OF COURSE!! Working on it rn >:)
b0rr0w!ng haul from summer break >_<
Made this edit of Elias and Chise from The Ancient Magus Bride / Maho Tsukai no Yome because they are just so frickin cute together, I can't even anymore!!! Love their complex, yet wholesome dynamic together and wish to see more of them in the future ā¤ļø
The song is called Blush by Ha Vay and I love her sm because she has a lot of cool songs that fit Chise and Elias' vibe, and Blush's lyrics were very much perfect for this edit of mine lol
(Bit of a rant)
I love Chise Hatori x Elias Ainsworth, and if they ever did consummate there marriage in the future, I would be fine with it as long as itās initiated by Chise first, and they are both emotionally mature with Chise being around twenty-five or so. The thing is, that isnāt my focus. While I do think about it, I donāt do anything weird. I would honestly rather see a canon adult version of Chise before anything like that. If that never happens I'm fine with it because not everything is about sex! holy shit.
I love them together, but they are still far from ready for romance. Elias didnāt even understand what marriage actually was, and that was very apparent in the manga. One thing Iāve noticed about this fandom, especially back between 2016 and 2018, is that everyone was so freaky in it. Some people would sexualize Chise even though sheās a minor, which is completely disgusting and gross. I donāt care how many people try to justify that.
Some even made rape fantasy stuff, and of course youāre going to get that type of thing because there are weird people on the internet. That doesnāt mean I have to be fine with it. If anything, Iām disgusted by it. If you can take Elias Ainsworthās character and headcanon him as a rapist, I find you disgusting. How are you going to mischaracterize him into something that vile and depraved?
He isnāt a pervert. He isnāt a rapist. I donāt believe he preys on Chise at all. He also isnāt some āinnocent cinnamon roll.ā Heās a complex character who happens to be very attractive, but that isnāt all he is. He has so much depth, itās crazy.
Let me list a few things.
1. His emotional naivety and curiosity about the world.
He doesnāt understand his emotions whatsoever. He studies humans like a scientist studying a new species. When he expresses to Chise that he doesnāt know what a certain feeling is, itās genuine and not detached. His journey is to learn empathy, morals, boundaries, and love , things that come naturally to humans but not to him.
2. His power versus his restraint.
He isnāt weak. If anything, heās incredibly powerful. Heās ancient and capable of doing horrible things, but heās also childlike in how he handles that power. An example of this is when he threw a tantrum out of jealousy over Chise, or when he tried to sacrifice Stella because he was scared of losing her. Sometimes he lashes out when heās jealous or confused, not because heās evil, but because he hasnāt learned how to process emotions in a healthy way. His monstrous side and his gentle side are constantly in tension.
3. His identity and self-loathing.
He doesnāt truly know his origins or what exactly he is. He desires to belong, but he never truly can. This makes him lonely and dependent, especially on Chise. He often confuses love with possession or safety, which isnāt healthy, but I believe heās getting better. Heās learning, and so is Chise, so that they can eventually have a fully healthy relationship.
4. His intelligence and ignorance.
He isnāt some stupid idiot who should be babied. Heās incredibly smart and knowledgeable, but completely ignorant of the social and emotional parts of life.
5. His growth through Chise.
Chise is like a mirror that forces him to see whatās missing in himself and grow as a person. Through Chiseās pain and healing, he learns compassion and mutual care instead of ownership and curiosity.
His relationship with Chise is complex. It isnāt romantic early on, and even now, itās still more about emotional development. I hate when people dumb him down with labels that completely miss the point of his character. Calling him an āinnocent cinnamon rollā or a āhot himbo daddyā pisses me off. The first one annoys me so much, and the second one just tells me you donāt actually like his character , you just reduce him to being attractive.
And of course heās attractive, Iād hit, but heās so much more than that.
Part 2 of rant coming soon ??? Maybe??
Can we talk about Elias Ainsworth's giraffe tongue for a minute?
