Brainstorm knows somewhat of the pain that Chromedome is going through, what he has gone through from the loss of his three Conjunx Endura. While he had a “crush” rather than a relationship, Quark is barely remembered by anyone but Brainstorm.

And what happens if your signifigant other just forgets you? Then they are truly forgotten.

Brainstorm knew what was coming when Pivot died, and tried to steer Chromedome away. Then he tried again when Mach fell.

He does not mention having “the talk” after Scattergun’s death.

Can it be that he had given up on Chromedome when it was Scattergun’s turn?

I think the order of CE’s deaths could be inverse. I mean Brainstorm hadn’t known yet that exactly Chromedome did with himself by reasons of grief when Scattergun dead.
