The Crew Dragon Demo-2 mission launches from Cape Canaveral, May 30, 2020.
Sucess is like juggling some balls. Your ball is one of many a performer may juggle. The other balls belong to other people. The right hand is a mentor, in whatever form it may be, and the left hand is kindness. Now there are many tricks you can juggle, but for now I will tell you of four.
When you toss a single ball into the air, it will rise only to fall. It rose alone, and fell alone, and will lay on the ground alone unless it is picked up once more.
When a ball rises and is continually pushed forward by many hands, it will rise infinitely and leave those who gift without thanks behind.
When a ball is placed on the ground and left to its own devices, it will soon be lost.
When a ball is juggled, one will rise from mentorship towards greatness, and soon return to kindness so all may rise. You see, in order for someone to be truly successful, one must return a portion of wealth back towards those beginning their journey, and they in return unto you.
Possessing wealth is like owning marbles. You will always lose some, but you are sure to find new ones in the future. No matter how few you have, you can still have fun. If you have none, have faith, for through hard work you are sure to find more. If you have too many, the marbles will fill and spill out of your deepest pockets, and you cannot pick them up unless you let go of what you have now. Always share with anyone willing to play, and they will play with you when you are most lonely.

Dr. McCollum: Pursuing an Ideal Career
In the year of 1962, at Mercer Island High School, the forth graduating class received their diplomas. Among these students was my interviewee, Dr. McCollum. Dr. McCollum is a very respectable person to this day, thanks to his career built on building his pursuit of his passions through methods of skill and determination; that was just as respectable. From tennis to service in the United States Air Force, Dr. McCollum inspires many with his motivating charisma. This is the story of Dr. McCollum’s pursuit of an ideal career.
Such a career is built on passion. Dr.McCollum’s is tennis. Such a simple sport, but so enjoyable: tennis can be merely a group of friends hitting a ball back and forth. SMACK! SMACK! With every hit, your concerns, your fears, and your doubts are put out of mind. SMACK! SMACK! The ball zooms towards your opponent. SMACK! SMACK! The sound of the ball as it collides with the bracket can bring ease to the mind. “It is great exercise, hitting the ball back and forth. It is also a great stress reliever,” stated Dr. McCollum. And it still is, to many athletes, it may be the greatest! Whether, he was playing for the Seattle Boy’s Team, or with his future peers at Washington State University, this game of foreplay can improve any mood.
Tennis inspired and motivated Dr. McCollum, even to take the next step in his career. Dr. McCollum, if you may have guessed, attended Washington State University. When asked why he chose Washington State University, he responded: “ It was natural to me because I have lived near the campus two prior times; one of which when I was two to twelve years old. It was my playing ground, I would play there with the students.” He began to reminiscence of the how much tennis motivated him “Tennis was a pretty redundant thing for me,” he said. Though, Tennis was not his only passion. “I was very fascinated by how we got to where we are in the current events of the time. Not only as a country, but as a world,” Dr. McCollum informed me. While he accepted the opportunity to teach tennis, he also studied political science and world history. But such history led him to a dilemma: the Vietnam war.
“I got my degree in world history and I almost got my degree in psychology when I had a knee surgery that required knee surgery;” Dr. McCollom told me, “I avoided drafting because I would rather have served in the air force of my own will.” While serving in the Air Force, he was mainly stationed in Germany. He moved up the first four rankings in minimum time, when he received a great opportunity. “I was serving in the Air Force when I was informed that I qualified to be accepted into Bull State University. I could earn a full masters degree in counseling and psychology for four years on my off time. I was also able to travel a lot around Germany and western Europe. It was a most wonderful and beautiful experience,” concluded Dr. McCollum.
With a honorable discharge, Dr. McCollum still pursues his ideal career as a practicing psychologist and counselor of his own business. From tennis to collage, military to grad school, and even to his own business, hard work and determination won out. It even continues to this day, making this, in my opinion, the greatest coming of age story.

“The Census at Bethlehem” by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1566 AD
Oil on Panel, Historical Interpitition
Google Arts and Cultures link: https://artsandculture.google.com/asset/the-census-at-bethlehem/JwGxiyxYTZZEog?hl=en&avm=2
“Bruegel the Elder used space, along with other elements of art, to his benefit in the painting Census at Bethlehem. His use of space provides a natural barrier between the various scenes shown in the village without causing visual overload. He uses value to build depth of color throughout the painting, in particularly the red sunset over the frozen lake. The gradual fading of red to blue aids the transition from the woods to the lake in a memorizing way. The Artwork depicts the winter activities in the historical location of Bethlehem. Some inaccuracies are present, such as the landscape and climate being inspired by Bruegel the Elder’s Homeland, and the Crest of his Homeland’s Government. I personally believe that these are less of historical inaccuracies, but the representation of Bruegel the Elder’s connection to the story of the coming of Christ on a spiritual level. The painting makes allusions to the culture of his Nation at the time of the mid-16th Century, as well as foreshadowing towards the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. The foreshadowing is portrayed as a cross over a chapel and a grave marked with a cross hidden behind trees next to the brick building and sunset. I personally believe this foreshadows the Jewish Head Bishops framing Jesus for conspiracy against Rome, leading to his demise, and alleged reincarnation. The painting is oil on canvas, using a wet on wet technique. The bodies and faces show profile research later used by 17th century artists. Despite the apparent asymmetrical layout, balance is achieved. At the top of the layout, there is a horizon, and a second horizon is a diagonal line from the top left to bottom right. The Census/Tax/Butcher house, (open for interpretation), and the ruins are on opposing sides, and the frozen lake and snowy courtyard are in the middle creating balance. The painting provides a sense of unity among the numerous scenes through the use of space and association. I personally enjoy paintings similar to and including The Census at Bethlehem for their ability to portray a story throughout the image, engaging the viewer in a theatrical sense rather than being open for interpretation. Yes, many aspects of this panting are open for interpretation, but the overall narrative remains.” -Seamus Wasson