We know that Elias does *not* understand all that it means to have a wife. He doesn't have the same sexual appetites that humans (or even other fey) typically have. Incidentally, that's one of the things I LOVE the most about this show. It focuses on friendship and some romance without jumping straight to sexual, and it's so refreshing.
But I also think about how their relationship will naturally progress as they both mature, and I think these scenes might be a clue to that. I believe these licks are the closest thing to sexual attraction that Elias experiences; at least at this point in his relationship with Chise.
Yes, first and foremost, he is healing her. She seems to stop bleeding as soon as his saliva touches her cuts. But we've also seen how the fey are attracted to the smell and taste of her blood. They crave it. We've seen Elias outright drooling over her when she slept in his bed. All fey are attracted to her, but his attraction to her is also coupled with a strong emotional attachment.
I don't think these licks when she's bleeding are only benefitting her, I think they're also feeding his desire for her. It's not exactly sexual, but I think it's the closest approximation to human arousal that Elias experiences. Honestly, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be seen by the viewer as a little spicy. He's not just cleaning off the blood or applying some liquid bandaid to her. He's giving her a rough, lingering, tongue bath. He's *savoring* her.
I'd love to hear him describe what he's physically experiencing when he's licking her. His emotions are a mix of worry and protectiveness when she's hurt, so he might not even be aware of his own visceral response as much as usual, but I'd bet it's still there and it probably feels like thirst to him. She seems to be getting acclimated to the sensation, too.
I wonder if this may later become a way that he expresses affection for her when their relationship becomes more intimate. She kisses his face now, but he can only nuzzle her in return. Which, don't get me wrong, the way he nuzzles her is so precious and wholesome, I can't get enough of it. But one day, if he wants to be able to *kiss* her back without using a glamour to disguise himself as a human, I can't imagine any other method of him doing so. I'm not talking about frenching her, I just mean a little lick to the cheek or the neck like he does in the second clip. I think it might be a good way to depict something a little more spicy than a nuzzle, but not overly spicy for a show rated for mid-teens.
And yeah, obviously, there are more sensual applications for that tongue of his when they do get to a point where they are ready to consumate their "marriage", but those will be left to the viewers' imaginations. I know the fanfic writers are already all over that.
Reaching Season 2 of the Ancient Magus' Bride only to find out the "bride" part was the most fucking wholesome part of the entire relationship.
Elias Ainesworth thought a bride meant a best friend.
-dies from wholesomeness-
No human concept of what a bride is.
So fitting for an eldritch entity.
Chise, please kiss every single one of his exposed teeth.
and they switch it up every couple episodes. riveting stuff
Some people might label the relationship between Chise Hatori and Elias Ainsworth as "grooming." However, I strongly disagree. The anime itself frames their relationship as a form of mentorship a story of mutual growth, learning, and understanding together. Here are my reasons.
When Rahab first explained marriage to Elias, she did not explain that marriage implies romance or sex. Elias then interprets "marriage" as a promise of lifelong companionship, more like friendship or family than a romantic union. His proposal to Chise reflects that misunderstanding, especially since it is clear in the first episode that he has no idea what he is talking about, rather than being an attempt to take advantage of her.
Elias cannot truly grasp human emotions or their impact. He is not portrayed as a sexual predator, and I will stand by that. In fact, when he tried to kill Stella and sacrifice her, it was out of jealousy and fear of losing Chise. This demonstrates his monstrous ignorance and immaturity, not a deliberate pattern of manipulation or "grooming."
Elias Ainsworth behaves like a petulant, arrogant child rather than an adult seeking control. His relationship with Chise is complex but not sexual. Most of the plot revolves around both of them learning boundaries, empathy, and what an actual healthy relationship is.
Chise, although vulnerable at the start, makes her own decisions throughout the story. She sets boundaries and challenges Elias, while developing her own identity. This active growth contrasts sharply with the passivity seen in real grooming situations.
In conclusion, Chise and Elias are two flawed characters struggling to understand human bonds. The narrative treats Eliasās behavior as something he must change, while Chise grows stronger and more independent. Their relationship is about growth and understanding, not exploitation.
