narratively intriguing and reflective of the characters. Maybe its not for you but Iâm not really here to persuade anyone or make a case for it, just to use it :)
Anyways, I love these two so much and Iâm so happy to be able to work on a project all about their melodrama. With Susie and the player around, they play the roles of team mates, as simple as that, but theyâre both harboring secrets that only the other truly understands. Kris as an ever increasingly regretful double agent, Ralsei who is desperate to avoid to disaster that Kris is going about causing but unsure if he believes he even can. Still, is that âactâ just an act? Or is it real in a way? Theyâre just two kids who are doomed, who have been made to pursue that doom by outside forces, who have been made into adversaries because of it, and yet who canât help but care about each other anyways because when theyâre together (as well as with susie) theyâre able to forget about their doom for just a moment. Ughhh my heart!
