Chimney Cakes! A Hungarian tradition - being baked in the traditional way over coals at the Budapest Zoo. Then later in the evening at a street vendor stuffed with Nutella. These have a bready and lightly sweet thing going for them. Somewhat akin to a US soft pretzel, although less buttery, somewhat lighter of texture, and sweeter in taste. At the zoo these were being made traditionally, dough wrapped on a wooden cylinder, turned over coals and moved closer to the heat source at they baked. Then they were knocked off the cylinder with something that looks like a child's wooden sword - into a large wooden bowl to be topped with cinnamon sugar, shredded coconut, or cocoa. Incredibly delicious and definitely a crowd favorite as the line only grew throughout the day and everywhere I turned families were sharing these.
